How exactly os OP going to get an appointment to see her GP today. Saturday, Dec 31? GP appointments are like unicorn shit over the week as it is.

This is the real reason A&E are struggling, the lack of appointments and weekend care.

MountainPeaks · 31/12/2016 09:15

This is the real reason A&E are struggling And because people aren't looking after themselves.

iamamickey · 31/12/2016 09:15

I'm an A&e nurse! Go to A And E.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 31/12/2016 09:17

Well, that too, the alcohol related A&E visits are a big drain, I agree.

Plifner · 31/12/2016 09:17

My gp would definitely recommend going to a and e with that. Actually he doesn't directly recommend it because I don't think he is supposed to. He would say hmm how far away from a and e are you? I'd say do you think it's worth going to a and e? He'd say well if you don't mind a wait.

ToffeeForEveryone · 31/12/2016 09:17

Holy moly. Yes yes and yes.

Hope everything is okay OP.

Noofly · 31/12/2016 09:17

I've got to agree with Hip. A couple of days before Christmas I was up all night with what I originally thought was heartburn or indigestion. In the morning, DH decided I couldn't wait for the GP surgery to open and took me to A&E. I was so worried I'd be wasting their time and be sent home with some antacids. Blush

I was admitted straight away with an inflamed gallbladder which they whipped out the next morning. I later found out gangrene had set in which is probably why I was so unwell.

DH only took me to A&E because I never make a fuss about being ill so he figured there really was something very wrong. I wouldn't have gone had I been on my own. It's not always a straightforward decision.

confusedandemployed · 31/12/2016 09:17

I see the GP only on pain of death but if A&E is your only option, especially given your DH has potentially another 2 days to deteriorate with no primary care options available, then that is where I would go.

Hope your DH is ok, OP Flowers

GreatNorthern · 31/12/2016 09:18

He looks as if he's dehydrated- is he drinking enough water - a good glass every hour or so?

It looks dark brown rather than red (hard to tell.)

Are his kidneys aching or does he have back ache?

Does he have a temperature?

DollyPlastic · 31/12/2016 09:19

I would.

AtSea1979 · 31/12/2016 09:20

Glad you've gone. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's something simple and back out for NY

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 09:22

He jumped the queue at a and e and has been triaged ahead of everyone and awaiting doctor now.

insancerre · 31/12/2016 09:23

Glad you went
Hope he gets sorted quickly

NormaSmuff · 31/12/2016 09:23

glad to hear it op Smile

trinity0097 · 31/12/2016 09:24

Fingers crossed they get him sorted quickly.

I would have gone to A and E with that, that's not a little bit of blood in urine, that's full on, it's also a huge sample!

Gunpowder · 31/12/2016 09:24

Gosh so glad he's gone to a&e. Hope he's ok.

booellesmum · 31/12/2016 09:24

Hope he's OK. You are in the right place.

FrameyMcFrame · 31/12/2016 09:25

I think you're right to go to A&E.
But you'd also be right to ring 111 too. I don't think Mosschops advice is bad, just get medical attention today. There will be out of hours gps available as well.

If you look at the NHS website, it doesn't say blood in the urine is a medical emergency and it doesn't say get yourself to A&E immediately.

It says see your GP.

scoobdoob · 31/12/2016 09:25

Urine that looks like "cola" is actually a sign of bleeding. That and the fact he has been taking a product containing Paracetamol needs medical attention.

He will need bloods taking and a fast turn around so a&e is the best route to go.

poppym12 · 31/12/2016 09:25

I'm glad you have gone to a and e, and I hope he'll be OK soon.

MountainPeaks · 31/12/2016 09:28

Framey

Internal bleeding IS a medical emergency. That urine is a sign of severe internal bleeding.
