Just had scan results and GP told me they found a 5.7 cm cyst on my left ovary. I've been getting mid cycle bleeding and though I was menopausal!

Anyone had one of these.?I did google but it's too scary.

I'm now waiting for a gynae appointment.

I'm home. Tired and a but sore and weak but so relieved it's done.

They removed a 6 cm dermoid cyst from my left ovary on Thursday by keyhole surgery. They managed to leave both ovary and tube intact, although the surgeon took photos and its a bit s t r e t c h e d as you can imagine. He was very keen to show me photos of my insides with attached cyst. It looked like a white ping pong ball.

Apparently I have a beautiful appendix!

I have 4 wounds and am on cocodamol for a week.

They do not do biopsies in case the cyst ruptures, they put them in a little bag send remove them that way. They washed my abdominal cavity and retained fluid for biopsy. They will also examine the cyst so I will get biopsy result in 6 weeks.

coilregret are you ok?

70 the woman next to me in the ward had had her gallbladder removed. She was fine afterwards.

theoriginalnutcracker how did you get on?

Glad you are ok ducky, sounds like it all went to plan.

My appointment went ok. The surgeon said she wanted to do my surgery asap but has to get a date that the other 2 surgeons can do too. She is now away on holiday but wrote to the other surgeons before she left, and she's back on 22nd, so I should know shortly after that when it will be.

She repeated what the other one had, that it will be major surgery. She did an internal and said I am plastered with endo. My mri shows that my bowel and bladder are really stuck to everything else too.
t the begining of my op they will be putting stents in the tubes that run from my kidneys to my bladder, to make them more visable. They will be removed 6 weeks after my surgery.
She couldn't give me a probablility of me ending up with a colostomy because she said it just dpends what happens when they open me up, but she said that if I do have one it should hopefully be reversable.

I will be put on HRT afterwards. The one i take for the first year will have something in it that stops the endo coming back, and then I will go on patches or gel.

I stupidly keep googling for stories of people who have had the sme op, and they pften aren't very good to read. My friend said though, that people who are having probs are more likelhy to go on a forum and post for advice, and the ones that sailed through it will be out enjoying themselves, so I must try and remember that.

They still don't think it will be cancerous but they just don't know until everything is tested afterwards.

I am starting to feel a bit freaked out by it tbh, and the never having more kids has it me hard too.

theoriginalnutcracker I don't blame you for feeling freaked. It's a lot to take in. Remember though they will give you worst case scenario and your friend is right ( although its hard to stop googling I know. )

I was going in on Thursday for ovary and tube removal and was warned it could go to open surgery beforehand. So I was pretty scared as I wasn't sure what I'd wake up with. In the end they were able just to remove cyst. So you may not need as much done as they are saying. Please try not to worry too much. I know its hard not to. The ca125 freaked me and I've still 6 weeks to wait for results but surgeon was reassuring and yours is probably raised because of the endo.

I think there is a thread on here for support for those getting hysterectomy surgery. I will try to find it for you.

Just an update. A week on and I'm slowly beginning to recover from the op.

First few days were a painful, tired blur. I was so exhausted after being in hospital, you get no sleep there. After 4 days mostly sleeping on cocodamol I realised I hadn't had a poo for 5 days. I wish the hospital had warned me. I rang GP who gave me Movicol, this is like drinking wallpaper paste but it works!

Now up and about more but still get very tired.

I wasn't told what to do about my stitches. The dressings came off after my first shower and I'm just assuming they will eventually dissolve as my next appointment is in 5 weeks time?

Anyone know?

Hi @BadgersNadgers I know this post is old but I’ve had no luck getting any experiences. I’ve got a 10cm right ovarian cyst. I’m due to give birth in 4 weeks and we’ve decided on an elective c section as the cyst has caused me pain through the whole pregnancy and even twisted my ovary when I was 17weeks pregnant.
How was your section and removal of cyst. How was the recovery. Any tips? Greatly appreciated.
