Am whistling the Great Escape now. I blame you, MrG. Grin

Ruby, I've never been offered a course like that, but it sounds great and you might as well give it a go. Can always pull out if it's too much.

Kurri's going back to the ants?! Shock

Copthallresident · 05/06/2013 17:36

Mr Gigs I'm sending over goondog famous for his escapology antics, if tunnelling and dismantling fences doesn't work can bring along his motorbike and gigs can ride pillion as he jumps for it. You may have seen him nonchalantly riding up Heath Road evading capture.....

Only small problem is he is easily distracted by foxes, pigeons, squirrels and helicopters but I am sure they don't have those in Stanmore.....

Glad gigs is out, hopefully onwards and upwards now. She has to be on parade for The pantomime Apprentice tonight and insider goss......

Ruby I went to all sorts of relaxation classes, yoga etc when I was being treated. I think anything that gets you focusing on yourself and getting healthy emotionally and physically is good. It's also good to be doing things that are going to help you build up, when the chemo and surgery feels like such an assault IYSWIM.

Waves to everyone. Little Copt has finished! Yeah! She is demanding cocktails Hmm

Yay for gigs being out and for little Copt being finished! Grin

Jolly good, I shall brave the course then :)

Kurri hope you haven't been attacked by ants again...

I'm off to cook dinner. Stuffed peppers with Brie yum yum yum :)

malteserzz · 05/06/2013 18:35

Ruby stuffed peppers sounds lovely I've just had a bit of chocolate and feeling a bit more human now
Copt great that little copt has finished cocktails sound a really good idea :)
Hope everyone has a good evening I'm looking forward to the apprentice and you're fired of course!

jchocchip · 05/06/2013 18:39

Hello mr gigs glad gigs is out, hope you get cake soon :)
Peppers! I meant to do some last week, but forgot. I'm going to do chicken mozzarella parcels for tea, if the kitchen is other than a bomb site when I get home...
Aargh for the ants. Mum always gets them in the house if any food is spilt, aargh. Not caught up at work yet, getting a bit panicky so decided to leave it for tomorrow. Oh and we have the bbc filming at work again. Setting up for bollywood carmen being broadcast live on sunday...no paddling today :(

sandripples · 05/06/2013 19:46

Hello- just wanted to congratulate Malt for getting through your op. (I am generally a bit weird at least a week after a GA by the way) I had node clearance - had painful arm afterwards but otherwise fine.

Gigs - sorry you've had a bit of bother by the sound of it and hope you're recovering.

I absolutely love The Balkan Trilogy. Have to confess I also like the TV version - I do tend to identify very strongly with it due to me and DH having worked in the British Council for many years and DH bearing quite a resemblance to Guy Pringle! I re-watched the whole series while I was having treatment.

Waving to all.
x

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2013 19:53

waves to SR ! Was it Emma Thompson & K Branagh in B Trilogy ?
Hooray for gig being out and little copt being all finished !
Stuffed pepers sound yum- pasta and pesto here and Apprentice !

Gigondas · 05/06/2013 20:15

Hello it's drugged up gig and am home (ignoring mr gig mewing for a cake - will make when better).

Op was ok but turned out underneath hole I could see was bigger bit size of my hand so no wonder in pain etc. now have fetching pump fitted.

Peppers sound lovely . Ants less so kurri.

I like both tv version and book sand ripples - Grin at guy Pringle dh.

GrinGrinGrin For little Copt exams being over.

malteserzz · 05/06/2013 20:27

Yay to being home gigs how long do you have to have the pump for ?
Thanks SR glad that part is over and thanks for saying that about the GA they didn't really tell me what to expect after and was wondering if I should feel more normal than I do !

Gigondas · 05/06/2013 20:31

I always wail after ga - mr gigs got the benefit of my sobbing earlier.

Don't know ruby -as long as it takes to heal so maybe week or two (given how big hole is, which am still ShockHmm about). Good news is surgeon said never known it not work tho.

KurriKurri · 05/06/2013 20:43

Ooh - I bought Balkan Trilogy at the weekend from a charity book stall (all books 20p I stocked up big time!) - I'm glad you are all saying it's good Smile

Gig - I have cried on waking up from GA on occasion -it's strange isn't it? - wonder what trigger that off? Goodness your wound sounds nasty - no wonder you were in pain, you poor thing Sad - pump is a bit of a pain, but hopefully will do the trick.

Hope you are feeling OK this evening malt. - I second what SR said - takes a good week to get GA out of your system, - take it gently, no marathons Grin

I am finished with ants for the day - I think they probably won the first round! There were loads of enormous ants eggs in the nest.

Waving to SR, lovely to see you, and jchoc - Bollywood Carmen sounds interesting.

we had last night's left over spicy cous cous and roast vegetables for tea, and stewed apple and yogurt for pud.

coorong · 05/06/2013 21:14

I go to work for the day and return to a stream of verbal ping pong - i blame mr gigs for lowering our now "sub-regal" group thank you baroness amber la-di-da
trice hope the G&T goggles worked, malt YOU SURVIVED! --- hate to say it - but we told you so!!! - you've done this, you can face ANYTHING now .. except of course, those woosey pommy ants kurri is complaining about .... honestly these are what i had to deal with growing up in Australia .... they're not called inch ants for no reason

sparklesunshine · 05/06/2013 21:24

Happy to see that Malt's out and ok and Gigs is out too!

Port fitting was fine but now hurting more than I expected. I've been taking my pain meds and sleeping much of the day. I probably needed it anyway Smile

The money's going to sit in the bank until I'm through this. It's enough for a good deposit, but I'll still need a mortgage and I don't think that's possible at the moment. Plus, my mom's been a ton of help with my girls which I think I'll need even more when I'm on doxetaxel. It's good to know it's there though.

BetsyBoop · 05/06/2013 21:26

malt I always feel a bit "odd" for a good few days after a GA, not ill exactly just "odd" and not my normal self - as my anaethetist friend describes it "a GA is taking you towards the point of death and then reviving you again" so there is no wonder it makes us feel a bit strange!

gigs glad you are home, hope you feel up to making that cake for mrgigs soon Grin

to everyone else, will catch up on thread with one eye whilst watching the Apprentice with the other

I am now implanon-less, the lady who did it was really lovely :) MRI and more biopsies tomorrow...

trice · 05/06/2013 21:39

I had lovely time at the party, got a bit sunburned and learned all the latest gossip.

Friend whose party it was is very fond of dogs, so she invited the dogs too. It was a bit surreal sitting drinking my g&t surrounded by a pack of about 12 dogs chasing each other around, stealing the party food, humping each other and sticking their noses in everyone's crotch. Friend spent the afternoon rushing around with poo bags. Also doggy people talk about dogs. A lot. I like dogs, I had one I was very fond of for 14 years, but three hours of dog talk - yawn.

Hurrah for successful ops Malt, Gigs and Sparkle.

Gigondas · 05/06/2013 22:07

Good you enjoyed it trice. Agree about dog talk -worse than baby talk?

Gigondas · 05/06/2013 22:11

Don't know about port but if similar to picc it was ouchy- after last of my many picc lines in my arm was so bruised It hurt for ages(this was tricky and knew at time she was rough so not typical).

Mr gig asleep now coorong but will doubtless lower tone with trouser talk appear soon. He often lurks ( this would horrify some on Mn).

Too tired to discuss apprentice but will tomorrow xxx

topsyturner · 05/06/2013 22:27

Just popping on to dispense hugs and say "yippee" to all who have has successful treatments today .

Don't know why , but I'm awfully tired today .
So I'm in bed , with my iPhone , listening to some bastard who is still strimming their garden at this time of night !!!

Goodnight All .
Hopefully Happy Topsy will be back on duty tomorrow x

jchocchip · 05/06/2013 22:28

That inch ant made me shiver, wouldn't want to find a load of those in the golden syrup!

jchocchip · 05/06/2013 22:30

Surely its dark! or are you in the land of the midnight sun? Hope he loses his strimmer string or runs out of petrol soon topsy!

malteserzz · 05/06/2013 22:38

Betsy when you describe it like that it's not surprising it makes you feel strange! Good luck tomorrow
Trice glad you had a good time but dog talk does sound a bit tedious !
Topsy hope strimming man has finished now and you can get some sleep
Night everyone x

amberlight · 06/06/2013 04:30

How's the port op feeling today, Sparkle?
Betsy,hope all goes ok today?
Gigs, any sleep?

malteserzz · 06/06/2013 04:30

What a nightmare this all is and so much waiting Hmm
Will try and get back to sleep
