**pic warning** verruca infected?

FancyFingers · 19/04/2017 20:07

Ds (6) has had a verruca for a couple of months. Despite treatment from the pharmacy, using various products it's now looking infected.

He cannot put any weight on his foot so is hobbling on his heel. I've tried the corn/verruca circle pads, but nothing is comfortable.

We saw a dr yesterday who prescribed the same gel as the bazuka brand. We've used this before.

What should I do? His foot after school today looked worse and I can see pus under the skin.

I called the surgery befor they closed and they've offered an appt with a nurse. I'm wondering what they'd be able to do (if anything?)

Does anyone have experience/advice?

Worrying about you both a bit. I do hope all is well.

BusterGonad · 22/04/2017 18:53

Please update us if you get the chance Op.

notapizzaeater · 22/04/2017 18:54

He might need intravenous anti b - hope you at the hospital

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 22/04/2017 19:11

Ouch

Buttercupsandaisies · 22/04/2017 19:13

I also think it looks just like the bandage as the area hasn't spread from the foot area where the verruca was - it's an isolated area?

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2017 19:29

Just seen this. Hope Fancy has taken her ds back to A&E.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2017 19:32

No Buttercups increasing pain and spreading redness in this situation is most likely due to infection spreading away from the initial site.

Needs further assessment asap

Supermagicsmile · 22/04/2017 20:02

How is he op?

UnbornMortificado · 22/04/2017 20:22

Hoping he's been seen, he's been through the mill bless him.

Bleurghghghgh · 22/04/2017 21:04

Hope all's well OP, poor lad

Buttercupsandaisies · 22/04/2017 22:07

But it doesn't look like its spread - there's no redness etc from the foot towards it- it just looks just a bit red by the ankle strap area unless I'm missing something?

picklemepopcorn · 22/04/2017 22:17

It's now red on top, though, and hurts inside. Hopefully, it stopped being red and hurting when the bandage was off for a while and OP and her DS are snuggled on the sofa. If it stayed red and continued to hurt though, then they will be back at the hospital getting some more help.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 22/04/2017 22:30

Only just seen this thread, that was scary seeing the quick progression. DS had a infected chicken pox blister on the sole of his foot that followed a similar pattern it terms of infection and this thread jjst reminded me how scary it was. Hope the redness on top of his foot is just from the bandages.

TheWitchwithNoName · 23/04/2017 07:53

How is he today Fancy? I do hope it was just the bandage Flowers

Groovee · 23/04/2017 08:12

Hope he is ok x

punkpuffin · 23/04/2017 08:15

Just read the whole thread. I hope he's feeling better.

Footle · 23/04/2017 08:54

Has this been dealt with now? Poor boy, it looks awful.

Footle · 23/04/2017 08:59

Sorry, my phone did something odd and I couldn't see the whole thread. So glad he's sorted now.

DoItTooJulia · 23/04/2017 12:09

Just thought I'd check in and see how your ds was doing FancyFingers. Hope he is sorted and on the mend. Flowers

MiltopMighty · 23/04/2017 12:36

Have been waiting on an update as well.

Hope everything is ok. Flowers

Donthate · 23/04/2017 12:38

Hope he's ok OP.

FancyFingers · 23/04/2017 14:17

Hello, I'm so sorry it's taken me so late to update. It's been a bit manic here at the moment.

We took ds to a&e and they kept him under observation, before letting us go late last evening. Continuing the antibiotics and they let his foot breathe for a while to see if the redness subsided, which it did.

But again they said you can't take any chances.

Still has his wound clinic tomorrow afternoon. But I've had a terrible migraine since yesterday morning. So I'm a bit shit at everything at the moment.

Thank you all so much for lovely messages. Flowers
