Hello all! New thread as we have almost filled the last one. Help yourself to chocolate chip muffins from the trolley! :)

I'm completely cross-eyed after recent Events, but getting there, thanks KK. Definitely looking after myself better, after many wise words of firmness from friends and family.

Topsy, I take the 250mg once a day ones for lactoferrin. It's not woo; there's quite a bit of stuff coming through the science thinkings about how the body's own immune system is linked in with the cities of gut bacteria (yuk) (but hey, if it works...). Well worth getting to PubMed website and bunging in Lactoferrin and Cancer and having a read through.

topsyturner · 12/08/2013 20:40

Thanks Amber
I did read about lactoferrin and colostrum , it seems to be able to help a wide range of problems doesn't it ?

Do I need to check with oncs before taking do you reckon ?
And (as we get free prescriptions over here) can you get it on prescription ?

topsyturner · 12/08/2013 20:41

Much love and hugs to you all today .
Sorry I'm doing a bit of "selfish posting"
Normal service will be resumed once I've got my head around this .

amberlight · 12/08/2013 20:57

Nope re prescription stuff, I believe. Think it's counted as a herbal supplement type of thing rather than medicine. My Onc was the top one in the UK and was totally relaxed about me taking it (only got the top one through sheer accident as she was covering for someone else). So by all means check but it should be fine.
And be as selfish as you like with today's stuff in your brain.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2013 21:02

topsy think you are more than entitled to make this about you for a change.

invicta · 12/08/2013 21:03

Hi everyone, do you remember me? I haven't been around for months but felt like checking in and saying 'hi'. Glad to see some familiar faces around.

I had good news last week. Had my one year mammogram and appointment and it came back clear. Yippee!

Did Pink ever make a return visit? She was a regular poster when I first reading this thread, was going for an appointment, and then disappeared. I keep thinking of her.

Is anyone else on goserelin injections and tamoxifen. I'm developing a spare tyre around my tummy, and wondering if this is the cause.

I haven't read all the thread, but hope every one is doing well.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/08/2013 21:27

Hi invicta, I think you must've posted before I joined, fabulous news about your mammogram! :)

topsy more than understandable to be talking about yourself, you provide so much support to others so don't think you're being selfish at all! Bugger about the naughty node, but good news it's nowhere else and that it is being lazy :)

amber good you're looking after yourself better :) and thanks for the tips about lactoferrin. First result on pubmed is about colorectal cancer so really should get myself some. Especially as I don't have so many but bacteria left!

Waving to all, I hope you're having a good evening. My nausea wore off eventually so feeling much better now :) also got a spare DVD player and took apart the old one to rescue SATC so normal service resumed Grin

Hi invicta - nice to hear from you.

Topsy you are more than entitled to be self centred. I can go over my supplements too if it helps - most of which are recommended by dietician that works with my onc.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/08/2013 21:41

gigs if you don't mind at some point I'd love to hear what supplements you're taking as I have no idea where to start with mine :) but no rush!! Did you have a nice dinner?

OP posts:
Gigondas · 12/08/2013 21:50

Very nice indeed and a cheeky Bellini .

Have had 2 drs and nurse come into do checks since then ... No beard stroking tho Smile

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/08/2013 22:07

Ooh lovely! Hope the checks calm down so you can get some sleep :) did you kidnap one of mini's badgers this time?

OP posts:
foofooyeah · 12/08/2013 22:41

a confusion of beardy medical types ?

malteserzz · 12/08/2013 22:41

Night all x
Gigs hope you manage to get some sleep and that it's not too noisy

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/08/2013 22:53

waving to invicta and hooray for clear mammo Grin - excellent !

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/08/2013 23:05

A bristle?

gigs sleep well and fingers crossed for no night time interruptions.

If anyone happens to be awake during the night there's meant to be a really good meteor shower tonight. I've been out but it's a bit too light here still to see much. I might have seen one, but might have imagined it. I'd forgotten how amazing it is to just stand outside under the night sky and realise how tiny I am in the grand scheme of things, awesome in the true sense of the word :)

Sleep well all x

OP posts:
topsyturner · 12/08/2013 23:17

Oh that's right Ruby , it's the Persied meteors tonight !
Pity I'm too hammered to make it outside ...

KurriKurri · 12/08/2013 23:33

Hi invicta - lovely to see you again, and great that you;ve had a clear mammo Smile

DD mentioned that the Perseid meteors are on show tonight - but it's quite cloudy here so not sure we'll get much of a view. Hope you manage to see them Ruby - although maybe you'd rather aim for a decent nights sleep atm!

Am liking confusion and bristle for the beardy ones Grin

Much love for tomorrow Gigs, - I'm out (bank stuff -v.dull) so probably won't be online until later, but will be thinking of you.

Night night all

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/08/2013 23:42

topsy perhaps HND can wheel you out in a shopping trolley? Grin

kk hope the bank stuff isn't too time consuming.

I very rarely sleep through the night so will try and remember to look out on the way to the loo! Grin it's lovely and clear here so fingers crossed. I shall make wishes for you all if I see any! :)

F*k, fck, mcfkety fk Topsy , it really is a mcfkety f*king bugger but slow growing and one place, and chemo and Herceptin in reserve is all good. Lots of hugs, and more importantly Wine

Lots of hugs and Wine for gigstoo. You can help get me fit too. I think a few walks in the park with goondog are in order. All this tour guiding with friends has been reminding me what a lovely place we live in. And obviously he is going to do his best badger impersonation first....

kk Please get Facebook, I need to compare Marrows Courgettes apart from anything else but you can secretly uncloak there. Have had a succession of visitors. I am therefore having a fine time discovering that I really should get out more Grin .

Ruby Envy of stickers

Invicta yes to Tamoxifen spare tyre entirely unrelated to cake it changes where you put weight on. I have a friend who was stick thin but developed a Tamoxifen roll.

Just saw Once with cheap ticket booth tickets, somehow all the PR had me thinking it was all American schmaltz but not at all, and both the leads were understudies and totally amazing.

jchocchip · 13/08/2013 06:39

Wine for topsy :(
Had nice walk yesterday. Got to get up fill car and go to tip before beach today...

Gigondas · 13/08/2013 07:37

Should have watched Perseid rather than reading/watching montalbano and having bit of a disturbed night. Would kill for a Brew but water only for me.

Hope you topsy, ruby and other disturbed types got some sleep. No badger this time as I forgot - plus badger family has expanded (she got 2 more last week) but there is much outrage if take any away . This sort of defeats point as were meant to be some spare for loss/washing. I caught her burying all of them under floor of travel cot last week (you can lift it up) so she could lie on them.

There is a lot of excitement tho for the little gigs as they are off to peppa pig world today. Mini just started to get into peppa in a big way. Big likes the rides tho she tries to make out peppa is for babies.

Yes park walks sound great idea pigeon- but what was once? Being dim emoticon here.

Might be on a lot today as will be having pre op wobble . Haven't got any visitors as didn't seem much point when didn't know when I would go in.

Amber sending you very big hugs after your hard few days.

malteserzz · 13/08/2013 07:43

Morning gigs, shame about water only hope they don't keep you waiting too long to go down Will be thinking of you lots today
We looked for the meteors last night and saw a star moving but couldn't understand why it was going up and across very slowly, realised later it was the international space station we saw doh !
Up early as got onc appointment at 945Hmm going out for nice tea and cakes again this afternoon though !

Gigondas · 13/08/2013 07:58

Tea and cakes sound good- it is nice to see you feel you can get out and about. Hope onc goes well- have you got list of questions ?

malteserzz · 13/08/2013 08:09

Thank you
Not really got a list of questions, if like to know if there's anything I can do to avoid the depression I had this cycle I'm sure it was related to the coming off the steroids. Apart from that side effects have been fine, had indigestion only once. My eyes are starting to feel sore so ill ask about that.
Hope the little gigs enjoy peppa pig world it sounds lovely for that age Smile

notJenkins · 13/08/2013 08:22

Popping in to say hope today goes ok and not too much hanging round gigs

As everyone else has said topsy sorry about the shitty news but glad to hear it is slow growing. It will be zapped for sure soon enough if needed.

I am busy busy at work before my lovely lovely leave coming up. I will bore you to death with camper van and scenery pics on fb of our grand tour of Wales. It is a long time since I headed north so I am really looking for ward to it.

ned I have 2 weeks off after our grand tour before the low iodine diet hell starts so we must go out for a very high iodine lunch Grin
