Good decision OP, hope he is ok.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 31/12/2016 09:29

Good call op, that could be potentially very serious. Can't believe some people were implying otherwise.

Juanbablo · 31/12/2016 09:32

I would have insisted dh go to out of hours at the very least with urine like that. It looks like Coca Cola! I think you made the right choice going to the hospital, I hope your dh is seen and treated quickly.

FrameyMcFrame · 31/12/2016 09:34

MountainPeaks, are you a doctor?

To be honest, a call to 111 to get a GP appointment and waiting in A&E will probably take the same amount of time.
and both will end up in the op's husband getting appropriate medical attention.

I'm just pointing out that the NHS website does not say blood in the urine is an emergency.

BarryTheKestrel · 31/12/2016 09:37

Glad he's being seen. Hope it isn't anything too serious. I would have marched DH to A&E with urine like that. You've done the right thing.

ShinyMoonFace · 31/12/2016 09:37

good luck OP

NormaSmuff · 31/12/2016 09:37

i spose it all depends on your experience of the service, and as op had a bad experience of the 111 service she did what she felt was the right thing, in her situation.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 31/12/2016 09:39

I hope everything turns out OK for you today OP.

The A&E department's reaction surely shows that you've done the right thing by going.

Plifner · 31/12/2016 09:39

Is this for real?? It looks exactly like coca cola

ememem84 · 31/12/2016 09:40

Agree you've done the right thing here. Unless he's eaten a ton of beetroot that is not normal.

Incidentally where I live there is a castle with a "wheel of pee" in a room supposedly used by the castles healer. It shows 12 glorious colours of pee. From healthy pale straw yellow to er black not so healthy.

UserOne · 31/12/2016 09:40

Oh dear. Doesn't look great. I agree A&E simply because when I had similar 111 made me go to A&E. I think when taking paracetamol and similar things, and your urine doesn't look right, it's usually best to get it checked quickly somewhere that they'll be able to take bloods or urine samples with quick results. A walk in can't do that, A&E can.

Hope everything is fine, and hopefully he's "just" very dehydrated or something more easily solved instead of any other issue.

Cloudhopping · 31/12/2016 09:43

Good luck op. Hope your dh is ok. I would have advised a and e too under the circumstances.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 31/12/2016 09:43

Oh gosh hope it gets resolved fast.

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 31/12/2016 09:44

Make him drink lots of water whilst waiting for medics etc...

Also keep a not of the colour of his pee as he drinks ...

LuluJakey1 · 31/12/2016 09:45

Hope he is Ok. You made the right decision.

No doubt the dismissive critics will be back to complain he has jumped the queue at A and E unnecessarily- they clearly know better from their armchair viewpoint than medical staff on site.

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 09:46

Of course it's real, why the fuck would I pour coke in a cup and pretend it's my husbands piss???!!

OP posts:
CigarsofthePharoahs · 31/12/2016 09:46

Last time I peed blood I was lucky it was in GP opening hours. I was in a lot of pain.
GP said, when the results came back, that I had a "nasty" UTI that could have got a whole lot worse had I left it.
I wouldn't have gone to A&E had that been my only option. I probably would have left it.
Hope all goes well op, I think you've done the right thing.

CakeNinja · 31/12/2016 09:48

God, usually I'm in awe when people suggest going to a&e over absolutely fuck all but the colour of that piss is disturbing Shock
Glad you went, let's hope you get some answers very soon Flowers

deloresclaiborne · 31/12/2016 09:48

the walk in centre should be your first port of call, let the doctor make the decision whether he needs a and e or not thats what they are there for to take the pressure off the hospitals.
he might need further investigation , he might just need antibiotics
this is why the hospitals are in meltdown
hope hes feeling better soon

TheFairyCaravan · 31/12/2016 09:49

TBH he should have called his GP yesterday when he first started peeing red.

Nicketynac · 31/12/2016 09:50

framey Blood in the urine not being an emergency means normal pee with a pinkish tinge or small spots of blood. Peeing actual bright red blood is quite a different thing.

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 31/12/2016 09:51

Any low back pain? I'm diagnosing kidney stones. My wee has looked like that plus frothy/fluff on top

SantaIsABastard · 31/12/2016 09:51

Hope he I see ok, op

If you care to read the OP's updates delores there isn't any other option other than A and E where she lives.

I hope it is something that can be resolved easily BalaRua
