Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

OP posts:
Gigondas · 27/11/2013 08:32

Welcome au. Thread is for everyone including non breast cancer types so welcome.

Waiting on results is worst part along with period where you wait on Treatmebt plan. Hopefully this may not happen to you but if it does, there are many here who are proof that there is life during and after treAtmrnt. A lot can be done for bc so take much assurance from that.

Is dh or someone coming with you? Good idea always to have someone there to hear what dr says and ask questions as you may not remember to.

How do you cope? You just do - everyone finds a way. If you do get told its cancer, it is a shock and a form of bereavement for Life you knew. You need to allow yourself to go through that. Venting here helped me as someone can usually help as will have felt or seen as you do. There is life with new normal and it's possible to be happy too.

Telling others is personal - tell them when you feel able and as much or little as you want. Or get someone else to- I got dh too. Phone or email may be easier than face to face if worried about reaction.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Gigondas · 27/11/2013 08:35

See that soundswould like dh not coming see how it goes and then maybe tell him step by step with what dr says.

Cancer is treated as disability by law so boss can't discriminate which is why it's worth saying what it is. I Would wait til you know more of diagnosis and any Treatmebt before you tell.

How old are your dc as that depend on what you say.

weebarra · 27/11/2013 08:54

Hi all, hope you all well, not been on in a while, real life getting in the way of cancer, which is just how I like it! 2nd chemo today, such fun!
Hair has been coming out, so got DH to shave it off last night, doesn't look too bad!

malteserzz · 27/11/2013 09:16

Welcome au but fingers crossed for good results for you. As gigs said if it is bad news you cope because there's no alternative really and with kids you still end up cooking the tea and doing the washing !

Weebarra glad you're ok, good luck with chemo and well done for the shaving

Au79 · 27/11/2013 10:14

I don't get an appointment with doc today, just a phone call from the nurse. If necessary I guess they will arrange a full-on appointment. DH is pretty useless at this sort of thing so I will rely on a couple of friends/relative to chat with first.

My girls are 10 and 13, very busy with their own little lives ATM! Life goes on around me but I am frozen in the spotlight today!

foofooyeah · 27/11/2013 11:22

Welcome Au, so guess you are still in limbo? My DH also pretty useless (hes such a crybaby) so I go to appts on my own. Let us know when you have news.

I sadly have a very good friend going through same thing so we have become much closer and like to stick 2 proverbial fingers up at cancer by laughing ourselves stupid a lot of the time (and especially in the waiting room of the cancer clinic which may not be appropriate)

Today I am working this morning and going to gym this afternoon. Yes, you read that right, old fatty is off to do some exercise.

foofooyeah · 27/11/2013 11:24

weebarra well done on being brave and shaving hair off - think you are pretty young so you probably look fabulous!

BetsyBoop · 27/11/2013 13:04

welcome Au, though sorry you are here, fingers crossed for a temporary visit :) Waiting for results sucks.

Good to hear you are doing/sleeping better malt. I'm doing pretty good thanks. The days of bone aching weariness have lifted and I actually have energy some of the time! (and then it hits me like walking into a wall and I have to rest!) For the first time I can see that chink of light at the end of the tunnel - you aren't far behind me so you'll see it soon too :)

foo is going to the gym Shock That is my mission in the New Year too, once I've recovered from my op.

wee hope chemo goes smoothly today, without too many SEs

kitkat last chemo today I think? woohooo :)

gigs I hope Mr gigs man flu is getting better, he's proper poorly you know Grin

to everyone else

BetsyBoop · 27/11/2013 13:09

Oh and I forgot to say my hair seems to be taking an age to properly get growing again after chemo (is 7 weeks tomorrow and I'm still sporting the slightly bald fluffy chick look :( ), but that bloody rampant chin hair is back at full strength already, had to attack it with the tweezers this morning Angry Grin

Gigondas · 27/11/2013 13:18

Yes face palm for no mr gigs update - he said felt better but tired (thanks mini). We can all breath againWink.

My hair got stuck at gi Jane for about 7/8 weeks then got going.

So far no sign of loss but it's just on 2 weeks since relevant chemo so coming into the hairloss zone. Will see of cold cap worked - it was certainly tight and cold enough.

Wee - good for you for shaving it.

reallyreallyworried · 27/11/2013 13:18

Hi All

malt thanks for thinking of me. My face has cleared up pretty much! Still have a yukky scab, but at least the swelling has gone down Smile

Haven't been on for a while as been busy at work and then picked up a cold. So have been having a few early nights. Then just as I thought this week couldn't get any worse! My hair started to fall out yesterday Sad loads came out when I washed it, and then loads in my brush! I then told a couple of people hoping for a little support and was basically told, 'well never mind you knew it was going to happen'!!! Does the fact I knew mean I can't be upset/sad about it?? So had a little cry last night!

Feeling better today. Chatted with the children I look after, trying to prepare them. The older one said she thought it was sad, but that she would give me lots of kisses and hugs to make me feel better! The youngest asked if I was going to be a real pirate now Grin oh to be 4!!

Hope everyone is doing okay. Sounds like a few of you are heading towards the end of your treatments yay! I'm in for blood tests and to have a PICC line fitted next Wednesday, then all being well, Chemo next Thursday!!

Will have a proper read though when I get chance to see what you have all been up too!

Xxxxxxxx

Gigondas · 27/11/2013 13:21

X post really- yes very normal to cry and be sAd tho knew it would happen. It makes chemo more real iykwim.

So hugs for you. Pick out your fave wig or scarf and try to think of how nice it looks- small comfort but worked for me. I also piled on slap to feel better.

Your charges sound lovely- glad they helped a bit.

Lilymaid · 27/11/2013 13:39

Betsy my hair is still mainly white fluff and some very short proper hair. I reckon I may be able to go capless at night in a month, but realistically it won't be up to decent styling (and colour) until the summer.
Saw my GP today who said I looked very well. She's prescribed Cyclizine to help with the continuing nausea but may try hypnotherapy to help get rid of nausea (which I reckon is psychological) as well as to control my appetite should I ever feel hungry again!

malteserzz · 27/11/2013 13:48

So glad mr gigs is ok lol
Mr malts vasectomy has been put off a week so we can be spared that pain for a bit longer !
Really I'm glad you're ok apart from the hair and the cold. The hair is a big thing I was devastated, still am when I look at old photos of myself. But you do get used to covering it and getting on with things. Do you have a wig sorry I can't remember
Mine is growing but is grey !
Thanks Betsy and I'm glad you have more energy now
Lily sorry you're still nauseous

foofooyeah · 27/11/2013 14:28

Phew, I was so worried about Mr Gigs, think we need an hourly report .... as am sure you will get one Gigs Grin Wink

malteserzz · 27/11/2013 14:37

Have you been to the gym yet foo foo ? Good for you, I'm under my slanket watching 60 minute makeover Grin

Au79 · 27/11/2013 14:55

Hi again chaps

Looks like I'm here to stay. :-(

Cancerous cells all areas sampled.

Appointment for options on 6th.

Glad you are here. Going to have shower now before kids get home and the chores/mom'staxi rounds.

malteserzz · 27/11/2013 15:00

Au sorry to hear that but you'll get lots of support on here and we will all help you through
Be kind to yourself you've had an awful shock, it will get easier when you know what's what and how it's going to be treated

BetsyBoop · 27/11/2013 16:22

Au - bugger :( This is the worst bit, honestly, where everything you thought you knew is suddenly put into a spin. Once you get your "plan" you will feel more in control again, I promise. Any questions just shout up, nothing is out of bounds here. We are here for hand holding and Brew and Cake

Tiny100 · 27/11/2013 16:23

Au - Welcome and sorry that you find yourself here. Hopefully we will be of some help in answering the many questions that you must have and giving you support.

Good Luck with chemo today Wee and Congrats to KitKat for last chemo session and getting through it all.

Losing your hair is horrible Really, you are more than entitled to have a cry about it. I found it was a bit of a wake up call for me, that yes, this is really happening to me and I was ill, (even if I didn't feel like it).

Malt I was warned that hair can grow back grey Sad. Do you know if it will remain grey, unless attacked by the dye bottle? Isn't that sod's law Betsy, the hair you don't want seems to be the strongest?

Afternoon to everyone else, hope your doing okay - especially Mr Gigs Wink

Had appointment with my Onc today and he has prescribed an anti psychotic drug for my nausea. Shock I am also having the period from hell, which I had to discuss with him - God, if I though you lose dignity in childbirth then this is coming a close second. Anyway bloods all taken now and getting ready for chemo on Friday.

kitkat1967 · 27/11/2013 16:23

Malt - I had wondered if you and Gigs would be watching the new 60 minutes makeover!!!

So last chemo done - not sure how I feel really. Have an appt on Monday to get picc line taken out.

welcome Au - sorry you have to join us. This is often the worst part whilst you are waiting for your appointment and a plan.

Wifi and TV have been out all day so this is my first chance to get on-line. Also didn't get to see 60 minute makeover which i have been enjoying Smile.

Oh and DH sent me flowers today as chemo over which was a nice surprise (and very unlike him).

malteserzz · 27/11/2013 16:46

Tiny sorry but I laughed at the anti psychotic drug !
Kitkat how lovely of your dh to send you flowers :)
60 minute makeover is a bit weird now it's not actually in 60 minutes ! And PA doesn't seem to do a lot but pose in his dungarees ! Hey maybe we could apply now we've had cancer hmm

weebarra · 27/11/2013 19:57

Well done to those of you nearing the end, hope MrGigs is a bit better and welcome Au - it's pants to be here but I've found this thread wonderfully supportive.
Chemo today was fine, still feeling sick despite the tonnes of anti-emetics. I got a new one today too tiny, wonder if it was your antipsychotic?

Gigondas · 27/11/2013 20:27

Welcome but sorry you are here au.

That's nice of your dh kitkat.

Malt how have I missed pa is on 60 minute makeover- will have to watch.

Still feeling ok (touch wood) so making mincemeat tonight.

Tiny100 · 27/11/2013 20:45

If it is Wee, I think it is meant to knock you out, so you might miss Sleb Jungle tonight.

What a lovely hubby you have KitKat.

Glad you are still SE free Gigs.

Forgot to add earlier that I have been offered genetic testing, (due to age/TNBC). Has anyone else been offered this? If you have, did you decline or go for it? What were your reasons behind this. My minds is a bit blank on this one, I blame the chemo.
