**pic warning** verruca infected?

Ds (6) has had a verruca for a couple of months. Despite treatment from the pharmacy, using various products it's now looking infected.

He cannot put any weight on his foot so is hobbling on his heel. I've tried the corn/verruca circle pads, but nothing is comfortable.

We saw a dr yesterday who prescribed the same gel as the bazuka brand. We've used this before.

What should I do? His foot after school today looked worse and I can see pus under the skin.

I called the surgery befor they closed and they've offered an appt with a nurse. I'm wondering what they'd be able to do (if anything?)

Does anyone have experience/advice?

Very pleased you took him to A&E. He is a very brave boy to have that treated with no anaesthetic. Glad he is feeling better.

Aquamarine70 · 21/04/2017 14:12

So glad to read that you got seen & the correct treatment.

Supermagicsmile · 21/04/2017 19:20

How is he today op?

FancyFingers · 21/04/2017 21:10

He isn't too bad thank you.

He hasn't slept at all despite me trying to get him to rest. But he has lounged about with us all waiting on him. Ds (12) helped him up to bed and he is in with me again, as I want to keep an eye on him.

He had managed all the doses of today's antibiotics, but does gag a little.

I'm hoping he'll be feeling better for his birthday on Monday, although he has to go to the wound clinic that day.

*wait on not waiting

My DS birthday on Monday too! Hope he has a great day x

WhistlerGrey · 22/04/2017 00:54

I'm so pleased to read this - I hope he has a wonderful birthday, that his foot isn't too sore and that the antibiotics stay down.

Probably because I have a 6 year old son too this really touched me and I had to actually search for the update Grin

Supermagicsmile · 22/04/2017 00:56

Glad he's doing better. :)

DoItTooJulia · 22/04/2017 09:23

Wow-just read the entire thread.

That was really nasty-good job you got him sorted. Here's hoping it's properly sorted and it's just a a case of healing up now.

It goes to show that it's worth going with your instincts. Flowers

Poor boy. So sorry. Over the years I have had great success with infected feet/hand using magnesium sulphate. It is an old fashioned but amazingly effective drawing cream. It is used for boils, drawing splinters out etc. I always have some as it has helped on many occasions. Of course he needs medical treatment pronto.

FancyFingers · 22/04/2017 12:31

I had to change the bandage this morning and he is complaining that his foot is hurting on top. He said it's hurting inside.

Eeek-I don't like the look of that.

I think you need to see someone again today. Sad

Fairylea · 22/04/2017 13:04

I would go back to a and e. You don't want to mess about with infections etc like that.

endofthelinefinally · 22/04/2017 13:14

Go back

RMC123 · 22/04/2017 13:16

A and E . No way you want to mess about.

RedBugMug · 22/04/2017 13:21

I agree. get him seen again.
a little pain would be expected after the operation, but the redness is worrying.

LadyFlumpalot · 22/04/2017 13:21

A&E. Don't bother with 111. Straight back to the hospital.

WetsTheFinger · 22/04/2017 13:36

That just looks like where the bandage has rubbed to me.

picklemepopcorn · 22/04/2017 13:44

Has it disappeared with the bandage off for a while? If not, back to a&e.

endofthelinefinally · 22/04/2017 14:03

Is he feverish or unwell?
I would be worried about infection getting to the bone.
I dont think this has been taken seriously enough so far.

TheHobbitMum · 22/04/2017 14:04

If that isn't a bandage rub you need to go back to A&E, that could well be the infection spreading :( Poor thing hasn't had any luck

BusterGonad · 22/04/2017 14:06

If the doctors at a&e said you only just caught it in time when they sorted it last time then do NOT mess about and go straight to a&e, do not bother with 111, or trying to see the out of hours doctor. Please don't delay with a infection like this.

LettuceMash · 22/04/2017 14:07

Go back to A&E

befairdontjudge · 22/04/2017 15:24

Another back to A&E with that.

Wolfiefan · 22/04/2017 15:25

Hope it was just the bandage or he's been seen again already. Get well soon Fancyboy. Sad
