Just hopping on quickly to wishgigs all the best for today - thinking about you.

amberlight · 13/08/2013 09:20

I am also one of those disturbed types, Gigs, oh yes Grin

Malt, I asked the Onc if I could tail off the steroids very slowly and mine agreed to that. So instead of 5 tablets, 3, 1, none (or similar) it was 4,3,2,2,1,1 or similar. Seemed to help a bit. And knowing it was the medication and not some profound end of the world helped me a bit too. Otherwise anti depressants to help through that bit. Wonder if even St Johns Wort would help (but bet that clashes with chemo so do ask).
NotJ, looking forward to hundreds of pics of camper vans Smile
Invicta, hi and fab news about the mammo!!
Shooting, I admire your way with words. Can't wait for that new Dr Who myself... Blush

Shootingatpigeons · 13/08/2013 09:37

gigs Once is a musical, it started on Broadway, won lots of awards but I had not been to see it because all the PR, performances on Graham Norton etc made it look like American schmaltz. Actually it is Irish and based on a low budget movie about an Irish singer songwriter and Czech girl, the songs are good, singer songwriter /folksy and the people on stage all play different instruments and play all the music as well as dancing acting and singing, I have never seen so many people leap to their feet for standing ovation.

Hope they don't keep you waiting for op and will have everything crossed.

More palaces and tower today and Horrids

jchoc Envy of beach

nj have a great time in Wales, look forward to pictures.

Shootingatpigeons · 13/08/2013 09:52

X posted amber yes I too looking forward to new Dr, not so much because of Malcolm which was brilliant but obviously also down to Iannucci as well, but lots of other (non sweary) stuff he has done, the Hour, when he played Charles I , I think we are in for a treat.

Lactoferrin looks right up my street, bone building, though might be in my bone building Calcium supplement which has a cocktail of other stuff in it.

Forgot to mention I too have supplements recommended by nutritionist via Oncy. I think gigs also does milk thistle, which has the added benefit of being good for hangovers topsy

HerNextDoorAt21 · 13/08/2013 10:07

I didn't get topsy a shopping trolley but did stand on the doorstep to make sure she got in her house OK. She them sent me photos of a lovely pre-bed fried egg and tomato supper with bread and butter ! I managed leftover popcorn from my DS and a crisp sandwich !

You must think we are such lushes ..... we do have a life outside of wine you know - I just thought she deserved a bottle of her favourite wine last night and I needed to take in the news myself - we did manage a laugh or three though in the face of bastard cancer !

gigs hope all goes well for you today

Hi and a very happy Tuesday to everyone else

topsyturner · 13/08/2013 11:09

(Staggers in clutching head and Brew )

Morning All

Gigs you still here ?
No bionification started yet ?
I shall light a candle for you this afternoon .

Today I shall mostly be washing clothes for our holidays .
We leave first thing Saturday morning , and I shall mostly be incommunicado for a whole week .
The house we stay in is in the Land That Time Forgot , and I can't eBen get mobile phone signal let alone Internet Shock !

I've decided to put all this Cancer Shite behind me till we return .
When I get back I will concentrate on all my Imagined Cancers Of Invented Organs Wink
But whilst I'm on holiday it's "Fuck you Cancer !" Grin

Who's manning the Drunk Food Trolley today , think I'm gonna be a frequent visitor ...

Gigondas · 13/08/2013 11:25

Nope still waiting - reckon might be a couple of hours yet so going quietly mad. May need two ops as need to go front/back to clean up mess but here is hoping can do it in one(they said might need two ops for neck too).

I thoroughly recommend binning cancer on holiday-managed to do it for most of mine except when had to chat to dr.

Would cheerfully attack the fbs if I was allowed.

malteserzz · 13/08/2013 11:33

Topsy great idea about binning all the cancer rubbish on hols, hope you've packed plenty of wine
Gigs hope you're hanging in there and not too bored
Amber she suggested reducing my steroids, instead of taking 2 a day for 3 days just taking 1 a day. Not sure I want to upset the apple cart though as I felt so well this cycle. As you said maybe knowing its just chemical will help this cycle, also dh is more prepared for it
Apart from that onc appointment bit of a waste of time really everything fine, bloods from yesterday all ok. She told me to go out etc as usual, don't need to take your own cutlery to restaurants I said I'd not even thought of that lol !

notJenkins · 13/08/2013 14:07

Thought I'd let you know I had a message from EMIN she has been in a hospice for a few weeks but hopefully will be along to update us soon.

topsyturner · 13/08/2013 14:32

That's great nj , thanks for letting us know x

malteserzz · 13/08/2013 17:46

Yes thanks for letting us know

jchocchip · 13/08/2013 21:30

Checking in for news of gigs. Good to hear that emin is safe and will be back soon. topsy and hnd Grin about not quite needing shopping trolley. Been out for walk on cliff path. Lots of path gone over last 25 years. Nice sunset. Looking forward to another couple of carloads to the tip tomorrow (joys of house clearance) and then to spending the day at turner at margate with dds While dh and mil carry on sorting out. May have a round of crazy golf too! Have lots of random things for trolley microwave puddings and old marmite.for a start...

KurriKurri · 13/08/2013 22:11

NJ - thanks for update, - Emin hope to see you back soon xx

Hope all went well for Gigs today.

topsy - have a great holiday, we will sit firmly on the paranoia box for you, you just enjoy yourself Smile

Spent an hour an a half in the bank today - I nearly passed out from boredom, - went in for something relatively simple and basically they wouldn't do it for me until I'd been subjected to my 'annual financial review' which has now been printed out for me and put in a special folder.
My stomach was rumbling really embarrassingly loudly all the time - the bank woman kept asking if she could get me a drink of water Grin

And since I got home, I've been very sick, so have just been sitting about looking pale and interesting! (and reading a book)

Walk sounds lovely jchoc, - good luck with the house clearing - it's a hell of a job IME (have been doing similar with my Mum's stuff)

love to all.

StitchingMoss · 13/08/2013 22:25

jchocchip · 13/08/2013 23:03

Hi stiching. Thanks for the update. Nighty night everyone. I saw a meteor earlier so may pop out again later if I'm awake. Was too knackered yesterday. Did have cat drama today, phone call from neighbour worried he was locked in. Cat sitter teenage friend of dd2 just slept in a bit...

topsyturner · 13/08/2013 23:53

Thanks for the update Stitching , please tell Gigs we're sending her lots of healing vibes (and pink sparkly shit Grin )

Got a £50 off voucher in the post today for Vision Express . So think I might treat myself to a pair of prescription sunglasses .
Haven't been able to afford to update mine for a few years , so that was a nice surprise to get the voucher !

Can't sleep again .
DS and I are in the sitting room . Me on tinterweb , and DS reading a book
He's just starting The Book Thief - I was impressed !

Think I shall crochet for a while ...

malteserzz · 14/08/2013 08:27

Topsy hope you got some sleep ? Yay to glasses voucher !
Ruby shopping is always good Smile
Jchoc I meant to look for the meteors last night but was too tired
Hope gigs is waking up feeling ok this morning and not too groggy
Im taking the kids into town today for school shoes and nice lunch. Won't get the chance for proper shopping as ds very impatient in shops he hates shopping!
Hope everyone has a good day

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/08/2013 09:13

good morning - apologies for absence yesterday - was thinking of gig and thanks v much for update stitchingmoss
Thanks nj for emin update- lots of love emin xx
Had a long but lovely day in London yesterday- much walking - Waterloo to Somerset House to see the Hawksmoor exhibition, then walked to the Royal Academy to see the Richard Rogers then back to Covent garden to buy art stuff, sweeties at the wonderful Swedish sweetie shop and then to Wahaca for supper...and back to Waterloo.
I think the new Doctor will be great- he was Uncle Rory in The Crow Road...
Not sure what's planned today - I shall be knackered by the end of the week !

Shootingatpigeons · 14/08/2013 10:01

stitiching thanks for the news of gigs. We are all thinking of her.

Mas we probably passed each other as we did Kensington Palace, Harrodsburg and the Tower yesterday. Ha! That was an ipad autocorrect but I am going to leave it. Sounds a lovely day. We did Courtauld with last set of visitors and I am ashamed to say had not been before. We did one of the other exhibitions, the photography but I am looking forward to a full explore. Little pigeon may apply to Courtauld. Depends on tomorrow, her results, and with neice departing my stomach seems to be filling with lead at the thought.

topsy have a great trip into the land without phone signals.

MrGigs · 14/08/2013 10:03

Morning ladies.

MrGigs here, reporting from the bedside of Gigs. Op went ok, she has pins in and the next stage will be check out whether she needs another op to further strengthen.

Today she hopes to move back to the ordinary ward from intensive care. She's like you to know that the drugs are great and the food is ok. Depending on whether a second op is necessary she should be sprung middle of next week.

She loves you all...

Shootingatpigeons · 14/08/2013 10:12

Hi mr gig thanks for the update. Just hoping that stage 1 bionification is enough. Sending lots of love back.
