...and it really bloody hurts , I can hardly swallow. And I have got aches and little stabbing pains all over, and I look like a hamster because my glands are all swollen, and my skin feel like one giant bruise all over. AND a a new cold sore. I have caught a virus from ds1, who has had it for over a week now, and has a burst eardrum.

Just wanted to whinge and moan, really

Greeny - I am worried about you sweetheart. If you feel as bad as you do now in the morning, please go back to the doctors.

GreenLumpyTonsils · 24/09/2006 23:50

I will go to GP in the morning I think. I am getting worried now, I can't be ill right now!

puff · 24/09/2006 23:52

Good - you may need stronger antibiotics....and rest - have you got anyone to help with the children?

harrisey · 25/09/2006 00:02

Greeny, please go to the doc in the morning, or, if you are awake, think about calling the out of hours GP again. MOst antibiotics take 24 hours to work, but if you are sore all over that is not a good sign - it does sound like you have a strep throat or quinsy and need maybe hospital treatment (IV antibiotics work much quicker and you are getting dehydrated)
Hope you feel better soon!

jasper · 25/09/2006 00:13

greeny may have been said before but worth repeating.
You MUST take plenty of fluids.
Sugary stuff is best .
Flat coke/lemonade . Not often recommended but def of help in your case.

My nephew recently spent a week in hospital with tonsillitis

Elibean · 25/09/2006 08:11

Oh no, Greeny... sorry things got worse again. I did sort of wonder if you might feel worse because of it being evening/night (as one does) or get worse before getting better, but this sounds too much.
I'm with the others: get thee to the doc's this morning, or even the hospital, unless you are feeling a whole heap better. Please. xxxx

lemonaid · 25/09/2006 08:17

Get to the doctor today. Better to end up in hospital today and be feeling much better by the weekend than wind up as an emergency admission in a couple of days and wipe out your weekend away. My sister had quinsy a couple of times and it does sound very like what you are describing. You really need medical treatment now.

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 08:17

For Gawd's sake Greeny, go to the fricking doctor already

If I'd have known this was your thread (how could I not have guessed? Who else would be so revoltingly graphic? ) I would have been jumping all over you days ago - now shift your arse and get a taxi or whatever and get it sorted.

And if you are thinking about getting out of going to London this week then think again, because I will personally come and drag your sorry pustuled person out of your sick bed and up the motorway if necessary.

now you see where not eating properly gets you? Hmmm? HMMM???

puff · 25/09/2006 09:36

How's things Greeny? I hope you've got yourself back to the docs.

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 19:45

Greeny I am going to start phoning and harrassing dp if we don't hear an update from you pretty soon..

puff · 25/09/2006 20:12

anyone heard?

hope she's ok

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 20:40

Hello folks, thanks for inquiring about me. I did feel a bit better this morning and had high hopes for today, but now my throat is agony again and my ears are hurting , and I just feel drained and dizzy again, it's such a drag.

I am getting really panicky now because we are supposed to be taking ds1 out for his birthday outing/picnic/theme park on Thursday, birthday party on Friday, I haven't made his cake yet (and he will have HIGH hopes, because sugarcraft is one of my hobbies), haven't wrapped his presents or bought cards, and we are going away for the weekend. I did try to get an appointment with my GP today but couldn't get one, and was told by the secretary that there wasn't any point anyway because the antibiotics the walk-in doctor gave me on Sunday are really strong and they wouldn't do anything else.

So all in all, things are pretty shit. Thanks for asking though. It was nice to log on and see people had thought about me.

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 20:47

Greeny have you booked for the theme park? If not, take him next week. Who is coming for the party? Rearrange if necessary. I am sorry to be ruthless but ds is only 4, if you tell him it isn't his birthday until next week you can easily convince him. Dp can wrap presents fgs.

I think you will be better by the weekend. See a doctor anyway, though - is the receptionist a doctor in her spare time? No? Maybe actually getting a DOCTOR'S opinion might be worth while, then

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 20:56

I have actually seen a doctor Franny, I struggled to the hospital on Sunday and saw one, he said he had never seen such an angry-looking throat

You have a point about ds1's birthday, I suppose - but he does know it's this week, he's pretty hot on that sort of thing. He told me this morning that he had to count three more days.

I think I'll be better by the weekend, well enough to travel, anyway - I'm more worried about dh having to be off work all week when he's already taking leave for the birthday/holiday, and the fact that I just can't DO anything when there is so much to be done .

Control freaks like me should never be ill, it's just not fair

Elibean · 25/09/2006 21:06

Ugh, you poor sausage, the anti-bs are taking their time...I think its fairly normal for anyone with an infection to feel better in the morning, then worse in the afternoon, and dire at night: but you should feel better tomorrow morning than you did this morning. If you don't, definitely I would try and see a doctor again - like F&Z said, the receptionist isn't one, and some gp receps can be like guard-dragons anyway. You know how ill you feel, she doesn't.
Must be extra hard knowing its nearly DS's birthday...but even if he has to count a few more days, he'll be ok...how does your DH feel about taking more time off? Can he?
Hope you have a better night...

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 21:15

Yes he is a big boy Greeny - if you have to have it next week instead it will not scar him for life. He is old enough to understand that Mummies get ill sometimes and that birthdays go better when Mummies are better.

I would postpone right now and then you can stop worrying, concentrate on getting well, and enjoy it all next week. He can still have some presents on the day itself (that will make up for virtually anything else, I reckon - the rest of the stuff is just for you let's face it )

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 21:23

Yes most of my posts can be summed up by that emoticon really

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 21:26

True, true... Anyway, I am going to be Superwoman and do EVERYTHING, bug or no bug. I have been lying on my sickbed thinking of ways to make a space rocket out of swiss rolls and marzipan

FrannyandZooey · 25/09/2006 21:50

Greeny just lie still and concentrate on getting better there's a good girl

Elibean · 25/09/2006 21:52

Though if you want to lie still and think of marzipan space rockets (yum) thats ok too....just make sure you're horizontal

Beauregard · 25/09/2006 21:59

Get well soon Greeny

GreenLumpyTonsils · 25/09/2006 22:13

Thanks

puff · 25/09/2006 22:19

You take good care of yourself - rest as much as you can over the next few days - easier said than done I know, but it's important - you're no good to anyone if you fall over!

lemonaid · 25/09/2006 23:24

They can do more than they have done. When my sister had one of her quinsies they had her on IV antibiotics and sprayed cocaine (!) on her throat as a painkiller. So if you aren't getting better go back in regardless of what the receptionist says.
