Drugs. Which have you tried?

Everyone's talking about drugs this morning.

These days I'm a regular user of caffeine and alcohol.

I used to be T Total and caffeine-free in the nineties but I did enjoy cannabis regularly and ecstasy and acid less regularly.

I can't imagine taking those these days (with the possible exception of the odd spliff Wink, because I'm too busy with the kids and can't afford to step out of the real world these days.
I also wonder how I'll feel if and when my kids decide to experiment.

How about you?

OP posts:
fastasleep · 01/03/2006 14:09

I reckon everyone on this thread should get stoned or high and then have a thread going - it would be brill! Grin

Obviously without the kids there!

Plus I bet after about 10 minutes we'd be typing like cod..

nailpolish · 01/03/2006 14:10

there certainly wouldnt be any arguing, fastasleep Grin

MrsBigD · 01/03/2006 14:16

oh yes there would ... about the various colours of the psychidelic (sp?) scheme LOL

PiccadillyCircus · 01/03/2006 14:17

I'm not really holier than thou - just more boring.

And have only had sex with DH.

nailpolish · 01/03/2006 14:18

true mrsD, we always find something to argue about on here! Grin

WigWamBam · 01/03/2006 14:23

I winced a bit at the holier-than-thou comment, PC ... I'm not holier-than-thou, just very innocent (and probably too honest). And rather jealous that I've never had the nerve to do some of the things that some of the other posters have done!

NotQuiteCockney · 01/03/2006 14:24

I'm pretty sure I couldn't type on acid.

I once spent half an hour (I think?) lying on the floor, gesturing with one arm, watching all the tiny multi-coloured arms on the back of a picture copy my every gesture.

PiccadillyCircus · 01/03/2006 14:25

Me too WWB.

I don't actually want to do the things, just feel a bit jealous almost that I haven't. A bit like not being picked for teams at school.

In fact no one has ever even offered me cigarettes or drugs.

fastasleep · 01/03/2006 14:26

WWB, I didn't mean people who ahd alreayd posted, I was amazed that someone hadn't come on like this..

'OMG HOW DARE YOU MENTION THIS IF YOUR CHILDREN SEE THEY WILL BE DRUG TAKING DILINQUENTS BEFORE THE NIGHT IS OUT YOU TERRIBLE PARENTS!'

not knocking the innocent, I'm quite innocent myself really!

DissLocated · 01/03/2006 14:27

I think they'll write 'tried it once and didn't like it' on my gravestone! (Except alcohol and caffeine, obviously)

Enid · 01/03/2006 14:27

I could never take drugs now

cant smoke a spliff as I dont smoke at all so can't take it down

would freak out if I took an E or acid

coke is a load of wank

there are probably loads of new ones around now anyway

I dont even drink real coffee any more.

kitegirl · 01/03/2006 14:28

was introduced to pot aged 17 in Colorado, to LSD aged 20 in Amsterdam, to ecstacy aged 21 in Manchester, and when I started my City job in 1996, a coke habit was de rigour. Some childless friends still do it, I find it boring, I left it all behind when got pg with ds. Had some epic times but don't miss it. I don't dare think what I am going to say to the kids when they are old enough to be told.

Enid · 01/03/2006 14:29

oh and I once stayed up for four days after taking some strange blue pills.

No idea what they were.

nailpolish · 01/03/2006 14:31

i dont think i ate for about 4 years.............

MrsBigD · 01/03/2006 14:32

not sure what I'm going to tell my kids either... but then again... whoever came up with Teletubbies must have been on something Grin

donnie · 01/03/2006 14:32

I drink wine and also have the odd 'social' ciggie ( never smoked when preggers though) plus tea and coffee in moderation.
I did try speed and spliffs a few times at uni but they made me feel like sh*t, amd the people I knew who took them regularly were always out of it and as a result the most boring bunch of tossers imaginable.

bluejelly · 01/03/2006 14:33

So has anyone whose done them actually got older kids and managed to explain it all to them in a mature and honest manner? Like many posters I am a long way off that day, but still wonder how I'll approach it...

WigWamBam · 01/03/2006 14:34

Sorry, FA, it wasn't your post I meant ... it was the one that followed it saying that the holier-than-thous were already on the thread. Which I took to mean those of us who had posted but never taken anything.

I wouldn't even know where to go to get hold of the stuff, let alone how to take it!

Enid · 01/03/2006 14:35

well I don't think I will s**t myself if dd1 smokes a spliff put it that way

QE2 · 01/03/2006 14:36

"Holier than thou?" - no way am I that. But am pretty gobsmacked at the posts on here, the way you are all extolling the virtues of drug taking! The mind boggles.

Drugs are such bad news.

spacedonkey · 01/03/2006 14:36

I have older kids, and my eldest asked me straight out about this. I'd not discussed it with her before, but always thought if she asked me straight I'd give her a straight answer. Which I did, and I think it's the right thing to do.

nailpolish · 01/03/2006 14:37

i think i would be more upset if my dd lied to me about taking anything, booze, a fag, a spliff, whatever

Enid · 01/03/2006 14:38

course they are QE2

but they are not a life sentence

NotQuiteCockney · 01/03/2006 14:39

I don't see much difference between drugs and alcohol and cigarettes. They all have their problems and their plus sides (well, I don't see a plus side to cigarettes, but that's maybe just me).

madmarchhare · 01/03/2006 14:39

Had a good go (except crack and heroin) in my teens and twenties. Still smoke from time to time, eg its my birthday on friday and were having a bit of a bash with DS staying at MILs.

Not sure what to do when DS gets older. OK, so nothing bad happened to me, however, if I really think about some of the situations/states I have been in, they could have easily gone the other way ifswim.

It really does worry me that drugs do seem to be more available than they used to be.
