Wasn't sure what to call this thread , for those of us currently on a weight loss programme of some sort.
At my third weightwatchers weigh in tonight I had lost just one pound but that's fine, considering the amount of Coronation chicken I scoffed at a friend's house yesterday.
Got a bit depressed today when I saw some pictures taken of me about 15 years ago when I was young and about three stones lighter...

Nice to hear from you again Leander - don't be too disappointed. My feeling is that I enjoyed eating the curries, noodles, etc that caused my slight increase, so I'm not going to be too concerned, afterall I'm back on it properly now So don't you worry about it, just start afresh.

Willow2 - the vegetable soup is wonderful. Never tastes the same twice!!! And this time of year is perfect for nice warming soup.

CP - well done on getting to goal.

Fms - I'd agree with CP, eat all your allocation of points - not something I ever have a problem with My problem is not going over. But I must be doing something right.

Willow2 · 10/10/2002 23:08

More good soup recipes needed..... never made soup before (I know, how daft is that?) so would appreciate some pointers.

WideWebWitch · 10/10/2002 23:19

Willow2, you take some olive oil, fry an onion and some pork...joking. Have some soup recipes somewhere, will see if I can find and post over the weekend.

jessi · 11/10/2002 09:11

Hi Willow2, I was soup queen while I was doing ww! My favourites were Leek & Potato, Mushroom soup and Watercress soup. Minimal points in them and they really fill you up.

Recipes are :

1.Peel and chop into cubes one large potato. 2.Finely chop leeks/watercress or mushrooms and one onion/bit of garlic if you like it.
3.Saute in a pan for a few mins then add about 1 1/2 pints of vegetable stock.
4.Simmer it until the potatos are cooked and then blend with a hand blender.

As a treat with the mushroom one I would add a small amount of single cream and abit of parsely always adds abit of flavour!

I used to have a pan of soup on the go every day and thats all I ate at lunchtimes, it definitely worked for me! I tried that vile cabbage soup, but it was horiffic stuff! Ds also loved my soups too.
HTH!

Willow2 · 11/10/2002 10:18

WWW - got any recipes with chocolate and lard in them?

Jessi - ta v much!

tigermoth · 11/10/2002 12:33

I remember seeing a recipe for fried cream. So if you're really talking calories that might be your answer...

Scatterbrain · 11/10/2002 12:48

Fried cream - Yuck !!!

BLEAHHHHHHHH !!!!

ticklebyday · 11/10/2002 13:43

I've just rejoined Weight Watchers after a 5 month absence (too frightened to go) anyway, I plucked up the courage and I had put on 10lbs of the 2 stone that I lost.

Only 1 1/2 stone to lose by January (hopefully) - my incentive is my holiday to Lanzarote. Carrots and rice cakes here I come.

IDismyname · 11/10/2002 19:51

Just to add to Jessi 's soup recipe, I love the WW butternut squash soup. Do all as Jessi says but using a whole butternut squash seeded and peeled, but add cumin and coriander to the stock, too. Really thick, creamy, filling and "Nil Points" (said in Eurovision Contest Fench accent!)

Willow2 · 11/10/2002 21:34

souptastic my dears

leander · 18/10/2002 22:49

Back on the straight and narrow this week and lost 1 1/2 lbs.

Deborahf · 19/10/2002 00:10

Hi Leander - well done! You must be feeling very pleased. Keep it up.

It's been a bit quiet in here for a while and I forgot to post my result. Weighed in on Wednesday and lost 3lbs - so feeling very pleased. Especially as it had been a tough week. That's a total of 31lbs in 13 weeks.

Willow2 · 19/10/2002 00:42

lost 1 1/2 lbs too this week - but far I've already put it on thanks to a delicious goan curry and copious amounts of alcohol with various members of the mumsnet tribe. You are all to blame!

Deborahf · 19/10/2002 16:29

Never mind Willow2 - I'm sure it was a most enjoyable evening!!

jasper · 20/10/2002 00:52

Deborahf, Leander, you two are the queens of the mumsnet shrinkers!
I have plateaud (is that a word?) at my official WW goal for a few weeks but am raring to go. My goal is for my gorgeous skinny friends's wedding in January.

Hi Jasper - you've got plenty of time (just be careful at Christmas ) You'll look lovely. BTW - thank you - I'm determined not to be this heavy by the time I reach 43 (next June) so I've got time too.

Deborahf · 25/10/2002 23:01

Just a quick update on progress. Went to WW on Wednesday and lost 1lb. Really pleased, especially as all I want to do is eat in this cold weather. Good luck to everyone else.

Deborahf · 06/11/2002 22:21

It seems to have gone extremely quiet in here. But just in case anyone is popping in - thought I'd update you on my progress. Went to WW lunchtime today and am very pleased to report a loss of 2lbs (somewhat unexpected). That's a total of 34½lbs so far.

kkgirl · 06/11/2002 22:25

DeborahF

Well done, that is very good. I expect you are very pleased with yourself.
I would be grateful if I could lose one pound let alone more

Deborahf · 07/11/2002 22:01

Thank you KKgirl - it's nice to have encouragement. I think this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do

missdilema · 07/11/2002 22:33

Has anyone tried these things called butter buds?I've seen them in the lakeland catalogue and they sound interesting.Butter is definately my downfall.I always think I'm doing well having a rice cake or baked potato but have to put butter or fat on it.

Deborahf · 08/11/2002 23:02

My WW leader says that the Butter Buds are delicious and absolutely great for baked potatos. Haven't tried them myself yet, but will do so.

mears · 14/11/2002 00:12

Well have finally rejoined tonight - last night really ( WED). Saw myself in a video at a wedding at the weekend and look so matronly! DH looks huge as well. Need to lose 2 stone at least ( possibly 3). Will let you know how it goes. I wonder if I will fare better this time with mumsnetters support?

jasper · 14/11/2002 00:54

Well done Mears.
If it helps, I have lost just over two stone in 6 months and am SO pleased with myself.
Just keep going. Lots of times I GAINED weight but did not give up and am back to a weight I have not seen in about 5 years.
This thread is getting so long it takes ages to download....anyone fancy starting anew?

Well done Jasper, that's excellent, my weight has fluctuated so much over the years (nothing to do with pregnancy to be honest!) I need to lose 2-3 stone, will join you properly ........ after Christmas!!
