I'm chemo first, which is why it's 8 rounds. They explained the reasons Amber said, plus with a fast growing aggressive form (grade 3, triple negative, inflammatory) there are more likely to be offshoots and the chemo is supposed to kill these off before they take root.

sparklesunshine · 03/06/2013 13:48

Michael's got HPV, same as connected with cervical cancer. He's explaining how it jumped from some woman's cervix to his throat Smile although the virus would have traveled a good deal of that distance itself. They vaccinate boys as well for HPV in Canada for that reason.

sparklesunshine · 03/06/2013 13:55

Gigs - sorry to hear you're back in the hospital and

Malt - good luck for tomorrow

(Sorry for multiposts - it seems to work better on my phone)

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 14:09

Seeing surgeon for check up later-may be admitted today if need iv antibiotics but will have wound wash on weds so not sure when balcony is free. Gp was bit overdramatic about increase in pulse.

I think if Michael Douglas issue does make hpv jab available to boys here that's no bad thing. Hpv incredibly common so more vaccines the better.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2013 14:11

thanks for the words of comfort copt - you are quite right of course.

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 14:21

Fingers crossed for you gigs hope you don't have to wait around too long
Yes MD is to do with the hpv virus

Im packing my case Hmm

Copthallresident · 03/06/2013 14:43

The problem is that I was exposed when living in the states to the miles of newsprint about his sex addiction and the curse of his attractiveness to the opposite sex Hmm, I suppose it is good that he may bring this into the open but am a bit Hmm that it will reinforce the association with being promiscuous when in fact as gigs says it is incredibly common.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 03/06/2013 15:03

Association alive and well if you can judge by another thread running. If Mn is a good illustration of society, then it certainly shows society is quite thick.

Do tell all about tonight as am Envy Copt. Did see last week and think right bloke went - whatever he said, he clearly had issues with women.

Think this week may be toe curling if its about corporate binding days as they are like that st best of times. Is it this week you are seeing and I presume you get sneak preview of show Copt?

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 03/06/2013 15:11

Fingers crossed they don't make you stay gigs GPs are often a bit over excitable but I think it's because surgeons see looooads of cases of this sort of thing whereas GPs only see a few. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

My mouth ulcers seem to have turned into a sore throat and my tonsils are looking a bit scary so I'm off to the GP in a bit.

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 15:13

Yes I think that's right ruby - fingers crossed dont stay in although am feeling so grotty I don't care now.

Hope you get throat sorted ruby.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2013 15:27

Oh poor ruby - hope GP can sort you out xx

Copthallresident · 03/06/2013 16:11

Looks like all the bugs are enjoying the summer weather Angry Hope you get sorted out soon gigs and Ruby

Gigs They do swear you to secrecy, but yes you see episode and then they film your fired and it is shown on Wednesday. Agree about team building, I have been on some really strange ones, one on a welsh hillside involved finding and rescuing a kidnap victim, lots of cryptic clues and things to find on yomps in middle of night, by the time we found farmhouse we were so fed up of stupid game that instead of watching "guards" and working out when gap we just marched up front drive and asked them if they would do us a favour and get lost, which they gladly did. Management prat guru who ran scam was furious we had messed up his game and incited mutiny in his troops! which I thought showed initiative and talent but there you go....... Even the Apprentices couldn't dream up such a monumentally stupid exercise. Still I build a good raft with oil drums and rope for crossing rivers, know how to get team across field with two oil barrels and two planks, and can build very high lego tower, all skills that have come in handy in career and RL Hmm

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 16:45

Thinking of emin hope she's being seen by now
Ruby how did you get on at the docs? Hope they've given you something to help

I used to feel I missed out on these team building days dh used to do a lot but we don't get anything so exciting in the teaching profession ! He still gets to go out for nice lunches etc and I always say the best thing we get is biscuits in the staff room! Wouldn't swap thoughSmile
I'll have spag Bol to go on the trolley might be a bit messy, early tea as its cubs and guides night

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 03/06/2013 17:10

Got penicillin and had a blood test to check my blood count, plus strict instructions to go to A&E if my temperature goes up. I'll do anything I can to avoid that so being careful not to get too warm and keeping up the paracetamol.

cop that team building day doesn't sound much fun, I don't blame you for giving up! Enjoy you're fired.

EMIN I hope you've been seen and they were helpful and answered all your questions.

malt enjoy the spag bol :)

I'm watching Tyrannosaur. We started watching it the other night but my mum found it too upsetting. It really is grim but then it's some people's reality and Olivia Colman's amazing.

EarthMotherImNot · 03/06/2013 17:14

Ta da, I have returnedSmile
The passenger transport arrived early so we arrived at hospital early.Luckily it was a good thing as the doc had just arrived.

Anyway she wants me to have chemo something called Paclitaxel (taxol R) Given either as an (intravenously)injection or through a tube near my collar bone, or into a tube in the crook of my arm (PICC Line). There will be 12 -16 sessions once a week.

She took the time to tell me that had I gone for the chemo originally, in her opinion would have made not a jot of difference because they can't be sure where the secondary came from. It is very unclear just by their tests.
She was lovelyFlowers

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 17:20

EMIN that sounds really positive and you sound much happier than you did yesterday Smile can't believe you are back so soon too !

Ruby look after yourself, I googled that film as I hadn't heard of it does look good

coorong · 03/06/2013 17:38

emin your post sounds positivily positive - isn't it good to have a plan - well done you
am back from the hunt for Mr Darcy - sadly he'd left Derbyshire for London - had to be content with over energetic 4,5,6 and 7 year old ...... copt have you got insiders on you're fired?>>>>> one of the teachers at my placement school was on the apprentice some years back ... he's alwways talking spoilers ...

speaking of which - what happened to the MN thread about the Downing Street affair?

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 17:39

That does sound like a good plan and onc sounds lovely.

Waiting at moment to see consultant- am checked into a room so don't think will get out. Am looking to you look for company.
Malt - what's in your bag? Also be prepared for post ga wobble as can make you quite weepy and disrupt your sleep.

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 17:43

Got pulled that thread but I did get a pm about who it might be if anyone wants it.

You rest up ruby- must be pretty grim as sore throats horrid.

I had a real wobble on way here as had wound infection before radiotherapy was what happened last year before I discovered had mets. Keep having funny flashbacks like this as was same when radiotherapy dept rang.

notJenkins · 03/06/2013 18:02

Oh gigs who might it be ? Do tell.

Hope you don't have to stay in tonight.

Glad you have a good plan now earth

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 18:07

Coorong are you exhausted from counting them all day? Shame about mr darcy!
Gigs you're bound to feel like that it will bring it all back. In my bag so far I have.... please tell me if any of this is stupid as I really have no idea... Pjs and bra both front opening, dressing gown, slippers, spare pants, socks, anti bac wipes, toiletries - toothbrush and paste, face wipes, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion. Trashy non sad magazines, bottle of water, fruit pastilles, chewing gum, teddy, notepad and pen
Might be something else I've forgotten !!
They did say I may be able to come out on the day but I'm thinking as if I'm staying in and have told the kids I'll be in for the night then if I'm not it's a bonus
Anything else ?

coorong · 03/06/2013 18:30

Malt I took my iPod and headphones, but I'm an anti social radio addict in hospital - I took clothes with me, but ended up just wearing a hospital gown for 3 days, then another one with a more complementary back. I did enjoy the newspaper - nice short articles.
. How long are you in for? You might not have a shower - but simply come home for one. I didn't have one until several days after my op (mingling!)

Hopefully you'll end up without post op nausea but with some amiable fellow patients - if not, we want all the gory details of what they are like!!!!

gigs are you back from France? Hope you get it all sorted.

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 18:32

Thanks gigs I've got the weepiness and disturbed sleep already ! Have you been seen yet ?

malteserzz · 03/06/2013 18:35

x post Coorong I wasnt sure when you could have a bath or shower after surgery anyway ?
I know another lady who's in tomorrow, friend of a friend who didn't get clear margins last time so would be nice if I'm next to her as we'd have things to chat about
I can't listen to music anymore it just makes me sad

Gigondas · 03/06/2013 18:38

Yes been seen - here til Wednesday as want to give iv antibiotics then operate to fix wound and put a drain in. But dr lovely and very matter of fact/ reassuring.

Lip salve as my lips always dry post op. Agree about head set to stop noise.
