No it wasn't too bad Sometimes - it had got very dried out and dead. I did empty an old grow bag out and there was a ginormous toad inside - made me jump even though I like toads Grin

The same friend also lent us a large oil can when our tank leaked (abpout 2 years ago I think?), - very grateful for the loan, - but again the oil drum is sitting in our garden and despite DH constantly saying 'can I bring it back to your house' the guy keeps making excuses, -he obviously just wants to store it in our garden Hmm
Actually I say friend - he is more Dh's friend than mine - I think he's a bit of a grumpy git Grin his wife is nice (and very longsuffering) though.

KurriotsOfFire · 06/08/2012 17:35

Aww what a lovely photo Sometimes, - she looks as if she's having a great time - what a little star Smile

smee · 06/08/2012 17:50

Grin at Baskets. Cervix wrapping paper's inspired!

MAS, sounds like you need a distraction while you wait for appt, though possibly cervix wrapping paper's a step too far. I still think infection, but no point telling you not to worry. Annoying you have to wait until 15th.

Sometimes, lovely pic of your DD. What's her new teacher like? Do you think she'll push her a bit more than the last one? Hasn't she got a friend or two to nudge her along? Makes a mass of difference to my DS, as I'm sure he'd coast if he wasn't keen to keep up with his mates.

Kurri, v.funky bag. You'll be wow-ing Norfolk with that. Smile

Overthemill, I reckon you'll feel a lot better once first one's done. Fill up an iPod with podcasts. That's what I did. Also took a hilarious friend on a few occasions who made me laugh a lot, so time passed quickly.

Gracie, sorry you're feeling a bit slumped. To be expected, but still. Bet you feel like you've still a way to go, but you're doing amazingly I reckon. Smile

Back from Olympics. Was fantastic, not extraordinarily exciting, as it was all heats, but crowds were fun, stadium's grand and I can now say I was there. Wasn't even on back row just fourth row from the back Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 06/08/2012 18:00

Smee - just the sense of atmosphere and knowledge that you are there is fab, I imagine!

Not sure what dd's new teacher is like, she has been off on maternity for a bit and haven't ever really met her. As for mates pushing dd on - she is the swottiest kid out. Application isn't the problem - it's just that she finishes the work double quick, then finishes the extra they give her, then they can't find anything else for her to do and they send her to help with photocopying, or helping the littler kids with spellings, or summat. Not ideal. Soon there will come a time when work is Not Cool, I am sure, so I want her to do as much as she can (and wants) while she DOES still want. Do I sound pushy? perhaps I am....

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/08/2012 18:30

fab photo of dd sometimes !! that girl will go far I know it !
Have had hair trim and a bit of lovely colour so feel rejuvenated ! Am not fretting about appointment -it'll be something silly like infection I'm sure.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/08/2012 18:31

smee sounds a grand day out !

smee · 06/08/2012 18:36

I don't think you sound pushy, Sometimes. Must be frustrating. Is she just leaps ahead of the others then? Sounds like she must be. Quite a nice problem to have in a way, but worrying too as she could switch off.

MAS, haircut sounds like the way to go. What colours did you have?

Gig, how are you today? Meant to ask in previous post. x

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 18:37

Done in but ok. You up for lunch Next week some time (and anyone else) if you are around?

And agree you don't sound pushy sometimes but really sensible.

Have now turned into slob as impatiently awaiting dsis to make my supper Grin

Looks like little sometimes had a ball. Lovely photo.

smee sounds like a fab experience, even to just say you have been there is great. Glad you didn't have to sit at the back. Grin.

mas Hair appointment sounds lovely. Have you changed colour?

Like gigs I am waiting to see if someone is going to produce dinner although I fear I may have to at least look like I'm doing something rather than turning into Waynetta Slob.

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 18:45

If you are waynetta does that make me Wayne gracie

Gigs, I would love to, but it might be tricky now we're off to Oz on Saturday 18th. We're away this weekend, I have to be away for two days next week for work, and I somehow have to trek to see my parents too before we go. All might make it a bit improbable. Just a bugger of timing, as would love to if it wasn't next week!

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 19:01

No worries - why don't we do it another less fraught time. Have you sorted aus trip?

OP posts:
smee · 06/08/2012 19:19

Sort of in that we've booked the flights. Also, had an extraordinary bit of luck, as we've been given a studio live/work space for DH to create in and us to live in. It's on the waterfront in Sydney, so that kind of tipped it for us to go. we can stay there for a week before the trek over the desert. We stayed there four years ago so we know it backwards. Am amazed how it's all falling into place. Kind of feels meant. Smile

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 19:20

That is so good Grin - an excited for you

all sounds brilliant smee What is happening with Ninja ?
Hair is low lighted with nice warm coppery brown shades Grin

graciesmall09 · 06/08/2012 20:07

Waves to wayne Grin

Chemo brain again smee but I can't remember how long you are going for but it sounds fab.

Think we need photos of new hairstyle mas

smee · 06/08/2012 20:46

Ninja is sorted, MAS. A friend of a friend who's part of the Paralympic Opening Ceremony is going to stay. He loves cats, so Ninja will be spoilt. Smile

We're going for 2 and a bit weeks. All a bit ridiculous in that it's not long enough and we're so disorganised, but it's a once in a lifetime thing and remarkably not going to cost too much due to DH's grant, so felt mad not to go. Though have to say atm, I feel exhausted by the idea of it. And yes I do know I'm spoilt!

Baskets45 · 06/08/2012 21:00

Sorry, Gig, slow on uptake here and din't realise (till now!)this is time when the family are all away. It must be weird, but glad your sis is with you. Smee, the oz trip sounds so good. Big crisis here as our (fairly new) boiler on the blink. DH out very early tomorrow so I'll need to be up and perky very early for 'man' to come. Perky not my style just now, or early. Like others here, i get all anxious with tradesmen coming to house, and also due to poor hearing worried about missing doorbell. I'll need to set an alarm. aargh! and go to bed without a warm bath which does help me sleep. Small fry, I know. moan, moan. BWs to all. Have read and forgotten as usual. Goldfish brain bad at mo ....

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/08/2012 21:10

sympathies about pesky boiler baskets - I always get in a real pickle about any domestic stuff like that, requiring men in.
Hate having my picture taken gracie Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/08/2012 21:10

hope you're doing ok gig - nice to see pics of mini and big on fb

graciesmall09 · 06/08/2012 21:27

Hope you get your boiler sorted soon baskets. Hopefully it will be something very simple and cheap to fix.

I hate having my photo taken too mas but that is more due to the fact a wide angled lens would be needed to fit me in the frame Grin

2 and a half weeks in Oz sounds great smee and on the waterfront sounds even nicer.

Heading to bed as feeling yuck. Night all.

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 21:50

Feeling a bit Sad as is dh about being apart so off to bed too

smee · 06/08/2012 22:43

Aw, Gigs. You need someone to give you a huge hug. Must be hard them not being there. Have you got nice distractions planned, or are you too wiped out by the chemo?

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/08/2012 23:26

Aw Gig Sad hugs xxxxx
