Morning, lovely ladies. I bring more rock cakes to the trolley, enhanced by a soupçon of mixed spice. Is it wrong to dip them in my tea? I think not- makes it easier for me test them!

Off to meet the person I was working for when I got my dx to talk about the possibility if doing some work for him in the future (I work for myself and haven't worked since just before my surgery in May last year). It might not come to anything, but at the very least I will have a nice lunch! I now have to dress up smartly for the first time in months!

SweetestThing · 02/08/2012 08:22

Eat them, not test them!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2012 08:48

Hello ! Can't catch up and worried I'm missing important stuff but thinking of you all - Welcome Puffpants though - did see your post and wanted to wish your mum well. Tamoxifen is a top drug and am sure your mum is being prescribed the most suitable treatment for her. Tamoxifen does protect against osteoporosis so maybe that is a reason ?
Having a lovely holiday - beach yesterday , lunch at nice pub then ice cream and a walk on beach followed by a visit to Aldeburgh and Thorpeness and supper in the village pub
Today beach though it looks as though it'll rain Smile

Hi all

Just sending positive vibes and love to all as no time to get on and say anything EXCEPT - it's my birthday today: and it's a big one. Shock How the hell did that happen???!

Keep enjoying the holiday, MAS x

graciesmall09 · 02/08/2012 12:49

Just popping on quickly as feeling pretty bleugh. Think the UTI and chemo yesterday has pretty much wiped me out.

Happy birthday sometimes. Have a great day and hope you get some lovely pressies.

Glad you are enjoying your holiday and having a relaxing time mas.

Thanks for the info lime. My policy is supposed to be unlimited now I have been diagnosed so I will see what happens when my active treatment stops.

Glad you had a good night gigs. Relax and take it easy. DH off until next Wednesday and he is taking the kids to adventure golf. they want me to go next but I think I would rather stick pins in my eyes.

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 13:18

Ha ha! Don't do it then, Gracie. Sometimes it is absolutely required acceptable to use cancer as a sort of Get out of Jail Free card.

My brother, who is a priest, sent me a card that prescribed vodka to ease the pain of reaching 50. So I'm taking that as the Word of God Wink Wine

smee · 02/08/2012 13:42

Happy Birthday to hugely old, but still lovely Sometimes. What are you doing to celebrate then?? Am hoping for something decadent. Fifty deserves many treats. Smile

Gig, hope it's all going smoothly and that the Olympic Swimmers are behaving.

Gracie, definitely play the cancer card, though what on earth is adventure golf? Sounds like a contradiction to me, though now have images of snakes and crocodiles on the fairway. Grin

MAS, hope you're having sun today. Quite lovely here.

Topsy have fun with your sis and family. Are they going to celebrate your news?? Bet they are. Smile

Have a fab lunch, Sweetness, hope you get some work out of it too.

Waving to Kurri, Lime and all. Last lot of lodgers just gone, so am doing heaps of washing (again!). Yet more pain au chocolat for fbt. Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 14:02

Hiya smee Smile

Dd has bought me some beautiful amethyst earrings, and DH has bought me - a weekend away (venue TBC), tickets to see Marc Almond (a guilty pleasure, and he's even agreed to accompany me), two books I wanted and a huge bouquet of blue and lavender flowers. Oh and we are going out to eat at the weekend at my fave restaurant. I believe there may be cake and champagne for later, and at times like this i am genuinely sorry that the FBS trolley is only virtual or I would share with you all well, l I might guzzle the champagne myself

He is v generous Grin

Mum has bought me some gorgeous citrusy cologne that will be perfect when we go on hols. So I am very lucky indeed.

Sympathies on the mountain of washing, always a bind. Bet it was nice to have people staying though (as long as it's not for too long, of course)

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 14:27

Oh that is wonderful news about the baby! What a relief!!!!! Smile

You may be the only other person I have 'met' who likes Marc Almond! Have you ever seen him? He guested at one of the Jools Holland concerts I went to a few years ago and he only sang about 3 songs but, my God, did he sound good! In fact, I've only just remembered this, but even DH had to admit he was fab. I shall go and remind him because he's looking a bit long-suffering about it....

smee · 02/08/2012 14:34

Yes, I've seen him a few times. He's great live. Envy

I have had a bit of an extraordinary morning, as we might be going to Australia for two weeks..! DH has snaffled himself a research grant for a project he's working on, and looking at the cost of air fares we might be able to get a really cheap deal, so all go. We'd fly out on the 18th. Shock

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 14:38

Bloody hell, how wonderful! And what an experience for ds! My turn to go Envy

smee · 02/08/2012 14:43

I know!! We have to decide this weekend, so am trying to cost it all out. We have friends in Sydney, so can stay with them, but we want to hire a camper van to drive to where DH's research is set and that's not cheap. I have my gynae appt tomorrow, so want the all clear from that too.

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 14:47

G'luck, then, for the gynae appointment.

As for the rest, I'd just say go for it and worry later but then I am quite reckless

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 14:52

Sorry smee - to recap - is this a routine smear or something else?? Was so excited about OZ I forgot to clarify Blush

Sorry to read about your wobble, by the way Sad

smee · 02/08/2012 15:04

I've been having pelvic pain on and off for a few months. Sort of like period pain, but I haven't had a period since June 2010. I had to exaggerate the symptoms a bit to get the referral, so made up a tiny bit of spotting. On Tamoxifen we're higher risk for Uterine Cancer apparently, so I wanted it checked out. In the US we'd get routine exams, but here we don't for some reason. tbh, from all I've read, it's most likely cysts (Tamoxifen can apparently cause them too!). Even if it is something more sinister, it's hugely treatable if caught early, so I'm not too worried. I have to have something called a Colposcopy. Not looking forward to it..

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 15:13

Ah, sorry, I missed that. I had a colposcopy years ago: the worst part is that it's a bit erm... intimate, and the fact that they let you watch it on a screen, which is compulsive viewing once they turn the screen towards you, but not necessarily in a good way Wink

Good on you for pressing for the referral. Hope it's OK. (sure it will be)

smee · 02/08/2012 15:58

Glad to hear it's not too grim. A friend said similar. I quite like watching but then I'm weird Grin

KurriotsOfFire · 02/08/2012 18:06

Hello all, - been out to yoga today, then lunch with a friend.

Happy birthday to Sometimes - you must be feeling very much younger than me rather old Grin. Presents sound v-nice - a mystery trip - exciting! Smile

Smee- Australia - you lucky thing, that will be fantastic - I do hope you can get the tickets, what an experience (DS will be a very well travelled young man!). Good luck with the gynae, - I had loads of gynae problems in my 20's and 30's - mostly caused by fibroids, - I hope yours turns out to nothing or something easily sorted (a friend of mine had bleeding on tamoxifen, so they changed her to something else - so I think it is a known side effect).

It is pouring with rain here - really chucking it down - at least I won't have to water my tubs.

By the way - I could do with a few more votes, people are catching me up Shock

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2012 18:37

Happy BIG birthday dear Sometimes GrinGrinGrin I will drink some nice wine in your honour Smile. I also really like Marc Almond Grin
Smee !!!! Wow - amazing news - what an opportunity Envy Wink hope all goes well with colposcopy thing - I don't think I'd want to watch though.
Excellent news about the baby coming home too.
Had a lovely if wind swept day on the beach with a few rain breaks Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 02/08/2012 18:51

Well this is the first time I've done this on my phone (teechnophobe) Amazing the depths of desperation Tae Kwon Do classes can send you to.

Glad the holiday is still fab MAS! You are now the 3rd Marc Almond fan I've found today. Who knew?

KK - have already voted. Hope you win and the prize is worth having x

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2012 19:18

What is this voting for KK ?? Tell me !

KurriotsOfFire · 02/08/2012 19:20

It is for olympic name changes MAS here, - I was in the lead for a while, but someone is overtaking me at a rate of knots now - so I don't think I will win.

smee · 02/08/2012 20:40

I voted for you yesterday, Kurri. You were in the lead then..

Poor Sometimes at Tae Kwon Do on her birthday. I hope there's treats for when she's home.

Gig, how are you?? Are you okay??

You too Gracie, how do you feel now?

And finally, Ned. Is the skin getting any better?
