Sniff air hopefully ...
Watcha cooking ?

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/08/2012 12:07

aw, bless pig dog !
Wow- gig number 4 ! loads of good thoughts for that this week, and hooray for the return of the gigs and dh.
Am going to have supper with parents this evening- mum seemed ok yesterday evening-think it comes and goes- the medications seem a bit of a lottery really- we thought she was definitely doing ok on the current one, but she gets very despondent and thinks they don't work.

Gigondas · 19/08/2012 12:11

Tomato tart, roasted veg, chocolate cake and fruit salad (dh claiming had no fruit and veg which beggars belief when has been in French France ).

You can sit in garden and sip large gins Howard's way style if you like topsy although my Howard's way obsession somewhat dulled by watching an episode with both leo Howard and ken masters in short shorts

Morning all Smile

ILGC - so good to see you, but I'm sorry you have been having a rough time. As MAS says with all you have been through in the past couple of years it is amazing you held things together at all, - it is not surprising it all caught up with you. And frankly when you have depression, to keep functioning enough to work and cope with family is a big achievement. I hope you are beginning to find a way out now and feeling a bit stronger each day xx
What fabulous children you have - they must be make you feel very proud.

topsy - you are home Grin - hope you had a good time and did lots of lazing about interesting educational activities. I'm glad pig dog has his bed back! - You will have to spoil him for a long time so he forgives you for going on holiday without him Grin OH and you will have to get in the queue for that little space in Smee's luggage, - I asked and she hasn't got back to me yet, - I suspect she may have left without making travel arrangements for meShock

If you and Gig are being Jan and Avril, - then I will be Tom

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/08/2012 13:45

mum ok today...lovely food gig -you are clever. My family used to spend the entire episodes of H's Way criticising the sailing (very sailingy family, not me mind, though my dad taught me as a child,I was always a bit scared)

Gigondas · 19/08/2012 13:48

Oh my step dad was doing that last night despite being told not to... He even rewound one bit to prove his point. Also very sailing family but not me.

Food all made now so feet up.

Talking of lunch I see kurri is going against the grain on another thread Wink

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 13:55

I know Gig! - I always seem to get into these things - I think people are getting a bit uptight about a couple of old girls coming over for lunch - how much damage can they do Grin

Luckily my only knowledge of sailing is what I have learned form Howard's Way, - so I just assume it' all correct Grin

KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 13:58

I am just going to make some lemon jumbles (sort of s shaped lemon biscuits) so will put some on the trolley later.

I like the sound of your lunch Gig,- very yummy.

Gigondas · 19/08/2012 14:01

I remember making them as a kid - they were yummy.

There are some threads on here that you do think get a grip! My mum had people to stay/for dinner when I was away. Wonder how that would go down Wink

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 14:31

Dh has just shoved a loaf he is baking into my hot oven Hmm I have tapped my foot and given him the look, but he is unrepentant, my jumbles will have to wait.

Laetissimus · 19/08/2012 14:51

You all seem like nigella domestic goddessesGrin
BBQ here (so DH has to cook)Wink
Had a vino free day yesterday as drank sooooo much at the wedding ( part of my forgetting what's going on )
But teary day today so another bottle open.
I agree totally with the 'get a grip' comment - have a totally different perspective on life now - funny how little comments from people can grate on me and has made me realise how totally self obsessed some people are
Life is a gift which we all should cherish x
Sorry.....Enough of my rambling....
X x

topsyturner · 19/08/2012 15:10

One of my fave comments on this website is when someone says "hands OP a new grip"
Grin

KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 15:28

I think you mean Pig Dog shared his casserole with you topsy Grin

laetissimus - I am about as far from Nigella as it is possible to get - I stick to easy things that don't take long, - and in appearance I'm more like a Hairy Biker Grin
Sorry about teary day, - this business does get to you at times, - I think it's probably a good thing to have a bit of a cry sometimes - you can't bottle everything up.

I think your outlook on things definitely changes - I find I just don't get bothered by little things anymore, I've stopped posting on that thread - really I would have no problem with my mum making herself at home in my house - I would want her to. And some of the things people suggest saying to the poor woman in question Shock - my Mum would be heartbroken if I said something like that to her.

topsy - you will have to crow bar me out of Smee's suitcase, I was here first I tell you

KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 15:33

Oh topsy meant to say - did you see that Ruth Rendell mystery while you were away (it was on last monday, second part next week) I'm just watching it on itvplayer now - sort of creepy mystery - I know you like them too Smile Its called Thirteen Steps Down.

Gigondas · 19/08/2012 15:53

Is it good kurri as may download for hospital?

Also there is good costume drama on Friday with Benedict cumberbatch

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 16:00

I've just finished watching Gig - it's quite creepy and a bit grim, but seems quite a good story.

What is the Benedict Cumberbatch drama? - I'll definitely watch that. I forgot to buy a TV paper last week - so have no idea what's on.

topsyturner · 19/08/2012 16:57

Have sky+ it kk , for my own personal viewing when I manage to get everyone out of the house at the same time !

What's that Gigs ?
Benedict Porn ???

Grin
Gigondas · 19/08/2012 17:04

Yes it's a ww1 thing (so downton type but Tom Stoppard has done the script). What are you going to do about Hathaway whilst you attend to benedict?

And I can't see either of the mini gigs fighting anyone for veg (although baby gig does seem to like fruit but I was lulled Into false sense of smug about big gig eating habits before she learned to object to anything as a toddler).

It is very very hot and muggy here

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 19/08/2012 17:47

Benedict C thing is meant to be a bit rude (certainly the beginning bit) - must check it out. I could borrow some Howard's Way from dad- could put it on T's laptop and lie in bed with it (they've taken the ipad away with them)
Dh and ds took MIL out to lunch and then a drive out towards Lincolnshire-then they're eating again as BIL and SIL come to tea...am bored and missing them. Even the cat has been asleep on my bed all day - it is incredibly hot here. Will go and hose the garden shortly.

KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 17:54

ooh Rude - good Grin

I think this hot weather is getting everyone down MAS. I know we shouldn't complain, - I like the sun, but it's just humid here. Old lady dog is flopping from one room to another miserably, I think I'll give her a hair cut tonight so she's a bit cooler.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/08/2012 18:45

poor old lady dog - not much fun for pets. Have hosed the garden which was nice and cool and will take my bottle of wine over to mum and dad's for supper.

NedSchneebly · 19/08/2012 18:50

Evening all you lovely ladies Smile

Am safely back from hols in deepest devon. Had lovely time, lots of swimming and beach visits, 2 trips to Plymouth aquarium (DS loved the octopus), boat trip and fancy meal out in Dartmouth.

Sending everyone the biggest hugs - I missed you all x x x Will have a proper read and catch up.

KurriKurri · 19/08/2012 18:54

Welcome back Ned - glad you had a lovely time Smile

Octopuses (octopi?) are very cool - your DS is a boy with taste Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/08/2012 08:03
