Wasn't sure what to call this thread , for those of us currently on a weight loss programme of some sort.
At my third weightwatchers weigh in tonight I had lost just one pound but that's fine, considering the amount of Coronation chicken I scoffed at a friend's house yesterday.
Got a bit depressed today when I saw some pictures taken of me about 15 years ago when I was young and about three stones lighter...

Suew
for 1 point you get a 125ml glass and its 8.5%vol, you get about 6 glasses per bottle.

Susiebabes · 03/07/2002 14:22

Amanda1 - How's it going with the Detox??? I bought the book but so far have only managed to read it. Going on hols next weeks so maybe wait till I come back then start it - let me know how you are getting on.......

Rhiannon · 03/07/2002 15:49

Lost another pound this week, yippee. Now 15.5lbs down. Thank you meringues I love you. R

bluebear · 03/07/2002 22:44

I've been avoiding this thread - sign of a guilty conscience. I've been doing that diet where you vary your calorie intake every day to avoid plateau-ing but seem to be doing a few too many high calorie days and not so many low ones.
Lost 10 pounds so far (in, I think, 7 weeks), plodding on but not feeling very motivated at the moment

Bluebear
Snap! Except I have only lost 8lbs. I need encouragment and motivation. I've been the same weight for 3 weeks: advice please!

leander · 04/07/2002 20:02

Just been to my first weigh-in and lost 3lbs so i am quite pleased.
does it make any difference to your weight if you are on your period?

jasper · 08/07/2002 22:49

Last week I GAINED half a pound..this week I got my act together and lost 4 1/2 pounds and am feeling very happy about it..
That's 13 pounds in 7 weeks.
I'm not exactly getting mistaken for posh spice but I am going in the right direction.

Well done Jasper

bluebear · 11/07/2002 21:28

Copper - have you lost any more weight yet? I'm still at 10 pounds and have honestly not been cheating for the last week, can't blame it on water retention either. Baby's birthday is next week and I was wanting to be at target number one (12 pounds) before then but it's not looking likely at this rate. Hope you're having a better time.
Any advice anyone??

leander · 11/07/2002 22:51

2nd week and only lost 1/2lb this week not bad i suppose since i've been for 2 chinese meals!

jasper · 12/07/2002 00:30

bluebear don't despair. I am about 8 weeks into this so clearly an expert
I have stuck to it quite well, with a couple of lapses. My weekly weigh ins don't correlate very well with how well I have stuck to it--twice I only lost half a pound on weeks I had stuck well to the plan, but then the next week the scale jumps again showing quite a good loss.
It is a slow process but don't give up. Remember you are now DOING SOMETHING about your excess weight and will get there in the end.

Ladies - Can I ask a question... besides the dieting are any of you exercising ? I ask because I have been watching This Morning yesterday and their "expert" kept making the point that one MUST exercise and will even gain weight (muscle not fat) at first but you need to get your metabolism to work probably and that doesn't happen with fat but with muscle... also the fact that exercising is good for bone density (reducing risk of osteoporosis)....

Just wondering - well done to all of you though

leander · 12/07/2002 11:26

Pupice
I go swimming at least once a week and try to walk everyday but as you know its quite difficult to find anytime for yourself with a baby, but i do try.

bluebear · 12/07/2002 19:42

Jasper - thanks for your reply. I started this diet about the same time you started ww so I have been following your progress enviously! Well done!

Pupuce - yes, I'm trying to make my life more 'energetic', sold my car and walk everywhere, go up stairs instead of lifts, get off the tube one stop early and walk, as well as doing a yoga video twice a week and tummy and arm (hate my arms) exercises every night. I am putting on more muscle, maybe that's the reason my weightloss has been so disappointing?? I want to change my body shape as well as lose weight (not excessively, but there are some bits that wobble that'll still wobble when they're smaller ). I'm spurred on by the thought that once you have muscle it burns calories just by existing, so more muscle means more food.

jasper · 12/07/2002 22:39

bluebear, save me trawling the thread - how much have you lost and how much do you want to lose?

I'm at 10 9( 13 lost) and would LOVE to see nine stones again

OP posts:
bluebear · 12/07/2002 23:08

Ooohh confession time - okay then.. I'm currently 9 st 4 with 10 pounds lost over the last 8 weeks (i.e. was 10 st ) and my primary target is just 2 pounds away - 9st 2 ( because then I would no longer be considered clinically overweight ).

I have a secondary target of 8st 10, because that's a weight I feel comfy at. BTW I'm only 5 foot tall.

I know it's not stones and stones to lose but at my height even a few pounds make a difference.

jasper · 13/07/2002 03:23

bluebear, that's excellent, you are nearly there. I know what you mean about a few pounds making a difference when you are short.I am astonished at how my tall friends can gain a stone or so and it hardly shows at all.
Pupuce, as for exercising I am trying to walk as much as possible. My 5 times a week at the gym days are definately over for the meantime anyway

I think I should be saying a little sheepish hello on this thread right about now. I doubt anyone can remember but last year I lost a lot of weight and got my 'figure' back by posting on this board and getting a lot of help and support from everyone. I just had a really healthy eating plan and didn't follow a diet. BUT something really bad has happened! Since I started seeing my gorgeous dp (who can cook soooo well) I have put on a stone in three months!!! I can't believe it and am really quite annoyed. As soon as I started dating him food became a real focal point of our relationship as we both really enjoying eating, and eating too much. It starts with a meal and moves onto ice cream and bags of chocolate - and don't even mention the word take-away to me! I'm seriously going to have to get motivated and shift some weight. I own 2 pairs of size 12 jeans (bought in march) and they are now looking ridiculous on me as I squeeze myself into them. Must get back on track and I'm hoping you lot don't mind if I keep reporting back here - it worked for me before, so here goes.........

jasper · 16/07/2002 21:36

Wellcome to fat club Lizzer
Take heart, at least you got this way through being happy!
Glad the romance is going well.

Hi again, thanks suew and jasper, I feel a bit of a failure at the moment so needed some friendly encouragement! My exercise has gone right out of the window too (I could make a smutty remark about another form of exercise that I'm getting now instead - but I'm too much of a lady and besides I need more toning than just the inner thighs!! ) I must get back into my walking with the pushchair that I loved, but now sadly only manage a few miles a week if that (was averaging 20)
Still I'm not sulking cos I got back on the healthy eating train yesterday, just stuck with fruit and water for a day to get rid of some bloating and today I feel much better already and have peed a couple of pounds of water retention away overnight! (Does anyone else suffer badly with bloating??)
So, onwards and downwards into my size 12's......I hope

jasper · 18/07/2002 05:15

Lizzer,if I was in your position I'd hang the diet and stay in bed

leander · 19/07/2002 08:49

jasper · 19/07/2002 21:12

Good news Leander.
As I look at it the weigh crept on a pound or so at a time and it will creep off the same way!
