Ds at hospital this morning, frustrating so won't dwell on it. Called in on my lovely friend who took me to my breast clinic apps and generally took care of me. Lovely to see her, difficult times sometimes help you find a one in a million. Of course also brings to light who is not worth being in your life, but the sun is shining so lets dwell on the positives only...... Sparkle's thought for the day. Grin

HerNextDoorAt21 · 02/08/2013 15:55

Hmmmm I see topsy has not appeared this day ?

I have tried to cacth up after my holiday but you huys are so chatty it would take me an age.

I went to see my surgeon thsi morning and was pleased to report to her that the exudate from both edges of the LD flap had reduced even though a new hole had developed :(

She is getting me in ojn Tuesday for a minor op to 'fix' the new hole by excising the scarred holey skin and sewing the fit heatlthy skin together ! Not the thing I was expecting when I woke up this morning but hey ! If it stops me needing to wear dressings after 7 months then all well and good.

I will start to join in more again now I am back from hols (and back at work tee heee !!)

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2013 16:33

sounds a good idea hnd - the dressings must be mega pesky.
Back from onc and yay-I can go swimming (when it's not too crowded !) and I can have a week off meds when dh is off for a week- result Grin
Am ridiculously excited by the swimming idea as they have wrist band things for monitoring your progress and I like a bit of a challenge. I have ordered my swimsuit, goggles and swimming bag Smile

malteserzz · 02/08/2013 16:45

Sparkle I like your thought of the day can we have one every day Smile
Hnd all sounds promising fingers crossed it goes well
Mas fab news about the swimming you'll be the best dressed swimmer there!
Still worn out here and have just been chilling in between supervising hoards of 10 year olds but looking forward to Chinese takeaway later Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2013 17:20
Grin well done for all that child minding - you deserve your Chinese !
malteserzz · 02/08/2013 17:36

Thanks Smile
A lot of them seem to be on their own this holidays or with slightly older brothers and sisters, I know it's hard if you have to work but still they're only 10

Lilymaid · 02/08/2013 19:02

I've also seen the Onc today who seems fairly positive. But because of the bone cancer he's decided to keep me on doxetaxcel (?) which is the T of FEC-T and keep the FEC in reserve. Also now going to have 8 chemos
instead of 6 but with smaller dosage ( so I should be less tired). This will take me up to December instead of end of October but if it will do the work I can't moan.
I expect that most people find that their treatment plans change as time goes on?
Now sat in v nice b & b in Suffolk looking forward to a good meal and a good weekend so hope you all have a great weekend.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2013 20:41

where in Suffolk lily ?

Gigondas · 02/08/2013 20:42

Enjoy lilySmile. Malt sounds like you earned your take away.

Sparkle-sorry that so hard for ds at appt.

Mas Grinabout swimming.

Packing done... Now testing my wedding vows as mr gig is waxing my legs. He has a sadistic focused look as he tackles the great forest.

malteserzz · 02/08/2013 20:50

Ouch gigs !
Lily hope you have a lovely weekend away Smile

Gigondas · 02/08/2013 20:53

He is doing quite a good job- mr gig has surprising talents Wink

malteserzz · 02/08/2013 20:59

Ooo eerr missus !
Mr malt has just had his vasectomy date through think hes a bit nervous Grin

Gigondas · 02/08/2013 21:22

Best keep him away from mr gig ego seems to have a large number of gory stories about those ops .

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 02/08/2013 21:44

True love that is gigs!

MAS fabulous news about swimming and the wristbands sound fun!

malt hope you're enjoying Chinese

lily bit of a bummer you'll be on it for longer but hopefully feeling less crap than you would for the six cycles, and as you say if it does the job then worth it :) enjoy your time in Suffolk

HND good news they're finally fixing it after such a long time, but a shame it has to be another op.

Had quite a busy day as saw a GP and my bowel nurse. Now got lots more things to try. I'm hoping this is the last I will have to say on the matter and that I will now be able to reclaim a bit of dignity! :)

Tried to log in last night but laptop playing silly beggers.

Hope all your new cream help ruby It must be so uncomfortable.

kitkat my blood sugars were raised throughout chemo. They told me it was due to Dexamethasone. It settled after chemo stopped. I checked my notes (I keep them at home) and my blood sugar was always around 7 or 8.

lily I had 8 chemos although mine was FEC. I think either kurri or amber had even more than that. It does feel never ending but it is amazing how quickly time passes.

Good to hear you enjoyed your chinese malt.

gigs enjoy Tesco.

Hopefully will catch up over the weekend.

kurri hows the bite?

trice · 02/08/2013 22:08

I bought some lovely new socks today, extra squishy. The soles of my feet have gone bright red and started peeling which is apparantly a side effect of capecitabene. You keep your hair but have manky feet.

My hands are ok so far though which is lucky as I am crocheting a new basket for my holiday out of raffia. It is very stiff and scratchy so I can only do a few rows at a time. It looks good so far though.

Good to hear you sounding better Malt. Enjoy your take away.

Fingers crossed for new treatments Lily and Ruby and hnd.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 02/08/2013 22:09

Ooh yes I had eight chemos too lily, gracie is right the time flies by, obviously because chemo is so much fun Grin but seriously I cannot believe it is now August. I started chemo on 30th January so finished a few weeks ago :)

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 02/08/2013 22:18

trice :( about feet. Hopefully the new socks will be super comfy and soothing. My feet were similar and I used Body Shop peppermint foot lotion to soothe them when they were really sore, I keep it in the fridge so it's really cooling. Also moisturiser and then socks overnight helped a bit.

The basket sounds amazing though, will you show us a picture when it's done? :)

OP posts:
amberlight · 02/08/2013 22:36

Eight chemos for me - 4 x FEC and 4 x Docetaxel.
Brain a bit short-circuity so just waving and reading Smile

malteserzz · 02/08/2013 22:45

The basket does sound amazing you're all so talented when I have time on my hands I just watch trashy tv and read !

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2013 23:57

Am impressed by raffia bag - sounds fab.
Mr gig is very talented- not sure I'd trust Mr MAS to wax anything.
Where are you staying in Tesco York gig ? Will you go to Whitby ?
Have sorted our clothes so think we can make a reasonably early start tomorrow. Might see gig family on M1 Grin
We're detouring to Derbyshire to visit my friend with bc - we usually go and have a cup of tea there.
Sleep well all

jchocchip · 03/08/2013 07:37

Nightmare journey yesterday train cancelled and only just got on next one. Stood until derby in the furnace outside the loo then got a seat in the ice box that was the carriage! Thought I had got off at wrong station, the refurb of birmingham new st being very thorough and disorienting.
Db and family stopping off today apparently so will make a cake.

Hope m1 is quiet today. I better get up and make mum a cup of coffee.

malteserzz · 03/08/2013 08:30

Morning all
Jchoc I hate train journeys like that ? Have they finished new street yet ? Last time I went it was all being done
Hope everyone who's away this weekend has a great time Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/08/2013 08:51

no broadband or anything at MILs and find mumsnet tricky on my phone, so will be out of touch for a bit- have a lovely weekend all and safe journeys Smile

notJenkins · 03/08/2013 09:03

Good morning from me. I am having a pyjama day today after a bit if a late night with much vodka last night.

Apologies but I am very behind with the thread. Had a busy week at work and it is getting in the way of my mn time.

Got my scan date through for end of sept. it is a bit weird as my meds need to be changed then stopped so I know I will feel terrible for about 4 weeks. It coincides with my going back to work after leave so I will be off for about 8 weeks altogether.

What are you all up to this weekend ? We have no dc later as they are going to granny for a sleepover so I can continue my pyjama day in peace.
