Dh took dd into ooh. She hasn't eaten for three days and has a high temp. Complaining of a very tender tummy. Dr diagnosed tonsillitis, which was a surprise as she hasn't mentioned her throat or ears hurting. Anyway she now has antibiotics. Hopefully she will feel better soon.

I went shopping in a tent in a field. There was a load of cheaply made imported tat for sale. It was heaving. Twigs and pebbly shit abounded. I bought a shell for dd and some hair ribbons to cheer her up. It was fun wrestling the wheelchair around cowpats.

I didn't get any christmas presents as shopping is better in town tbh. There were some nice placemats but they were £46 for four! Shocking.

trice · 13/06/2013 15:31

Hope you are out and recovering smee.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/06/2013 16:04

Grin @ twigs and pebbly shit !!
I'm thinking of having a picture printed on to things for Christmas this year- am experimenting with one of my illustrations which is being printed onto a hoodie- will report back !
Clever ruby making a badger for mini gig - is there a photo to see ?
Have just had hair cut and a few low lights to cheer my hair up...
No Neutrogena stuff in Waitrose ruby - and I forgot to look in Boots...

malteserzz · 13/06/2013 16:51

Hi all
Trice hope dd gets better soon. Shopping thing sounds a bit expensive!!
Ruby hope you're feeling a bit better now ?
MAS hair cut always good for a pick me up
Hope smee is getting on ok

Copthallresident · 13/06/2013 17:14

mas a friend did an illustration for a t shirt that a group of friends and I who exercised together had made. It turned out really well and I still wear it but sparingly. I'll try and do a pic for you but I think it's a real market niche.

trice Ha Ha at designer twigs and pebbles amongst the cowpats Grin

Hope your op is all over and done with and you're snuggled in a cosy bed, Smee.

Jury still out then on the term secondary. Mil not feeling too good today understandably so she's been in bed mostly I keep taking her drinks even when she doesn't feel like eating. Not sure what else I can do.
Thanks again.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 13/06/2013 17:39

smee hope you're recovering now :)

malt thanks, think I'm feeling better, bottom sore but tummy calmed down, I've slept most of the day :) now lying in bed whimpering pitifully! Grin how are you?

MAS my dad took photos so will get them off him and put up :) worth searching for the Neutrogena as it's amazing, it's this one a couple of quid cheaper in Sainsbury's though if you have one? Hoodie sounds fun.

trice sorry to hear shopping event was pretty useless, hopefully you had fun with friend though :) and glad DD is getting treatment, tonsillitis is no fun at all, poor thing :(

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 13/06/2013 17:41

l4k :( poor mil. The cancery words make it all so horrible. Flowers and hugs for you all, sounds like you're doing all you can. Just be there for her really and don't try and put a positive spin on everything, acknowledge it's shit. My family really struggle with the idea of being sad about anything so I've found that very hard to deal with, some days you just need to wallow in a bit of self pity! :) but they're desperately looking for a silver lining when sometimes it is very hard to see beneath all the shittiness.

malteserzz · 13/06/2013 17:57

Ruby I'm glad you're feeling a little better bless you
I'm fine thanks, had a nice day been out for lunch with best friend and her dd Smile

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 13/06/2013 18:10

malteserzz · 13/06/2013 18:23

We went to a pub nearby which has just reopened after being empty for years, didnt have anything exciting just a turkey and cranberry baguette and we shared chips but it was very nice :)
Sun is out now after heavy rain earlier wish the weather would make its mind up

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/06/2013 20:10

ruby -will investigate the Sainsb. and Superdrug asap !
Have be laughing at the tamoxifen t shirt ideas on the fb page- arf ! We could all wear them for our meeting ! Grin I could have a lot of fun doing that !

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 13/06/2013 20:26

Ooh MAS yes sounds like a plan, with our colour coded cancer boas Grin

malt sounds lovely! :)

malteserzz · 13/06/2013 20:29

Just after a bit of reassurance, just got changed and noticed the area around my wound under my arm is a bit swollen and presume this is a seroma. It doesn't hurt or anything. I know they talked to me about getting them drained but is it ok just to leave it if it's not bothering me?

Loving the t shirt ideas too!

Copthallresident · 13/06/2013 20:37

malt the seroma is liquid (sorry this is not going to be a very scientific explanation) that gathers between the skin and underlying tissue where the surgery has removed tissue. I think to some extent it can drain away but I would get it looked at by the bcn . It didn't bother me either but they insisted on draining it three or four times. Apart from anything it can be a sign you are doing too much, or at least it was for me.

Don't forget our handbags, I'm sending the slides of my tumour off to Victoria now to put on her mood board Grin

malteserzz · 13/06/2013 20:46

Thanks copt I'll give them a ring in the morning
Don't think I've been doing too much but difficult to know how much you should be doing

EarthMotherImNot · 14/06/2013 01:46

I had Seroma after my op Malt, apparently, its just one of them things sent to try youAngry

I had a friend on standby for a couple of weeks. She would drive me to the breast unit and my B.C.N would drain the fluid away. You have to be careful of infection so it's best not left. At its heyday B.C.N was draining 3 bloody kidney bowls at a timeAngry

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 14/06/2013 06:34

Good morning,

I can't sleep, woke up at 4 and I'm completely wired! Damn steroids :)

EMIN doesn't sound fun at all! :(

malt I hope it is easily dealt with, best to get in touch ASAP so they can get it sorted before it becomes problematic :)

jchocchip · 14/06/2013 06:37

Morning all! Hope you got some sleep earth.

Brew for all who want one. Yay its Friday!

Anyone heard how smee is?
Off to work soon but will try to finish early as mil here.

jchocchip · 14/06/2013 06:40

Xpost ruby Strange how when you can't sleep you often see 4am.
Hope it is a nice day looks like there is some sun here.

Gigondas · 14/06/2013 06:58

Brew?

I had seroma with my ops - do get it drained as its horrible if gets infected and needs to be taken away. It is very common but I would take it a bit easier while you have it. Ring Bcn/unit to get it drained today- dont leave it over the weekend.

Grin at FB tee shirts and Ruby's steroid rage. She is truly a Vietnam vet. Is there any way you can take steroids earlier in day (my doseage was given that way) to try to avoid the wide awake effect.

Feeling very stiff today not just co of leg being messed around with but I have found am not sitting properly to avoid touching site of wound so got back ache.

malteserzz · 14/06/2013 07:36

Morning all
I'll ring at 9 when they open
Thanks for the advice Smile
Gigs sorry you're uncomfortable
Ruby hope you got some sleep
Nutella on toast for the trolley, well the adverts do say how nutritious it is so it must be true !

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/06/2013 08:11

hope all ok with seroma malt -I could never tell what was post op swelling or fluid-but it was ok in the end.
MM, nutella - haven't had any for ages- I do have a set of very fine Nutella glasses in my cupboard though.
Uncomfortable lower back yesterday and last night-not sure what that's about - am a bit unwilling to mention anything as I feel I will be told it's just me imagining things.

Gigondas · 14/06/2013 08:14

Were you huddled or sitting working for long spells mas as could be same reason my back hurts?
