For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

ooooh, its nice to be back with you funny people...

RL gets so dull

my pretext for being on the computer tonite is looking for life insurance (I become Old next week).

I mean, I ask you, how dull is that?

have eaten 2 more bananas btw. Do you really want to know this? Maybe if I just do a tally at the end of the night?

Charleesunnysunsun · 07/09/2006 21:15

My reason for being on the computer tonight is telling DP if he didn't get his arse off ebay i was going to stick the mouse where the sun don't shine

NotQuiteCockney · 07/09/2006 21:20

Today, I have had:

  • the usual muesli (1)
  • two oranges (2)
  • ratatouille (2)
  • three portobello mushrooms with a lot of spinach on top (4)
  • quite a few grapes (1).

No exercise, well, I did a shift at the co-op and biked there and back.

Oh, I have spent much of my evening talking ILs through ebay, over the phone, which certainly also must count as exercise?

I am planning on running tomorrow, as well as biking into town.

(Having crazy week, having MN meet of sorts at my house on Sunday, but ILs are also coming.)

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 21:20

ah yes, to be 41 wks pg again...

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 21:21

um...NQC...

does ONE mushroom count as a portion?

If so, I have had at least 7 additional portions.

Charleesunnysunsun · 07/09/2006 21:23

I think Mumsnetting is deffo excersise! I mean surley all that sitting on my bum sharing my charm, wit and life experience must do me some good? What with walking to the fridge at regular intivals to consume many many a peach i must be looking positivley radiant?

NotQuiteCockney · 07/09/2006 21:24

I'd think these mushrooms were a portion each - they were portobello ones, you know, the ones that are about 6 inches across, maybe more? With piles of spinach on top. :-P

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 21:26

hmmm

in that case it appears you can eat more than me

am impressed

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 21:26

I spent 1 h 15 at the gym and I am lifting big boy weights now

Got caught examining my biceps in the changing room mirror by another woman who walked in

they are quite good though

Oh, I can eat loads. I am a big girl. Often eat all the salad in the house, if nobody else gets to it first.

The mushrooms were very tasty - took huge bag of spinach (or chard? not sure), got rid of stems, wilted leaves, chopped them, mixed with grated cheese, garlic and olive oil, then piled on top of mushrooms. Roasted in oven.

Charleesunnysunsun · 07/09/2006 21:29

Well done Franny!

Do you look like this yet????

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 21:36

Oh jesus. I may stop going now.

Ugh. I dated someone (for some time!) who thought that sort of look was attractive. (Sorry, Frances, he's married now, though.)

I've remembered a more concrete example of my gluttony - I recently ate 1.5kg of raw peas.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 21:41

1.5 kg of raw peas?

NotQuiteCockney · 07/09/2006 21:42

Yup. At a M+T group. Just sat there, shelling and eating.

NotQuiteCockney · 07/09/2006 21:42

To be fair, the 1.5kg included the shells, which I did not eat. (I have known people who ate pea shells, though).

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 21:44

I wasn't going to mention that, NQC. I was being kind. You are still a scary pea eating freak, you know?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 07/09/2006 21:45

God, they were good peas, too.

I really can eat rather a lot when I want to.

DH freaking out about lost keyfob security thing, probably have to run away.

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 21:46

Did you eat it?

Hi All! Wow we have grown, with rabid munchers (oops, mustn't say rabid...I do lurk on the threads, you know...)

Gym this morning was brilliant..have lost .04lbs in two weeks - result!

V. long working day..fruit and veg. report binned.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 08/09/2006 07:21

M + T group?

My tally so far:

2 bananas, a satsuma and lots of raisin bread.

I thought seeds and pulses etc counted but not more than 1 portion cumulative max.

I ned advice on exercise. I have no time, I have sprained my ankle and worst of all, my mp3 player is buggered. What can I do?

FillyjonktheFluffy · 08/09/2006 07:21

oh, if you are worried about your keys, nqc, just ask hc, she's omniscient.
