Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

foofooyeah · 24/11/2013 22:51

Betsy, hope your ok? Let us know how you are tomorrow.

Tiny, I did laugh at your comment about receiving Jennifer Saunders biography .... If anyone gives me tat I may clout them with it.

I have had a day of doing not much at all, but restarting lake walks tomorrow.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/11/2013 23:43

Chemo #3 for me tomorrow. I did really well last two cycles. But I did too much this week and went to bed too late most of this week. I'm tired today, hope my bloods are ok...

I got most of my Xmas shopping done too. We only buy for our own kids, god children and our parents. On-line shopping, especially Amazon, was my friend these last few weeks.

trice · 25/11/2013 00:30

Hi all, new phone so I can post. I have been lurking about though.

Christmas is throwing me into a spin. Having nearly died this summer and having incurable advanced breast cancer I am having trouble buying pressies. What if this is my last Christmas and I give crap presents? Will my brother have to keep the sausage making machine I bought him forever as it was my last gift to him? Should I blow the budget on the kids to account for the forty odd years of gifts I would have bought them if I could?

Stupid brain keeps running in unhelpful circles.

Sorry to put this here when you are all worrying about future reoccurrence, I had a huge tumour and pretty much all my nodes were affected, oncologist was always surprised that I didn't have spread earlier. You lot will hopefully be fine.

trice · 25/11/2013 00:48

Tiny, please don't worry about the positive attitude - it doesn't make any difference to your recovery. Amber probably has the stats.

You can't be expected to be perky. Bits of you have gone scarily wrong.

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 07:22

It's nice to hear from you trice - it sounds like you have recovered from your op a bit more now.
I understand your issue with present buying but you can only do your best. I did a bit of budget blowing on bday presents this summer and i'm not even in your position but desperation took over. On the other hand maybe everyone is sweating over what to get you - like the others if i get JS autobiog it will be hurled back.
Mind you the sausage machine sounds interesting - am off to Google now Grin.

I finally feel a bit better today - have been struggling with SEs plus this week is last chemo but like others have said I don't feel the elation that I thought I would. It's yet another week of SEs to get through followed by the unknown.

malt - we looked at holidays last night - think the soonest we can go in Easter (my kids have 3 weeks off so can get a cheap week) - but it's hard to find somewhere hot enough but not too long a flight. Will get brochures today!

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 07:34

Wow - just seen that you can get mincer\sausage maker attachment for Kenwood chef major - my sis has one that she loves to use so think her and b-inlaw will get this gadget for Xmas -thanks trice.

trice · 25/11/2013 08:28

Kitkat, you made me laugh! Spread the sausage joy!

I appreciate that people have the same problem buying things for me. My dm has bought me a diamond pendant. Very expensive, but I don't wear jewellery so it will go in a drawer for dd. She just wanted me to know she loves me. She could have shown that with artisan chutney fgs. I love her too but she is getting hand cream.

malteserzz · 25/11/2013 08:44

Morning all
Betsy how are you today ? Hope you got some sleep and get it sorted
Kitkat been wondering how you were, good that chemo is nearly done and I will say that 2 1/2 weeks after I've finished mine all side effects have gone apart from the tiredness so hang in there
Mom of 2 hope your chemo goes ok today
Trice sausage maker sounds fab it's just the skins that would put me off !

Waving at everyone else from my cosy bed, will get up later meeting a friend for shopping and lunch

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 08:49

If I ever drag myself out of bed I am going Xmas shopping today - heading for the new Lakeland shop so it's going to be practical presents from me this year. (Am excited as have never been in the shop before - hopefully they'll have some gift type items).

Also am sat here in bed thinking I could do with some new bedding - sick of looking at this set now!!

malteserzz · 25/11/2013 08:53

Enjoy the Lakeland shop Kitkat ! Meant to say how about the canaries at Easter ?

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 08:54

malt - am still here - just been really fed up and have had bad peripheral neuropathy so haven't been able to type. Glad to hear the SEs haven't hung around for too long - I am on a major count down now but also know that next weekend will be awful as each week is worse than the one before. On the plus side the SEs generally go within the week so fingers crossed that in about 10 days I'll start to feel better. Really really had enough now Sad.

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 09:08

Hmmm not sure about the temps - will have a look though. Looked at Morocco and Tunisia - will get some brochures today. My op is pencilled in for 17th Jan so end of April should be OK I think??? I was thinking we'd only do last minute hols for a while (just in case we have to cancel) but have decided we can't live like that so just gonna go ahead and book something.
just want somewhere to go and rest with a bit of sunshine.

Knittingnovice · 25/11/2013 09:13

Trice,I'm having the same thoughts, my bowel cancer is inoperable, so who knows what will be going on next year. I am going on the live for the moment, so making sure this Christmas is special and if we have another one make that special etc.

Oh Kitkat, I remember the peripheral neuropathy from first time round, I eventually had to stop the oxaliplatin that was causing it for me as it as not ceasing, might be worth talking to your onc.

RL caught up this weekend and DH, me and DD2 did a wedding, everyone was so lovely and ignored the cancer, and just massive compliments for me on getting on with it. DS and DD1 stayed with MIL, but don't want to do that again, they would rather stay with my parents I have been informed this morning by DD1?

Will try and keep up, but damn RL keeps getting in the way, but it am halfway through this round of chemo, so only 3 sessions to go!!

BetsyBoop · 25/11/2013 10:45

good to hear from you trice - Christmas is a bit of a conundrum isn't it, but I've just gone for a "normal" approach in the end - and if you can't get it from Amazon you're not having it Grin

great it's your last chemo this week kitkat :) but sorry you are suffering from PN too, mine still hasn't gone away but it is slowly getting better. It's a pain isn't it? Lakeland is fab (have visited the Windermere store many times Grin)

Glad to hear you are feeling better malt :) My tiredness is fading now too, and I almost have energy (although I still have days where a nanna nap is an essential!), so hang in there. Not too long for your op either, and you'll be well on the way to recovery in time for Christmas :)

knitting you are half way Shock that's gone quickly ( to me anyway!)

I've arranged to see the BCN at 2pm - she wants to check me over - I guess it's hard to do that on the phone! The swelling doesn't seem quite so bad/tight today - that will be because DH banished me to sit on the couch all day yesterday damn, I hate it when he's right Grin

Oh and yes of anyone dares to buy me the Jennifer Sauders book it will go on the log burner after I have battered them round the head with it!

HerNextDoorAt21 · 25/11/2013 14:06

Just thought I would pop by and say hello and that i read your posts when I can ...... I feel a bit in limbo at the moment and just waiting for reconstruction of both boobs hopefully in the new year ... need to lose a few more pounds first.

Worrying about my mammogram on my remaining boob which will be done early next month :( This time last year I was compeltely oblivious to having cancer !

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 14:19

hello HND - I can't believe you are having more surgery - I thought your 'bad' boob was finally done? What are you having done next?

malteserzz · 25/11/2013 15:03

Hope everyone's having a good day. Went to my friends for coffee then to asda and I'm shattered now ! Feet up with a chocolate eclair Smile

BetsyBoop · 25/11/2013 18:40

well I know know how they drain a seroma, it's a bit odd, but not at all painful. The BCN got 300ml out Shock. She has pencilled me in for another draining on Fri pm. Still no histology results though, grr... apparently they have a backlog...

Gigondas · 25/11/2013 20:58

It's weirdly satisfying isn't it betsey? Had mine drained and had persistent milk blister with dd1.

Hope all well -Envy at eclair malt . Round 2 tomorrow of chemo

Gigondas · 25/11/2013 20:59

For me. Horrid fever making bone drug too Angry.

On ambridge matters, bloody shame darell wasn't run over. And how long til Helen flips.

BetsyBoop · 25/11/2013 21:31

DH was asking me what it was like gigs and I said think really big blister we both love popping them - yes strangely satisfying Grin

I hope your chemo goes well and you avoid the bone-achiness and fever this time.

Gigondas · 25/11/2013 21:46

I bloody loved the feeling when mine were drained. I have told you my seroma pus pornstory?

Kitkat i- how far are you in greys 9 now?

BetsyBoop · 25/11/2013 22:15

ooh no, do tell Grin

kitkat1967 · 25/11/2013 22:43

gigs - not started series 9 yet as am watching Covert Affairs (as recommended by Ruby) - am on series 2 already. I can watch that on Netflix so keeping Greys for when I have no wifi. I've also been recommended Breaking Bad so that's after Covert Affairs for me.

trice - I have ordered the sausage making attachment and skins and aaa sausage book!!

Lakeland trip was successful today - have made great progress on list Smile.

Gigondas · 25/11/2013 22:55

Lakeland good for pressies as had successful shop there last week. Covert affairs and breaking bad on my list to watch.

My lovely seroma was big As I had a massive lump removed on my bum. When it burst it happened in bed and there must have been two pints of mess. Can't tell you how thrilled mr gigs was as he tried to wash out the mattress topper in the bath and I stood in the shower waiting for rest of muck to drain Grin. The in sickness part of our vows tested that nightWink.
