xpost malt - 7am hopefully you will be early on the list.

trice · 03/06/2013 22:00

Well I hope you don't have a long wait Malt and it all goes smoothly. Just think - this time tomorrow you will be cancer free!

Sorry to hear you are in hospital Gig, stupid germs.

Emin, I haven't heard of that particular chemo drug, but it sounds like a taxol based thing. You can handle it I'm sure. Much easier with a nice onc.

I have recovered from the trapped wind. I tried peppermint tea and sticking my arse in the air over the back of the sofa. My dcs and I laughed so much I was pretty much instantly cured. They have enjoyed telling everyone who visits. There is no dignity is there?

topsyturner · 03/06/2013 22:02

I would say you should be on the morning list Malt if they want you in at 7am .
Don't forget to ask for a pre med .
And I just remembered something else I brought in with me , a photo of the kids !

Jane I don't know what you are talking about ?

Grin

Gigs are you settled in your room yet ?
Shame you didn't get a balcony this time .
I reckon it's just a plot on your behalf , so you didn't have have to have Birthday Rumpy Pumpy with Mr Gigs Grin

topsyturner · 03/06/2013 22:03

Trice dignity has long since fled this building ... Grin

coorong · 03/06/2013 22:03

Trice, thought I'd heard some strange rumblings ....... Grin

coorong · 03/06/2013 22:04

Arty farty .......

BetsyBoop · 03/06/2013 22:07

malt - one other top tip to add if you've not had a GA before, is if you are feeling crap afterwards tell them don't be an idiot like I was first time round and just try to grin and bear it GAs always give me a feeling like the worst hangover you've ever had x 1000 - thumping head and nausea/vomiting. There are always stronger painkillers/anti-emetics in the cupboard and they will work "up" through them if what you've had so far isn't working.

Hoping you won't feel crap afterwards of course. :)

I'm quite assertive now (having had 6 GAs) and tell the anaethetists what happens after and what drugs did/didn't work so they can write me up for them before hand just in case I need them after. (IME they seem to start with paracetamol which has never had much effect on me in terms of pain relief at the best of times...) This saves the nurses trying to track down a doctor to sign off the prescribing - which often takes a while, which is why you shouldn't wait until you get to the point of desparation before asking, as you then have to wait and wait for the Dr...and then wait for the drugs to take effect. (I learned that lesson the hard way...)

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Malt Fingers crossed you are at or near the top of the list.

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 22:13

Another hug for malt -will be thinking of you.

NedSchneebly · 03/06/2013 22:22

Blimey, this one'ls moved fast!

Interweb in French France rather unreliable or non-existent couldn'lt really keep up and post. Trying to catch up with everything!

malt I have everything crossed, somethings crossed twice, for you for tomorrow. This is the first step on the journey and we're right here with you. Its fine to be scared, angry, "why me?" about it all, we'lve all been there. Hang in there, lovely. Once the bastard lump is gone you'll feel so much better, I promise.

betsy arse that you have to join us, but stick around. Its not a bad place to pass the time. I am the world'ls greatest choir advocate - I completely love singing, and get such a buzz from it, I can't describe it. Stick with it through your treatment if you can. There is evidence that it helps your mood, breathing, general wellbeing etc.

gig what a/bugger. What news from hospital? Hope they have plugged you in to a bag of the good drugs to get you feeling better soon.

EMIN your last post sounds very chirpy! good to have a plan in place, yes? Sounds positive for you, my love.

MAS Your website looks great btw - good work! Your dads party looked fun too. How'ls things with you?

ruby how you feeling? Hope you have a peaceful night x

My bed is calling, but waving to all kurri, smee, copt, gracie, amber, topsy, jchoc and anyione else I have missed, lurkers or otherwise (castella Grin)

And the worry of not waking up

smee · 03/06/2013 23:37

Sleep's bound not to be about tonight, Malt but this time tomorrow you'll be slumped in a pillow, snoozing though drugs. You will be fine, honest. We all were, so just think of us. We'll think of you and the collective drift of our madness will will you through xx Smile

Arf at farty Trice. Long may it continue. Grin

Hurling German sweet things on the trolley for all. Too late to find the box, but they're yummy. Grin

Malt - Hope you managed to get some sleep after your early morning post. Thinking of you today

malteserzz · 04/06/2013 05:55

I did a bit thanks you're up early too hope you're ok ?

BetsyBoop · 04/06/2013 06:01

Waking up at 0530ish at least half the time is a normal (but annoying!) thing for me...

jchocchip · 04/06/2013 06:11

Morning all

Gigondas · 04/06/2013 06:16

Morning - hope you are done nice a d early as the not eating thing is horrid malt.

Started anti biotics last night and seemed up help as felt less feverish.

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/06/2013 07:53

oh you'll be there now malt - I found myself getting less nervous the nearer the actual time came - the anticipation before much worse than the actual day.
Am tentatively starting on my blog again as it's been linked to on my new website-I stopped last autumn when the new diagnosis came- feel a bit weird about starting again (for new folk it was about illustration and ocd with a smidge of bc thrown in)
Waves frantically to ned and to smee !!
gig hope things have settled a bit and you are comfy.
Have been finding getting to sleep difficult the last few days - dh cross with me because I'm not getting to bed earlier to get more sleep, but i'm always finding stuff to do and probably not unwinding properly.

malteserzz · 04/06/2013 08:36

I'm here! Been here since 7 no one has spoken to us yet but I've seen that I'm 2nd in the afternoon so ages to wait Hmm
My friend is in the bay opposite with another friend who's supporting her so were gossiping anyway! Was sobbing when I arrived but ok now
Bloody starving and thirsty though

topsyturner · 04/06/2013 08:46

Oh that's a long buggering wait Malt
Have you asked for a pre med ?
We shall close the Fat Boy Snack Trolley till you go to theatre as a sign of solidarity !

How was your night Gigs ?
Glad to hear the abs are starting to do their job .

Beautiful day here .
Washing on the line already .
DS is off school today , it's a study day .
A) he's still in bed .
B) he's already 1/2 way through his exams !

Hope the sun is shining for you all today x

Gigondas · 04/06/2013 08:56

Also ask if you can have some water as will let you have a bit if afternoon op.

Am doing ok tho bit hot here topsy.

topsyturner · 04/06/2013 09:02

Get Mr Gigs to bring you in a fan !
Nowt worse than being hot and sticky in hospital Gigs

BetsyBoop · 04/06/2013 09:03

Yes def ask for some water, they should let you have a bit if you are on the pm list.

Sitting around waiting for ops sucks...

BetsyBoop · 04/06/2013 09:04

Hope you feel better soon Gigs

Why are hospitals always so damn hot...

NedSchneebly · 04/06/2013 09:29

That's a bugger malt - I second asking for a bit of water, or ice chips or something. Should be fine if you're not on til this afternoon. I was on pm list and was still allowed to drink in the morning a bit, iirc. You were asking about a book "Mummy's Lump" here is the link. Might be worth a look if you need some help telling the DCs more info? My DS was 4 when I was diagnosed, so didn't feel it was appropriate for him, but might be good with older ones.

gig how's those good drugs? Hope they are kicking in with a vengeance for you.

Waves wildly back to MAS Smile

Someone was asking upthread where we are all up to: dull update on me! Diagnosed grade 3 2.4cm invasive ductal tumour in January 2012. Had lumpectomy, SNB on first 3 nodes, all came back clear. Chemo - 3 x FEC and 3 x Docetaxol. Vile but doable. Then 4 weeks of radiotherapy. Now on Tamoxifen. Signed off in May by hospital for another 6 months, next mammo in November.

Sending loads of love and hugs to everyone x x x x x x x x x x x x x
