Hello all! New thread as we have almost filled the last one. Help yourself to chocolate chip muffins from the trolley! :)

OP posts:
malteserzz · 14/08/2013 10:42

Thanks for letting us know mr gigs, sending love back x

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/08/2013 10:57

love to gig and thanks Mrgig - hope you've recovered from Peppa Pig world...
Courtauld would be good place to go for little pigeon I'd think...
T still in bed, not sure what we'll do today- dh suggested Hayling Island but looks a bit cloudy to me...

smee · 14/08/2013 11:01

Hooray for Gigs. Will keep my fingers crossed for no need for another op next week.

Buggeration on that pesky node, Topsy. G'ah to cancer. Holiday and putting cancer firmly away for it sounds like the way to go. Huge hugs from me xx predictive typing changed 'hugs' to 'guts'Grin

Useless as ever but I can't read back and keep up. Waving a hip-hip to Invicta for her mammo though. Yay!! I did e-mail Pink to try and see if she was okay, but she never replied. That was ages ago though. I still think of her too. Pink if you're out there come say hi if you can.

Good to hear Earth might be back soon. Hope you're feeling a bit more your old self and drugs are fixed.

Better go - bikes are out for some epic bike ride to a beach a huge hike away. I can't keep up so tootle along at my own pace and get laughed at. Wish you all something similarly sunny. Will nip back to check on Gigs xx

amberlight · 14/08/2013 11:57

Love to Gigs here too.

Topsy, can I ask a mad question? Have your team mentioned operating on the rudely behaved bit? If not, why not?

Hi everyone else

KurriKurri · 14/08/2013 12:03

Morning (just!) all,

MAS - sounds as if you had a lovely day out in that there London Town Grin - is T waiting for results atm or have they already come out? (I've lost track of such things since mine two left school) any way good luck to him if he is still waiting - nervous times!

Lots of love to you Gigs if you are up to reading messages, - glad it all went well darling and you are feeling OK.
Thanks for update MrGig - hope you are secretly digging with a tin mug, and carrying out soil in your trouser legs so that Gig can be sprung asap Smile

Love Peter Capaldi - I think he'll be a great Doctor (of the Who variety obviously, I'm sure he'd be beyond crap in a hospital environment)

Am trying to send out press releases for my art society's summer exhibition - finding what part of the paper to send it to and attaching photos etc is quite hard for an old Luddite such as me, but I am nearly done now.

Once I have got this exhibition out of the way (It's only a local thing but quite a lot of work arranging stuff, booking artists, throwing a cheese and wine partyHmm etc so taking up most of my time atm) I will join FB and share photos of my courgettes, tomatoes and knitting Grin

love to all - enjoy the cycling Smee - I am off cycling tomorrow (14 miles to book club - is it worth it I as myself?)

KurriKurri · 14/08/2013 12:04

I ask myself

KurriKurri · 14/08/2013 12:05

Afternoon amber Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/08/2013 12:16

results day is 22nd !! yikes.
Yes, would be interested to hear about removal of node,if that's possible. There was a thing some time ago about removing lung nodules but think it's a bit too complicated as they are scattered about (and besides which secondaries can be lurking unseen anywhere, which is a bit grim)
So,today is shopping for college stuff, files, pens and whtnot, some vests for dh for winter (he is v organised) I will insist on looking in the Gap and Paperchase. Then cinema - the Alan Partridge film...
My whole home routine is disrupted by dh being off and doing all this galivanting, which is v nice but makes me a bit anxious.
Have a good cycle today smee and kk !

amberlight · 14/08/2013 13:25

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23391172 is an article about how surgery for one rude bit in lungs seems to add a whack of extra length of time. But it could well be that your version doesn't match with their particular group so no getting excited. Just worth a chat with the team, I reckon.

KurriKurri · 14/08/2013 13:50

Ooh have fun at the Alan Partridge film MAS, - DH went with some workmates to see the publicity for the film premier in Norwich a couple of weeks ago. He took some photos of Steve Coogan in AP mode, and came home wearing a huge AP mask Grin
DH also went to Antiques Roadshow which was in Norwich that week - but only as a background lurker - we don't have any antiques to get valued! Grin

Good luck to T for 22nd - am sure he will be fine Smile what is he doing for his 'A' levels? (sorry if I have asked before - my memory is appalling, - I seem to remember he is doing a music course, - but I might well be getting muddled because of all his singing work)

I love a good browse in paperchase!

topsyturner · 14/08/2013 14:17

As the news is sinking in , I have started to wonder about that Amber
I was thinking of targeted radio therapy .
All the Onc talked about was chemo .
I will have a read of that article and a big thunk !
Thanks Amber

Shootingatpigeons · 14/08/2013 15:22

MAS You will approve. I suggested to Little pigeon that we go to the flics to see the AP film tonight to take her mind off results day tomorrow. She said no, two friends are coming round and they are going to burn incense and meditate. Smile

malteserzz · 14/08/2013 17:00

Let us know what the AP film is like Mas, I fancy going to see that
Had nice day with the kids though shocked that a plain pair of boys school shoes from clarks are £45 !

amberlight · 14/08/2013 17:28

I am of course not a doctor, but there is SO much more available than just chemo. Definitely worth talking through targeted therapies based on your genetics, or radiotherapy, or both, and the surgery aspect too. Frankly they've barely tried anything yet so I'm sure they've plenty up their proverbial sleeve.

BetsyBoop · 14/08/2013 19:09

Just checking in

Glad to hear gigs op went well, fingers crossed you can avoid needing another one. Thanks for the updates mrgigs and stitching

Thanks for the update on emin nj - sending hugs to emin and hope to see you on here again soon.

malt hope all goes well tomorrow (will say it now as I know you have an early start)

ruby - I hope you are feeling better?

topsy - I agree amber - lots of qus for your team about lots of possible options

to everyone else

Struggling a bit this cycle with post-steroid bleurgh, but hopefully this is the worst day, it was last time. I've got a much bigger steroid dose to take for the T bit (starting day before as I've got them already) - any top tips for coping better, I hate feeling like this... (and I think I've noticed it more this time as I'm not thinking about nausea all the time, you can't win 'em all! Grin )

malteserzz · 14/08/2013 19:54

Hi Betsy thanks for wishing me well for tomorrow Smile yes early start though we're not going to leave quite so early we seem to end up arriving at every appointment with loads of time to spare !
By bleurgh do you mean emotionally ? All they suggested to me was to take a lower dose but I guess that's not an option for you with the sickness

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/08/2013 20:15

good luck tomorrow malt
AP film was v funny and worth seeing !
topsy am sure they have loads up their sleeves - well worth quizzing them.
Paperchase stuff a bit too girly for T but I bought cards and some lovely bright envelopes. I always want to buy those cute Japanese-y bento boxes and little melamine bowls - went to Ryman to buy plainer files and whatnot...not as exciting.
T's hoping to do English, history and Geog and government & politics A levels but all depends on results.Loads of good thoughts to little pigeon - hope meditation is calming Smile

jchocchip · 14/08/2013 20:47

glad to hear gigs op went well. Good luck malt for a smooth day tomorrow. All the best for A level results tomorrow Its a stressful day I remember. On hols and on phone which is not holding charge. Normal service resumed soon....

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 14/08/2013 20:55

betsy thank you. I'm still feeling a bit funny, but better, think I've probably got a virus or something. Sorry you're not feeling great either :( no tips from me I'm afraid, I found I just had to grin and bear it.

shooting good luck to little pigeon for tomorrow! And I hope the meditation went well.

MAS yay for new stationery! And good luck to T for tomorrow as well, I hope he gets to do the A levels he wants to.

malt good luck for tomorrow, hope you manage to get there a bit later this time :) I always end up early too, which is pointless as appointments usually running late!

Thinking of gigs, hope the one op was sufficient and that you are still nicely drugged up! :)

I've had a rather relaxed day but got exercise class tomorrow Grin am quite looking forward to it. I'm sleeping really rubbishly at the moment Angry but hoping that's a symptom of whatever's wrong with me rather than a permanent thing!

Love to all x

Good luck, Malt!!

LadyBeagleEyes · 14/08/2013 20:58

Hi everyone,
First of all I'd just like to say that you are a very close group and I know very little of your histories but that will very likely change as I'm joining and starting to post.
My lovely Gp popped in today to let me know the results of my bronchostopy sp.
I have metatastic breast cancer, with nodules in my lungs and lesions in my liver.
But apparently the good news is with my BC I was hormonely receptive so a mastectomy and 6 months of tamoxifen then which I have happily survived for 10 years, there's now all sorts of treatments, and over the last 10 years have improved massively.
So treatable but not curable.
DS is of to uni in September and I intend to be at his graduation.
Anyway, I'm of to Galway tomorrow for my neice's wedding where I'll see my lovely family who I don't see enough off as I'm in Scotland and they're in the South East with a massive Irish family.
So something to look forward to before the shit start.
Oh, and thanks for listening to this almost incoherent post.
xxx

topsyturner · 14/08/2013 21:51

Hi LadyB
There are a few of us in the incurable but treatable camp , so you'll be in good company there .
I have lung secondaries , so if you have any qs feel free to ask .

I'll wave to you in Galway as I'm going to be in Connemara on Saturday !
Enjoy the wedding .

topsyturner · 14/08/2013 21:54

Malt good luck for tomorrow's chemo . You will ace it again x

I'm waiting for Gigs to be back posting . Need to see if she's getting any decent food in hospital that we can pinch for the trolley Grin

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 14/08/2013 22:00

Hello Lady, sorry about your news. But good that there's lots of treatment options available. Fab that DS is off to uni this year - is he waiting for results? If so, good luck to him. I'm going into my final year of uni this year.

Have a lovely time at the wedding :)

malteserzz · 14/08/2013 22:10

Ruby I sympathise on the rubbish sleeping as I'm the same. Hope you feel better soon
Topsy thanks, are you ready for your holiday ? Be good to have a break
Lady sorry to hear your news but agree there is lots they can do. When do you go back to discuss treatments ? Wedding sounds lovely, hope you can put it as far back in your mind as you can and have a lovely time x
