So. Whole family had norovirus last week - I wasn't sick unlike the others but I was thoroughly ahem emptied.
I swear I saw rice crispies circa 1989 in there 😱
I am now very constipated.
I've been eating fruit and rice cakes and bland stuff but I haven't been for what week now..
Been taking lactose twice a day and took senna last night but still no movement 😞
Ive got some laxido from my mum...should I take it?
I'm so uncomfortable 😞
Help!

Over invested!

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 07/04/2017 22:23

I find going for a jog helps, I know it's the last thing you feel like doing, but all that jiggling around really helps

Badders123 · 07/04/2017 22:30

Nothing more yet.....

Fascinating thread.

Just to add to the many suggestions you've already had. Tinned pears in juice if you need some extra assistance. Hot bath with 2 mugs full of Epsom salts. Soak for 30mins. Magnesium supplement at night.

Poor you.

reallybadidea · 08/04/2017 00:58

Have you tried massaging your tummy quite firmly. I sometimes find this gets things moving a bit.

Or you could try staying up all night. I've never not done a massive poo after a night shift!

picklemepopcorn · 08/04/2017 05:48

Did GP tell you what to do if this continues?

Riddo · 08/04/2017 06:00

Linseed soaked in boiling water works for me.

Badders123 · 08/04/2017 07:49

Morning.
Awful night. Felt quite sick and had one more small -ahem - movement
Bit crampy this Morning so hoping something happens
Dh and dc off out for the day so I shall do some light housework
Just about to have another sachet of laxido
Dr just said that I would get movement by tomorrow (i.e. today)though I've just realised she told me to double the dose which i didn't do...By one else done that? It doesn't say anything about doubling doses on the info sheet....
I shall keep you posted...and thank you for your sympathy and concern 💞

Badders123 · 08/04/2017 08:07

Lapin...😁
Reminds me of when ds1 was a pre schooler and he was a bit bunged up and was getting upset...I put my head down the loo and shouted "come on out you naughty poo!!" 😊
Cheered him up no end

Rewards work well for my toddler.
Maybe if we all clubbed together to get you a mulberry handbag upon production of the mega-poo?

treaclesoda · 08/04/2017 08:14

You have all my sympathy. Constipation is misery Flowers

Piehunter · 08/04/2017 09:37

What is double dose of laxido, do you mean 16 sachets a day?! That seems slightly ridiculous... I often take 2 sachets in double amount of water as it's easier to get more in a shorter time that way but I don't take 16! At this point I would highly recommend an enema, you can get them over the counter at chemists normally, cheap and should hopefully help get things moving better...

Badders123 · 08/04/2017 09:49

No she meant 2 sachets twice a day iyswim?
I've had one
Have done some light housework and am now off to shops for something nice for lunch tomorrow
It's such a lovely day and I feel like pants 😞😞

Yes. If it's too big to flush, you get CHANEL

Going to the shops will help. Because sure as night follows day, the offending blockage will decide to dislodge itself when you are not in the privacy of your own home. Wink

BigGrannyPants · 08/04/2017 10:50

I know it's now exactly the same but my DS2 is like this all the time. He is on lactulose and senna, he's only 1 and his dose is 10ml of each twice a day, I think you can take up to 60ml of lactulose. Foods that are good for getting you going are sweet corn, prunes, dates, grapes. Dr also recommended vagisil round his bum as it has lidocaine in it which takes the edge off the pain a bit when he is going... just a thought Grin

kittybiscuits · 08/04/2017 10:55

Everything crossed for you to have an enormous poo Badders

Badders123 · 08/04/2017 12:24
