Another hug for mas - its good they are doing tests but worrying.

Had lovely day out - lunch with friends, acupuncture and final therapy session for a month (had double session today and yesterday to help with my anxiety).

I have wigs (lovely but hot and surprisingly life like but j would suggest help fitting them as its not the most intuitive thing to get). I have fancy silk scarves but also those long linen ones that you can make a turban from- can get them anywhere quite cheaply.

I had a couple of buffs cheaply before but I don't really like how they look - but I coil be doing it wrong. Also not to buy are the pre tied cotton scarves as it could be just me but they look beyond naff.

My latest thing is some Lycra head scarves my sis got from a specialist Afro hair place- they look fantastic , are cheap and come in plain colours .

Oh and I second the Doing your make up as boost - I have an eyebrow stencil that I use (hair going slowly on face but it is thinner).

Will do some cooking for fbs tomorow.

Oh MAS, was just about to post as had remembered your appt, but am only just back from my parents. What a huge sod! Am sending you huge hugs. I know this is hugely unscientific, but I have two friends who have similar, and both turned out to be nothing other than scarring from infection. xxx

Baskets45 · 15/08/2012 20:57

Oh, Mas. Sorry to read your news. It's good you aren't too anxious as nothing you can do with that at present, just turn up for your further appts. Though I do know all that's easier said than done - I hope you get to bottom of it all soon. Hugs from me too.

graciesmall09 · 15/08/2012 21:20

Oh mas hope you get your results through quickly. Didn't you have radiotherapy, wonder could it be scarring from that. Only online now so first chance to reply but I have no problems with you adding the picture to your facebook page. I really love it.

overthemill I bought a couple of nice scarves from Wallis and Accessorize which I love. I also have a wig which is hot and feels like a hat on my head. I got mine at my local Macmillan centre. Not quite sure if it was worth the money to be honest.

gigs glad you had a good day.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/08/2012 22:25

you are all very sweet - it might well be inflammation from an infection- I thought poss. rads damage, but it's on both sides of chest. Just have to wait and see. Feel awful for worrying my dad with it, wish I hadn't said anything now- arghh.

smee · 15/08/2012 23:03

Radiotherapy's a v.good thought, MAS Could well be a mix of things, but some Rads damage, some inflammation is hugely likely I'd say. Horrible to have it all floating round in the unknown though. Will have to find extraordinary fbs to distract you over the next little while. Smile

overthemill, I didn't lose all of my hair, but kept a bit of fringe/ back, with a massive band of baldness in the middle. Made it a bit easier for me, so I went with scarves across/ few buffs and beanies were a favourite too. I had a wig, but never wore it.

Gracie, how's Picc now?? hope not still sore.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/08/2012 07:28

you might be right there smee - and fbs are always a good distraction. Blood test today, not at my surgery where they know to lie me down etc but at community hospital - ds said he'd come along but I suspect he might be still in bed when I go.

Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 11:06

Aaargh!! hope I haven't missed the chance to send good vibes for blood test to MAS. x

They are always so super cautious when you have had cancer - batteries of tests that cause major panic, if not in you then in your nearest and dearest Sad Hand holding like mad, though am (honestly) sure it will be just fine. Will check back in later to make sure they treated you right at the community hospital.

Gigondas · 16/08/2012 11:18

Yes hope blood test went ok - I bloody hate them too. And I think both topsy and I said that hunting for infection (which dr told me doesn't always show up on blood tests) by scans and x ray is something they do- they Were going to do it with me before identified picc line issue.

Talking of which how are you today?

Blueberry pancakes on fbs trolley for anyone who wants them. I am having a domestic goddess day Grin - trying to do laundry, sort toys before friend comes over later. My reward is hitting the shops and specifically Lakeland plastic tomorrow - dh I hope you aren't reading this as I know your views on Lakeland Wink.

smee · 16/08/2012 11:48

G'ah, just wrote a post and lost it.. Am sending easy bloods vibes for MAS too. I have a theory that they're better at taking it at the hospital units. Hope I'm proved right. x

Sometimes where are you going on holiday?? I've forgotten.

Gig are you Goddess in a Nigella type way? That seems to involve eating most of it yourself, so I hope you are. Smile

Lots of A-level results for friends DC today. Am feeling v.nervous for them. Sandripples, hope your DS gets the grades he needs for Imperial. Let us know, it must be v.stressful waiting..

Raining again here...

Gigondas · 16/08/2012 11:51

Oh yes more good vibes for sandripples and anyone else waiting on results.

And eating food is naturally part of my plans smee

Smile
MaryAnnSingleton · 16/08/2012 13:00

argh ! Went to community hosp. and found that they only do bloods on a Wednesday so drove back to my doctors and they can't fit me in until Monday, so it's back to hospital for me this afternoon - arse...still,it'll be an outing for the boy.
One friend's d got his required grades for university-yay- also sending vibes to SR !

smee · 16/08/2012 13:25

What a palaver. Hope hospital get it done quickly and the hospital has a decent cafe for after blood treats! Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 13:38

Arse indeed, MAS!! Angry

Smee - it's Cyprus for me, and I'm really not good in the heat.... not our choice, we're going to a wedding in Aiya Napa (sp???) Really. I kid you not.

Anyway, it's nice of them to ask us so we are all going - we have just picked up the travel cash. I must say, it's a shame we saw a news item on TV the other night about a "terrifying" episode on Monarch Airlines - guess who we're flying with ?????!! Shock Grin

Positive vibes aplenty for all those getting exam results today!

Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 13:39

Oh and Smee - are you excited yet about Oz?

Well of course you are, what a daft question Smile

smee · 16/08/2012 14:37

Isn't that where they have all the raves? [old fogey emoticon] Bet you'll have a fab time. What was the Monarch Airlines incident? Must have missed that.

Yes, v.excited about Oz, but horribly disorganised. I have only just booked my travel insurance. First time I haven't been told I can't have BC cover. Smile

Gigondas · 16/08/2012 15:14

Done your visas for aus smee - think it can be done online. Presumably it's only bc related conditions that are excluded on insurance.

I went to ayia napa in my wild youth Blush. But Cyprus is lovely and should be warm.

Hope blood tests sorted today. I managed to get a bin bag and a half of comic toys and plastic toys out of big gig and mini gig room. There are no prizes for her remembering that this tat has gone and complaining when she comes home.

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 15:18

Yep, we've still got to do the insurance thing Blush

Aiya Napa is indeed where they have all the raves, but apparently there is also a very lovely bit called Nisi beach which is where we are officially staying, I think.

The Monarch thing - the pilot left his link into the passenger cabin open and was heard shouting "Mayday, Mayday request permission to land etc" which caused mayhem among the passengers - apparently it was a plane they had hired in from Slovakia or some such place and it developed a problem and had to land pronto. Would probably have been less alarming for the passengers without the girly screaming, although still a bit inconvenient to have to land somewhere random, obviously. Good job dd didn't see. Wish I hadn't, really, I'm not a good flyer, it just doesn't seem like a rational thing to attempt Hmm

smee · 16/08/2012 15:42

Shock at that pilot. Must have been terrifying. Nissi Beach is supposed to be lovely. A friend went there last year and had a great time. I think you'll get a fair breeze won't you? Should cool you down enough to enjoy it. Will DD have other kids to play with? so you can ignore her and read lots of books Smile

DH is the organised one Gig, so he sorted the Visas last week. Well done on the bin bag. Amazing how much tat they can acquire. I'd bet she won't even notice. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 15:44

Yes, there are kids going so it is all looking good. And I am hopeful on the breeze.....

smee · 16/08/2012 16:08

Think I might slink into your suitcase, Sometimes. Sounds relaxing to me. Australia will be lots of things, but relaxing isn't one of them. Grin

Have heard from all various friends with teens awaiting results and they've all got what they needed. Has put a huge smile on my face. Smile

KurriKurri · 16/08/2012 16:08

Afternoon all, - I've had book club today, then friend back for lunch afterwards. Then we went for a nice long walk - we found a new circular trail, which we hadn't seen before, and we met a very friendly horse who insisted we pat him for half an hour or so Grin

MAS - pain about the community hospital, hoe yo have managed to get the bloods done at the hospital.

It's my thirtieth wedding anniversary today. DH completely forgot about it, so after I gave him his card he rushhed down tot he village shop and came back with a box of Roses chocs. and a card which said 'Happy Birthday' HmmGrin

scatters Roses on FBS trolley (not the hazelnut whirls, I'm, having them Grin)

good luck to all teenage DC waiting for exam results - hope they all get the grades they need.

Sometimesiwonder · 16/08/2012 16:19

I WANT HAZELNUT WHIRLS!!!

Many congratulations, KK and Mr KK!

KurriKurri · 16/08/2012 16:45

Thank you Sometimes Smile - you may have a hazelnut whirl as long as you also take a hard caramel Grin
