Morning all. I managed a full nights sleep last night. First time in months. Hurrah! But I start my second cycle of capecitabene today. Boo.!

I am hiding from cancer news. It sends me into a spin.

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 08:24

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

sparklesunshine · 10/06/2013 08:40

Hi all (not sleeping 2;30am my time)

MAS your group sounds lovely and I'm glad you reconnected with a friend.

Kurri your computer is hilarious and I'm sorry to hear the shingles are sticking around. Persistent little buggers!

We did camping on the weekend with a big group out for a visit from my friend. It was great to take a break from thinking constantly about the cancer plus it gave my mom a chance to miss us. Smile It was also fun to have so many adults around happy to be watching my kids out of the corner of their eye. The girls got into all sorts of outside games like feed the (very low) fire with pine cones or draw pictures in the dirt. It was great.

I've got oncologist on tues and chemo #5 on thurs.

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 08:41

Morning All

I spent most of my weekend outside .
It has been glorious here .
Not so much sun bathing for me (as onc still advises against it) but even sitting in the shade was lovely !

Jane your weekend sounds lovely (although very busy !)

Gigs busy week for you then ?
Do you need another GA for your dressing change today ?

Mas glad the meditation/mindfulness group went well , it's hard when it's new people isn't it ?

DH off to work .
DC off to school (although I can't believe they finish for the summer in 2 1/2 weeks ! We finish a lot earlier over here)
Just me and pig/dog left in the house . And he's upside on his bed in the kitchen !

Who's on breakfast duty ?
I'm hungry today Grin

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 08:46

X post Malt and Sparkle

Malt I often find that my apt letter doesn't come till 1 or 2 days before the apt !

Sparkle the camping weekend sounds great , glad you and the dc had fun .

KK have image of you sitting infront of your laptop , that's held together by duct tape and powered by madly peddling hamsters , swearing very loudly Grin

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 08:50

No just local now as pad not so big . Was lovely here on Saturday but not so much yesterday. Dh took kids to see ils on South coast and kids were in bil pool. My lovely sil spoiled them rotten so big gig didn't come home.

malteserzz · 10/06/2013 09:10

Gigs your girls looked like they were having a brilliant time in that pool :)
Sparkle glad you enjoyed the camping
Topsy why no sun ? My mum asked me last week if I'd been advised to stay out of it, I haven't they just said to not burn my arm. I've had cornflakes but could eat again what are you making Grin

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 09:38

Chemo makes your skin very sensitive to the sun Malt .
And although its been 8 months or so since my last chemo , they have still told me to be careful .
Which is a pain in the arse as I have psoriasis , and sunlight is one of the few things that helps me !

smee · 10/06/2013 09:51

Waving hellooo to ILGC. How lovely to see you, though v.sorry to hear about your friend. How are the DC? Hope all living life to the full these days? You too

Malt, sun's more about after Rads as you're higher risk for skin cancer. Unless Topsy tells me I'm wrong. I slap factor 50 on.

Gig, good luck with appt later. Hope it doesn't take up too much of the day and OU gets fitted in somewhere. How's the pain going?? Any improvement?

Camping both Sparkle and Jane, you've almost made me want to dig the tent out..

Trice, how were side effects on cycle 1 in the end? Will it to be slightly easier this time just because you know what to expect, or is it the other way, so it's daunting because it's so horrid? Really hope it's the former. x

Your group sounds good, MAS, am glad you managed to tell them about your dx. When does DS finish his exams? Must be soon??

Waving to Amber, Kurri and all who I've missed. A bit miffed by all this talk of sun, as it was quite chilly here yesterday and is similar today. Better do some work, but I have a Brew on for any who want to distract me. Grin

smee · 10/06/2013 09:51

x-posted with Topsy - is it chemo then? I was told rads. Confused

malteserzz · 10/06/2013 10:10

So it's chemo or rads when you have to avoid the sun, maybe it's both Smile

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 11:32

Lol , bit of both I think !
Although I'm now sitting in the garden with Sentry Sauron by my side Grin

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 11:48

Is he guarding your bush again topsy?

Got sign off that all ok with neck surgeon- got nice look at Lego in my neck on x ray too.

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 12:25

Yep , he's scouting my shrubbery Grin

That's the first apt out of the way Gigs , hopefully the dressing one is just as straight forward .
Is RoboGig looking good on film ?

In from the garden for lunch .
Am making egg mayo and salad wraps if anyone is interested ???

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 13:01

Yes please. Yes could see clearly the 4 pins and cage of Lego which was interesting. Said Physio should help with weak left arm although never be quite the same ( I guessed that much).

Mini gig attacking me with a feather duster-cleaning gene isn't from me.

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 13:11

Some lunch time reading for you topsy phil Collins the love story

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 14:11

Great .
Now my neighbours have proof think I'm a total loon !
I'm tanning my back in the garden and laughing like a loon at "as a bead of sweat glistened on Phil Collins balding head"
As if my singing along to The Eurythmics earlier wasn't bad enough ..... Grin

KurriKurri · 10/06/2013 14:28

Hi all - glad my computer is providing amusement Grin - the image you have topsy is pretty close to the reality. It is propped up on my desk with stack of books behind it, but has to be right up one end of the desk, where the cupboard bit is (as opposed to where the leg hole is in the desk) so to use it I have to sit with my legs at quarter to three in the lotus position.

Camping sounds good fun sparkle, and the night in Dorset also fab jchoc (but you are right you need longer!). My best friend is buying a camper van, and we are planning to head off all over the place in it - should be fun - two mad old women in a camper van - what could possibly go wrong??

Gigs glad the neck is behaving, and that you got a good look at the lego (I bet that felt a bit odd, but interesting too)hope the wound dressing goes OK.

We have no sun here, it is quite cold in fact, but when it is sunny I go for factor 50 and a large eccentric sun hat.

Hooray for good night sleep trice, hope you managed some sleep too malt.
Cancer stories are to be avoided IMO, - I switch over if they come on the telly.

Waving to Smee, MAS, Ruby, amber and everyone I have missed.

Off to do more gardening now before it stats raining.

Oh, meant to say - we had a young crow that couldn't fly hopping round the garden at the weekend, - it kept falling in the pond and I kept fishing it out with a net.
It's parents were no where to be seen (we waited over night) so in the morning DH decided it would be safer in the wood over the road where there is a large rookery.
Hilarious sight of the year has to be DH walking along the road to the woods carrying a large, extremely cross crow in his arms.
He didn't think to put it in a box GrinHmm I wish I had taken a photo to send to everyone I know and put on the internet for universal amusement and mockery

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/06/2013 14:29

Arf @ Sauron on shrubbery duty... waves to sparkle !
Hope capecitabine goes ok this round trice - I am feeling a bit nauseous again with it but I do find the whole taking of it difficult- must be psychological -I could easily throw up after swallowing them. I now take the evening lot with a glass of squash (it has to be Sainsbury's raspberry, apple and pomegranate )
Had nice coffee and croissant at Costa with a friend, quick run around town to buy bread and envelopes and go to post office.
smee I did manage to say about dx -I said I felt awkward about saying it - nice lady from Mindfulness course gave me a hug afterwards. I hope they won't be thinking I'm about to peg out at any minute.
T had history exam today, then maths lesson - is home for lunch but has singing lesson at 3-- have offered to drop him off at school.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/06/2013 14:30

Grin @ cross crow kk !

COLD here today after a glorious Saturday...
Would be v interested to see your lego xray gig - fascinating !

malteserzz · 10/06/2013 15:34

Glad to hear that everyone seems in good spirits, I'm laughing at the crow Kurri !
I've had a good day shopping with friend and her dd. Got a new top from dotty ps and lots of nice food :)
Now anxiously waiting for ds to come home, we've been walking him over the road to school for a long time and he's been walking the rest of the way by himself but he's asked to do both ways by himself now. It isn't far at all, just 1 road to cross but you know what it's like when they start getting a bit independent!

malteserzz · 10/06/2013 16:09

He made it home in one piece Grin
Feel a bit redundant though, no more school runs for me

Gigondas · 10/06/2013 19:38

Love the crow story kurri. And am not Smile at laptop image.

Mas- glad you liked group and good you cleared up about dx.

Malt- no school run is Wine surely? Your dc will always need you even if it is just for 3 bags of stinking laundry from uni.

topsyturner · 10/06/2013 21:12

Love the crow story kk , can se DH manfully running down the road being pecked by an angry crow Grin

Malt I'm only hanging on by a thread till I can give up the school runs ! DD has one more year . I'm sick of the head tilters . And the ones who know my name now , but never did before cancer !

Think I might have overdone it in the garden today .
Despite factor 50 sun cream and just doing 20 minutes at a time , I seem to have turned an interesting shade of lobster ...
at least Sir Tom will fancy me
