Porcelain crowns have a metal underneath .....

KurriKurri · 12/06/2013 17:43

yes Gigs - flat is in a sheltered complex - with a warden, communal garden, lovely sea views, and they put on entertainments - film nights, outings etc for the residents, - would be ideal for my mum as she is a sociable old girl, but needs a bit of help with mobility, so ground floor (which the flat is) and warden who takes them to supermarket, checks they are OK, etc. is just the thing for her.

Will be very Sad and Angry if these gits purchasers bugger her about, - because she has having a bit of a dip since Dad died, and the thought of the new flat had really perked her up and given her something to look forward to Sad

malteserzz · 12/06/2013 17:45

Can I ask a silly question?
Are all breast lumps on the top of the boob ? Myself and 2 friends all have identical scars, on the top of the right boob. Do people get lumps on the side and underneath I'm thinking they must do just seems weird that ours are all in the same place!

KurriKurri · 12/06/2013 17:45

But topsy to get to the metal you would have to cut a large chunk out of my gums Grin

malteserzz · 12/06/2013 17:47

Flat sounds lovely Kurri I hope it all works out for her

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/06/2013 18:01

I have a ton of metalwork in my gob so hope you aren't planning to scavenge my poor teeth.
A friend of mine sings in a choir and absolutely loves it - they have done quite serious, adventurous stuff (Stabat Mater one Easter) and T was in choir which went to NY on tour - though not sure whether he might join a choir at college next year -would be great if he did. I think that playing music/singing together must be tremendous fun- my dad absolutely loves being in his band.
Lumps can be anywhere- think amber's was at the back of her breast- mine was beside the nipple so scar runs neatly in a semi circle beside it
Loads of love for tomorrow smee xxx
Am going to iron then have a rest instead of working

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/06/2013 18:02

oh and grr Angry about those horrors trying to get more out of your dear mum kk - can't believe how awful some people are.

Gigondas · 12/06/2013 19:50

Topsy does Bacardi gold have anaesthetic properties ? (Goes off to hire Sweeney Todd outfits for topsy and me).

That sounds great kurri as type of thing mil in and it's certainly helped her. Only advantage to your mum is conditions/terms to buy in those places are quite strict so may not be as bad as you think on losing out. People can be gits when you are selling tho.

Can't help on scar malt as mine runs down my arise/back of leg.

Copthallresident · 12/06/2013 20:07

I think it is high time that some women blazed a trail in the business of 19thc body part theft, H &M*** , the feminist Burke &Hare, with added gin......

OP posts:
Copthallresident · 12/06/2013 20:10

malt mine was below boob to the left near skin. I have heard of them being in all sorts of places even in breast tissue under arm that you might not realise was breast tissue

OP posts:
malteserzz · 12/06/2013 20:36

Must be coincidence that my 2 friends and I have it in the same place then
Hope everyone's having a good evening, can't believe it's apprentice night again that's gone quick !
Am guessing I'm the only one excited about big brother starting tomorrow lol
In other exciting news as I've had to have my lovely coil removed I'm having my 1st period in 7 years which is taking a bit of getting used to !

Copthallresident · 12/06/2013 20:40

malt anywhere there is breast tissue, which is why men get it too. I have never encountered a man but it must be absolutely awful for your sense of identify to find yourself in that sea of pink.

I have fingers crossed Luisa gets her comeuppance but I don't think she'll go yet, she makes good TV.

Malt - mine was bottom right.

I do hope I recover enough to join a regular singing group. I love listening to the community groups at folk festivals. Has to go in the long term plans pile at the moment though.

amberlight · 12/06/2013 21:03

More Wine out for all feeling depressed/anxious etc. Smee, hope all goes ok x
S*dding week of hell. So tired. Sorting it out.
Yes, my lump was at the back of my left boob.

l4k · 12/06/2013 22:34

hello again,
As expected, mil's biopsy was bad news. my husband took her so I'm a bit confused about a few things.
She is having node clearance on 4th july but has to have a CT scan first to see if it's spread further.
So this is a lymph node in her breast but near to arm pit which has come back grade 3.
what I don't understand is that she asked the consultant if this means its secondary and he said yes.I thought this is a regional recurance (sorry sp) So now she is assuming it's not curable but I'm not sure if he miss-understood her.
He told my husband if it is shown to have spread on CT then he will re-assess the surgery.
Any ideas? obviously she is shocked and upset. If its not really secondary then I could ring her bc nurse and ask her to explain it again.

Smee - good luck for tomorrow.will be thinking of you.

jchocchip · 12/06/2013 22:35

All the best to smee for tomorrow. Can't keep up with all these long posts. Hard day at work today, hope tomorrow is better. Nighty night.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/06/2013 22:36

Hello,

Had chemo today. Dr W was very pleased with last cycle success and even said well done! Grin

I can't remember who mentioned it, I thi k trice but I was told very sternly not to take my capecitabine with anything but water as it can react with fruit juice. I don't want to panic you but might be worth checking with the onc or pharmacist.

Also MAS today I think I found the ultimate hand/foot cream, the capecitabine is drying them out very badly. It's Neutrogena Norwegian formula Deep moisture comfort balm. It has worked absolute miracles with my crusty hands, in one evening they've gone from being sand papery and cracking to almost normal! It absorbs very quickly and not greasy. I've put a thick layer on my feet with socks overnight so will report back in the morning. Are you feet getting very dry too or just hands?

Anyway I can't catch up with all the posts now but love to all, especially those who have or have had appointments of various kinds and smee for her op tomorrow and anyone feeling down, big hugs :) oh and a chocolate eclair for the trolley so you can fight over it! Grin

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 12/06/2013 22:37

Sorry l4k I'm bowel not breast cancer so can't help but horrible for you all, I hope someone will be along to shed some light shortly :)

Copthallresident · 12/06/2013 22:47

14k All I can say is that when it was my friend's lymph node in her neck just above the collar bone it was regarded as a local recurrence. It may be about the niceties of terminology, maybe you could say they are secondary's once in the lymph nodes, but but I am pretty certain that it is only when you get secondary's /mets in other organs or parts of the body that they start to regard it as a chronic disease rather than one that you have a chance won't recur (it is never regarded as curable, there is always a chance of recurrence, no guarantees even for the most innocuous lump or having made it 12 years on). I would certainly get her to talk to her bcn to clarify her understanding.

Double firing!! Next week looks a treat Grin

Off for Mad Men.........

OP posts:
Copthallresident · 12/06/2013 22:52

Ruby Glad it is going well but definitely a sign of a Dr W if he can hold you personally culpable / to be praised for how your body copes with chemo! Same with the woncy oncy, shook his head and said he was disappointed with me when my white blood cell count was low, as if I was a naughty schoolgirl who did it deliberately rather than a 43 year old woman struggling with my body's reaction to the poison (sorry but still cross about that, mainly because he is still at it apparently)

OP posts:
malteserzz · 12/06/2013 22:57

I can't help 14k either as it's all new to me but best wishes to your mil
Ruby glad everything went well and I'll have the eclair if no one else has claimed it!
Copt yes double firing enjoyed it still think their skirts are too short !
Jchoc and amber hope you get a good nights sleep after your busy days.
Love to all night night and sleepy vibes xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/06/2013 23:24

Mm, am not sure whether it'd be a local recurrence or what 14k- I think secondaries are distant recurrences,ie in bones, liver, lungs or brain, also lymph behind the sternum, but don't quote me on that.
Thanks for capecitabine taking advice- will ask Onc ruby and the cream sounds great- my feet are very dry - not as bad as previously when they just peeled alarmingly.
Must sleep... Hope everyone else does too.

sparklesunshine · 13/06/2013 05:31

Speedy posts are back again!

Good luck with your results Malt. Was that tomorrow (me) / today (you) or next week?

Waves to everyone else, wishing you health and happiness and all the other good things.

Oncologist was positive. They come in with a whole team here - Dr, Pharmacist, and student who is introduced but I'm not asked permission for them to be there (which surprised me). They reassured me that long term neuropathy, including those that get better in 6 months, only happens 5% of the time. Apparantly 100mg B vitamins, multivitamin including magnesium and potentially L-glutamine (??) might help avoid it. He doesn't believe in the cold mitts and they're not provided, but the nurses should be able to get ice bowls to put my hands in. Seems a bit odd, but I think I'll try it just in case. Any tips on avoiding frostbite in the process?

I'm on the steroids to avoid allergic reaction now. They make me seriously wired! I can't imagine taking enough to make be pumped like Arnie. I'd be a nightmare to be around.

I'm seriously sensitive to meds. I also got sick on the Tramadol post port surgery, but my leftover anti-nauseas sorted that out. It's also a lot less sore now that they're taken out the stitches. I think they were holding it in an awkward place as it's move a bit and is much more comfortable. Even the needle to take bloods wasn't too bad. I'm going to try chemo without the numbing disk as I've not had time to sort it out..

Cherries here, placed gently on the trolly for any late night visitors. They're tasty and it's hard to be sad while you're eating them.

Sorry for the massive post

jchocchip · 13/06/2013 06:07

Hi sparkle I think you shouldn't put your hands directly into ice, how about gloves/ rubber gloves?
Alarm gone off here will put Brew on...
