Smelly LadyGarden

Changed name for this.

My nether regions smell very strongly. The only thing I can compare it to is pilchards. It's not a fishy smell as such but I still smell very strongly.

I have not got an infection as I have checked. Can anyone offer any solutions to this.

There are other things than thrush which cause extra 'fragrance'. And a lot can change in 6m. You really ought to get it checked out again. It could be BV, which can sort itself out or linger for ages. Antibiotics work well on BV.

Are you using Lactacyd on your garden? It's from Boots as well, and I find it very helpful (yes, it's true, we do get minging minges from time to time). Also, try using pantyliners and changing them every couple of hours or less. That can make quite a difference.

spacedonkey · 20/06/2006 23:26

NotAnOtter, that's what I had - it was always after sex that it flared up, very odd. Anyway that's what it was and the antibiots sorted it out, although I then got thrush as I always do on antibiots grrr

It's nothing to do with lack of cleanliness though so no need to be embarrassed

yes ucm that was it - only got when ttc but took antibiotics and it went! Poor lamb!

UCM · 20/06/2006 23:27

Only started using it about 2 weeks ago to try to minimise the whiff

ladygardens should smell good - i would never use any gubbins on it - if it does not smell good its ill and needs a doctor!

UCM · 20/06/2006 23:30

I can just see it now. I'll put a card up for inspection and Mumsnetters will be saying Oh is that one of so & so's, the other will answer no, it's the one with the smelly fadge, pilchard something or other...... Gawd

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 20/06/2006 23:31

I don't think it does, Calfinoriafrau. I use it when I have downstairs problems, and it always helps. But if the whiff is caused by something like BV, then it's not going to have any major effect.

UCM · 20/06/2006 23:31

Anyway, does anyone know if hubbys can carry this VB, like they can thrush and yes, I will get antibiotics which will give me thrush too

OP posts:
NotAnOtter · 20/06/2006 23:32

NO DH had no treatment

UCM · 20/06/2006 23:32

NAO, I agree. Will see one.

Have been reading this thread with a major LOL, thanks all!

"UCM" (ahem) fishy smell often comes with UTI - not necessarily painful - could it be that?

spacedonkey · 20/06/2006 23:33

Ask your doc for thrush meds at the same time, that's what I do (as long as they're ok to have when pg that is)

Well, I don't know what causes BV tbh, but it only happened to me with this particular partner and it did keep recurring

soapbox · 20/06/2006 23:33

Hee hee hee - UCM - classic, really classic

anyway - thrush doesn't normally smell - just itchy! So prob not thrush.

Could be a UTI though - very very common in pregnancy.

Go to your doc - they've heard it all before. Just don't go in disguise

PS I never had it again after I split up with him!

VVVQV · 20/06/2006 23:36

pmsl UCM! Thought it was a wind up when i read the first sentence about changing your name for this.

Anyhooooooo - pg hormones can cause a change in smell and discharge. That is possibly and probably what is causing it. Would get your GP to check your "mimsie" out (PMSL MeggLV!)

muma3 · 20/06/2006 23:37

so thats what is was i think i have had BV before and its bloody nasty everyone around can smell it .
once the first time i had it i was at school about 13 14 and i made out that my mum and borrowed my trainers when she went on hols and put them in bag with kippers and it was my trainers that smelt . i had a really watery discharge that wouldnt stop it soaked me and it was so smelly i felt sick . had it twice and it sorted itself out i think.

it happens to the best of us

UCM · 20/06/2006 23:37

Errrm food for thought. I will seek medical help with my problem and discuss whether DH could be giving it back & forth. I have had this for quite a while, but it's gotten worse since pg. I literally assumed it was normal as you get older after speaking to one or two friends.

Out of curiosity, why do you think my name change didn't work. I clicked save changes twice.
