Hi,

So embarrassed to be posting this - but as stuck on the loo in agony I'm desperate.

I have a stool that I can only presume is the size of a marrow attempting to pass my body. I'm on the verge of saying it's more painful than childbirth (and I had a 4th degree tear with no pain relief at that moment so I know what pain is!). I have attempted to go several times today and it gets so far out and then gets stuck. Like I cannot push anymore because I feel like it's going to rip me apart. I get contraction type waves trying to push it out but it won't come. Because I'm straining, there's then blood too. Earlier I tried using a tissue to grab and pull it out (clearly that worked well!!!!)

I HAVE to get this out tonight as I'm at work tomorrow and I cannot phone my boss to say I'm not coming in because I have a giant shit stuck up my arse!!!

Can anyone at all give me some suggestions to help clear this beast?

PS it's caused by medications that I'm on, a crap diet and probably not enough fluids when exercising this weekend. My routine has never been regular as such (once a week would be 'normal' but I'm sure I only went a few days ago!)

Thank you (and please don't laugh)

Maybe some regular fybogel if you're going to be on these meds a while? (Hope whatever for gets better soon too!)

PurpleDaisies · 30/05/2016 23:32

And definitely a diet with more veggies...

Glad the situation has resolved. Smile

Haudyerwheesht · 30/05/2016 23:47

I am so glad you've given birth!!!

After I actually did give birth to enormous Dd I got home and realised I couldn't poo and not only that but I was desperate for a pee and couldn't go because the poo was somehow in the way. Was bizarre and when I called the male GP he could not have been less sympathetic.

I now always have glycerin suppositories in my cupboard.

Ramblesoften · 31/05/2016 00:01

This has it all,

Trauma,
Suspense,
Humour,
A happy ending so much than the usual shitty endings..

I actually lay in bed almost crying with laughter at some points.

So chuffed I read this post.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of Matt OP!

JingleJangleJudy · 31/05/2016 00:07

Oh that was intense! Felt almost as much relief as you did (I'm sure!). Glad you have passed the offending faeces. Smile

Mummyme1987 · 31/05/2016 01:34

Congrats op Flowers

RainbowsAndUnicorns5 · 31/05/2016 08:33

UK pharmacies sell out of glycerin suppositories today following painful Mumsnet thread

Hidingtonothing · 31/05/2016 09:03

Late to the poo party but so glad it had a happy ending OP, welcome to the world Matt Wink Brought back awful memories of the days after DD was born, had to beg a MW friend to bring me a mini enema from work in the end, still makes me shudder to think of how awful I felt. Hope you're ok today OP, I wish I'd known about MN when it happened to me, it really isn't nice going through it alone Flowers

gingeroots · 31/05/2016 09:37

Thank goodness ( understatement ! ) OP .

The girl in the bed next to me in hospital had a week long ( well maybe 2 or3 days) struggle with poo .Finally sorted by a nurse ,goodness knows what she did but shouts of "it feels like you've got your arm up there ".
Girl then posted outcome on Facebook.

WickedLazy · 31/05/2016 10:58

Was lurking last night, so glad Matt finally came into the world! Hopefully no brothers or sisters to come in the future Grin

Try prune juice. It always helps me out!

Glad you got it sorted. Some years ago, I had 2 hernias in line with the incisions for a gall bladder operation. Emergency appt with the surgeon, who gave me 4 Tramadol a day.

Some 10 days later - after trying industrial strength curries etc etc - I went to the GP. The bastard killed himself laughing at the thought I'd gone 10 days before asking for help. He was quite shocked that the surgeon hadn't given me anything else to counteract the effects of the Tramadol.

This year I had it again for shingles in my eye. Came out of the pharmacy with a massive box of laxatives just in case. Lovely!
