Hulababy · 21/03/2006 20:19

So sorry to hear this Lou. :(

Twinkie1 · 21/03/2006 20:19

Goodness - no, no experience but hope you get some and can be of some help and reassurance to him.

SleepySuzy · 21/03/2006 20:19

Really sorry to hear that, Lou.

No experience of the same, but my dh has Hodgkins disease (lymphoma cancer), so don't know if I can help with any info. Some excellent websites are Cancer Bacup and Cancer Research for information.

Please keep us posted.

xx

Blandmum · 21/03/2006 20:22

Oh, shit! I am so sorry. I echo what has been saif re BACUP, they were great when dh had both his diagnoses.

Sending hugs for the best possible outcome.

niceglasses · 21/03/2006 20:23

Thinking of you.

Flossam · 21/03/2006 20:23

Lou, so sorry. I used to work with patients with this condition and will be going back to work there again next month. What would you like to know? What has he had done so far? A endoscopy? And are the further tests including a small operation to look at it from the inside? If you want to CAT me I can tell you about it, or I can reply here. If the initial tests are correct then he is going to need a great deal of support. Sad

Chapsmum · 21/03/2006 20:25

lou, I have a little experience of this as I briefly worked in a GI surgical ward.

I'm afraid to say that oesophageal cancer is a very aggresive form of cancer. It is usually treated aggressivly with radiotherpy and surgery.

However if it has not been confirmed he could have whats know as a barrets esophagus which can some times look like cancer, is a pre cancerous condition, but is not cancer and is treatable.

Am so sorry to hear this and am sending you ((((hugs)))))

lou33 · 21/03/2006 20:37

i only got back form thailand this morning, he had the initial tests done when i was away, i have been telling him for months to go and get himself looked at but he has been putting it off Angry

he is going for more tests tomorrow i think, and he has to have a biopsy as well, but judging on his symptoms i would say it isnt good

he has lost an incredible amount of weight in the last couple of months, has had trouble with feeling there is something in his throat, and is now vomiting and coughing blood several times a day

he looks ill

i have no idea what to say to my kids if that time comes, my youngest is only 5

thanks for all your help tho

Flossam · 21/03/2006 20:43

That doesen't sound good Lou Sad.

I typed out a long response detailing things but seeing as he dosen't have a definate diagnoses it dosen't quite seem appropriate. Like I said, feel welcome to CAT me or I can CAT you if you would like.
