hug for gig and ruby
and hooray for earth -that all sounds very sensible and a good visit- hooray too for lovely onc !
malt hospital packing all sounds about right and will see you through, whether you stay overnight or not. I was actually quite comfy in the v nice gynae ward and was told i could stay if i wanted, but decided to go home to my own bed ! (after I'd had a cup of tea,a sandwich and some jelly !) Be prepared for paper knickers !!
Loads of good vibes heading your way for tomorrow and will be thinking of you xxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2013 18:42

oh gig - what a palaver, still, good that doc is matter of fact..and it'll be sorted soon xxx
Lip salve is v good idea - it's terribly hot and dry in hospital.

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 18:53

And loads of dye (from antiseptic) and possibly ink arrows to indicate which breast. Or maybe it's just me that gets that.

Given I have realised i am rather attractively leaking pus everywhere possibly best am in here.

coorong · 03/06/2013 18:59

Oh I listen to podcasts not music - I like Radio 4 and just listen to loads of different programmes

BetsyBoop · 03/06/2013 19:07

Just a flying visit as off to choir in 15

Earth - that sounds like a P-L-A-N :)
Gig and Ruby hope you are feeling better soon

Malt - I second lip salve for lips, mine are always dry after GA - also a small amount of loose change just in case you are in a bit longer - hospitals (at least mine does) have a trolley come round a couple of times a day with choc/snacks/papers/mags etc - nothing worse that craving chocolate/mints/crosswords and having no money to purchase! Good luck for tomorrow, I hope everything goes smoothly

Got my MRI appt today - this Thursday before my second lot of biopsies.
Implanon implant coming out on Wed pm
So things are starting to move quickly for now
(No doubt this is another round of "hurry up and wait" as we used to say in the army eg they always wanted you rushing round to be ready by 12:00 to start something at 13:00, just to make sure you had a full hour of sitting around doing nowt waiting!)

Well I'm fed up of telling people now (is it normal to feel like this?) I've starting opting out and saying "can you tell X & Y for me please" Everyone has been really lovely though so far, with loads of offers to help. (I will have to try and be better at asking, as it's not normally in my nature as I've always been an independent little madam!)

I still haven't plucked up the courage to phone my lovely SIL (wife of DB who died of bowel cancer is Dec11)

must dash, back later :)

KurriKurri · 03/06/2013 19:28

Earth - that sounds like a good positive appointment - so glad it went well and you have a plan Smile

Gig - bugger to having to stay in and op. - but I guess its got to be done, and hopefully you will be more comfortable afterwards. How can we amuse you?

Ruby - hope those AB's kick in fast and you get better quickly, - wrap up and rest.

malt - I would add ear plugs to your list - it can get pretty noisy at night, and some change to buy a paper/sweets/ tokens for the TV (actually get someone to get you some of those so you are stocked up). Loads of love for tomorrow - it's nervous waiting but this time tomorrow it will be done xx

Waving to all - sounds as if your dear dad had a lovely party MAS Smile

Enjoy You're Fired Copt, hope it's Margaret, she's my favourite too Smile

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 19:52

Thanks will put lip salve in and change
Betsy glad things are moving for you,and enjoy choir
Is it too over dramatic to thank you all for your help and support just in case I don't make it tomorrow? Well thank you all anyway xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2013 19:55

oh malt you daft old thing, of course we'll be seeing you again Grin

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 19:59

Agree with mas you will be back but I worry every time I go under that I won't make it so not unusual .

notJenkins · 03/06/2013 20:01

malt of course you will be fine after tomorrow but I understand how you feel. My surgery had a risk of damaging the nerves involved in breathing and I was convinced I would wake up with a tracheostomy after especially after reading an article in the daily fail about a lady who had one after the same op.
I cried right from putting my gown on to becoming unconscious. The anaesthetist had to find my vein whilst I was clutching a teary tissue. You won't be as wimpy as me I bet Grin

Sorry to hear about your stint as an inmate gigs do you have a balcony ?

notJenkins · 03/06/2013 20:05

I should add that I can still breathe and talk.

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 20:05

No but could climb out window to cat park outside. Am waiting on anti biotic as deciding what kind to give me.

smee · 03/06/2013 20:26

Rushing in to add to hugs for Malt. Remembered it's tomorrow and I'll be thinking of you too. Think of something to say/ repeat, or a tune to hum if you're nervous. That always helps me get to the unconscious bit. You'll be fine though I know. Smile

Gig's in hospital again?! Sad What a sod. Lipsalve sounds like a very minimal need to me. Huge hugs. xx

So sorry I haven't been around. Been madly ducking between half term fun and work. Things are a bit more sane now. Not least because one of my work projects went a bit awry, so have ditched it. Actually a bit of a relief as they were being nightmares. I will read and try and catch up, but fear I'll fail. Hope everyone's okay. Been here in spirit with you all if not in person. xx

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 20:27

NotJ bet I will be like that too I'll hopefully be around to let you know glad you can still breathe and talk
Gigs and MAS thank you :)
Just told dh if I die I want dd to have my jewellery then had a little cry as I didn't know what to leave ds, he won't want jewellery! Dh has suggested he has my i phone he would be over the moon with that Grin
I'm joking- mostly
Xx

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 20:29

Smee x posted thank you :)
Don't apologise for being busy it's good to hear that people move on and get on with life again, good for you Smile

coorong · 03/06/2013 20:31

malt I get ridiculously nervous, so, I ask various people (theatre nurses, anaethetists) to hold my shoulder or my hand. I say "I'm feeling nervous, can you squeeze my shoulder or pat my hand" it sounds daft, but creates a calming connection.

amberlight · 03/06/2013 20:44

Malt, unless there's going to be an asteroid strike on your ward, you'll be back here soon. You'll be fine. Sending you good vibes.

smee · 03/06/2013 20:54

It's alright Malt, there's only one asteroid strike and it's over here. Grin

KurriKurri · 03/06/2013 21:01

malt - you will be fine - but I did all the 'if I don't make it' things you have said too - it is human nature. But you will be fine, - you;re bound to be nervous - coorong's suggestion is a good one - tell them you are very nervous and someone will hold your hand at the hospital and we will all hold your hand on this thread xx

waving to Smee - hope you had a lovely time in Germany, - lovely to see you back Smile xx (do you have German snacks? Grin)

graciesmall09 · 03/06/2013 21:04

See you are back in hospital gigs hope you get infection sorted quickly and are soon back home.

Massive good luck malt for tomorrow. You will be back here in no time.

emin glad you now have a plan and you feel more settled.

Glad the shingles are a little better kurri

Hope you are all ok

jchocchip · 03/06/2013 21:17

Not much changed at the Guide then, Copt Wink A friend of my Auntys was the Landlord until recently and it is a popular spot with bikers...

Well done on the triffid kk, we have seen the last of the bamboo, but I'm going through the soil just in case we missed some...

Hi smee - glad you are back - just dive back in - we haven't been talking about you while you were away (much)

malt - I had an anaesthetic when I had my tonsils out too so bc was the second time - didn't find it too scary - worrying about it beforehand is worse than the experience itself ime. do you know what time you are on the list?

jchocchip · 03/06/2013 21:20

Oh and meant to say, topsy those buns were very rude!!!

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 21:33

Asteroid strike something else to bloody worry about Grin

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 21:34

No don't know what time just that I've got to be there at 7

jchocchip · 03/06/2013 21:41

Betsy - I did delay telling my mum some people until I had pathology results after op. If you are close to your sil, she may prefer to know as soon as possible. Difficult call to make, so wait until you feel ready.

So not fair you are back in gigs At least you did manage to fit in a trip to Tesco...

Found it hard back at work after a week off, must go in early tomorrow and carry on plodding through the emails!

+ve vibes for malt for tomorrow.

Waves to everyone I've missed, need another early night!
