topsyturner · 17/06/2012 19:45

Yes Mas , Captain Hooks mate !
Hmmm Figgy Rolls ?
Summat to do with biscuits per chance ?

Gig I think it's time for your DH to have a stern word with the unreliable nanny .
Ask her if she actually wants this job ?

Am glad you are all jealous of my red tattoos , although I really can't see them any more !

Have been watching Dirty Dancing this evening .
Drifts off sighing to She's Like The Wind ...
Grin

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 20:00

yep dh is going to do that (again...) topsy . Glad you don't think I am being precious.

have put new hair photos on profile page.

dirty dancing on my to watch while am in ...along with practical magic, when harry met sally, working girl, two weeks notice, one day and call the midwife (didn't see it when it was on) ... that should keep me occupied.

smee I always thought it was peter pan but like your explanation better.

OP posts:
smee · 17/06/2012 20:15

Waving at Gig, now I know what you look like. Am liking the hair. Very chic. cute pics of your DD's too. Smile

Yes, my name's Captain Hook's man too, so a double edge choice. Kind of appropriate as I am often to be found in a stripy top too, though I am slightly less old, male and piratey.. Grin

Eye drops working, boy in bed reading, so am plotting a big bath with indulgent restorative bubbles, as my back's not been so good the past day or so.

Lime, if you're eavesdropping, how was the party? Hope not too soggy for fun. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 20:24

looks great gig !

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 20:24

smee you can be gig's fb friend and see all her lovely pictures Grin

KurriKurri · 17/06/2012 20:32

Love the photos Gig - you look great, as smee says, a very chic lady. Love your DD's too - what cuties Smile

I like the sound of double strength marmite, - I shall have to look out for that.

My tattoos are boring old black/dark blue, - topsy you old show off with your red ones Grin

I've done a bit of gardening today - I'm more comfortable outside where its cooler, but my scalp and eye are hurting now and I feel very tired, so am going to flop into bed with a book.

ned - so glad you are out of hospital and weren't in for long, - did you see Countryfile tonight? - it was about Dorset,- the Isle of Purbeck which is where I grew up Smile

waving to MAS, Sometimes, Figgy and Amber, hope DS feels better soon Smee, hayfever is horrid, DD has suffered for years, particularly bothersome for children I think Sad

My name comes from a book I had as a child called KurriKurri the Kookaburra, - its also apparently the name of a place in Australia - I didn't know but a very nice Australian mner told me - she lives near the town of kurri Kurri.

Smee - I thought you were a pirate too, - I was 'Smee' in a production of Peter Pan at school my one and only line was 'They do say as the surest sign a ship's accursed, is when there's one aboard more than can be accounted for.' - No idea why I can remember that 40 years later, when I couldn't manage to get it right at the time Grin

Baskets45 · 17/06/2012 20:39

Your hair's lovely, gig. Really just came on/signed in to wish you well for this week's events. Also Topsy, for this week's chemo. (also wanted another laff at smee's pea pod pic - I keep laughing every time I think of it. I don't have much going on in my life!!!)

Hope Ned picks up now she's got horse pills, and can stay at home. I hope the rads planning goes okay, and you get a nice colour of tattoo! I know these things matter ....

Passive. Welcome but sorry you are here. I hope you soon find out what is happening and it's not as you fear.

Jennie - Isn't it awful to think that only a couple of decades ago, ppl were being given shocking news in grey/green rooms (sorry, I'm just being biased. i know not all hosp rooms are grey/green - it just seems like it in my cynical view), and there was nowhere unhospitally to go for support. And no internet either. Really glad you found Maggie's and that it was helpful.

Kurri - hope you are picking up too. Shingles can be so horrid esp round your eye.

Hugs to all, esp those I've not mentioned. Sods law I'll have missed someone who's having an especially awful time. i read all the posts, think supportive thoughts, and almost immediately forget details. Goldfish brain here.

xxx

Figgyroll · 17/06/2012 20:52

Sad I can't see your photos, Gigs. Are they on here or on FB? Wishing you lots of luck for next week.

KK, I hope you haven't overdone it today. You should be taking it easy. Enjoy your book.

Glad that the eyedrops are working on DS, Smee.

Basket, I've got a goldfish brain too. Smile I read, try to post then forget who said what and when.

Baskets45 · 17/06/2012 20:56

x posted with kurri. Interesting about your user name and I did wonder. I had guessed Gig's was a bottle of wine!! Not sure I want to tell you mine, as it's a bit derogatory and does not reflect me as I am now. Okay, here goes - when i first signed on to MN I was a bit of a 'basket case' and 'baskets' was the 3rd one I tried - can't recall the others but they weren't available. The 45 was the age I was a few yrs ago, and I tend to use the same no so i can remember it!! I signed up in order to ask a qu on MH thread which - surprise, surprise! - never got posted. I don't post on there. I find it, ahem, a vaguely depressing and frustrating place ....

Guess what, I have had a breast abscess for the last few days. Quite weird as I haven't lactated for a very long time, and only ever got these then. i don't think it's anythign sinister, seems quite superficial. Keeping an eye on it, will get it checked out if I am concernd. Just feel a bit sick with the pain. And I've read amber's stats so not worried.

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 21:21

Glad people like hair as was bit uncertain. Figgy will check my settings so you can see

OP posts:
topsyturner · 17/06/2012 21:32

Very swish Gigs , I likey .
And your DDs are real cuties !

Ouch Baskets that sounds nasty (the abscess) , hope it goes quickly .
And I think if I chose my user name based on my mental health I should be known as Bedlam Bound !
Grin

Have just got out of a lovely bath with aromatherapy "relax" oil in it .
Then sprayed myself liberally with some French body oil .
Am feeling very relaxed and slippery now Grin

Got to be at the hospital for 10.15 tomorrow , and I am being brave and going on my own . Am saving DH for when I actually have the chemo , don't want him taking too many days off work .

Another grim night of football on the tellybox .
Might go to bed and watch Borgen on iplayer .

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 21:34

Virtual hand hold for the slick topsy for tomorrow. I too am going to scan alone- it is seriously a depressing experience topped off by fact you always have students butchering you to do the jabs.

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 17/06/2012 21:50

Quick pop on as feeling very tired, must be getting too old for late nights. Since I had my picc line 'unblocked' I have been getting weird chest pains walking. Think I will have to mention it this week to nurse but feel like a blooming hypochondriac but something just doesn't feel right.

Hello to all. Glad ned you got home. Take it easy and rest.

Positive thoughts to topsy and gigs for this week. Will be thinking of you both. Working tomorrow or I would have offered you a lift topsy as I have mum's car but will be thinking of you both.

baskets hope abscess pain eases.

graciesmall09 · 17/06/2012 21:51

PS love the hair gigs, you suit it.

KurriKurri · 17/06/2012 22:06

Loads of good vibes for topsy and Gig tomorrow, will be thinking of you both xx

Baskets - hope that abcess clears up soon, sounds painful - poor you.

Night night all xx

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 22:22

Baskets you can get breast abscesses :lactation type stuff for years (i had a milk blister removed two years after I stopped feeding as wouldn't go). Have heard of someone with issues 20 years later so I don't think it's unknown.

Mh doesn't seem great but relationships can be quite scary too.

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/06/2012 22:29

Phew, have just caught up and now it's time for bed!

Just wanted to give Topsy and Gigs love and hugs for tomorrow/this week x

And to Kurri, poor you, hope the horse pills get rid of those shingles quick. Ouch x

Gigs by the way, I can't see your photos either?

My tatts are boring biro-blue. My username is from a Viz cartoon I used to laugh at back in the Eighties, and identify with now!

Smee the party went pretty well - unbelievable, massive amounts of noise but very little mud! The weather wasn't too bad so they all had a great time playing games in the woods. They were all ravenous and for the first time ever I nearly ran out of party food instead of having mountains left!

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 22:40

handholding and love to topsy & gig for tomorrow xxxx

Baskets45 · 17/06/2012 22:42

Good that Junior Lime and friends had happy party, with little mud. Is that even possible these days?!

Acc to BBC we are going to be rainfree between noon and 4 pm tomorrow. We have mountains of wet washing. Yay, yay, yay, if it's even true.

Acc to Dr Google (I know, I know!) my abscess is common in adolescent girls. I must be younger than i feel.

A funny story re horse pills. Years ago I was au pair in france and had a bad bout of tonsillitis/ lost my voice/was very hoarse. The father of the house gave me some medicine, told me in English 'This is hoarse medicine'. Now, where I come from, a hoarse is a big animal with 4 legs and a swishy tail.

BTW, Gig, is it time to revisit 1st nanny's contract? I'm sure it's the last thing you need just now.

Good night, all. Take care, and let others take care of you too, where appropriate.

xxx

Baskets45 · 17/06/2012 22:48

Needing to further my Scandanavian cultural studies, if I only ever watched one crime series of the many available these days from Scandanavia, which would you recommend? I live in a weird TV free zone, so tend to be mo ths if not years behind and watch on DVD. What do our resident experts, Kurri and Topsy et al, think?

topsyturner · 18/06/2012 07:57

Baskets I would watch The Bridge .
Brilliant , strong female lead in it .

All of you , tell me to get my arse off the interweb . I have to leave in an hour and a half for hospital , and still have 2 kids to get out of the house and I am still in my pjs !!!!

Good luck Gig , will be thinking of you .

And Gracie lovely thought , we could have gone for coffee and I could have admire your lovely hairless head Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/06/2012 08:44

good luck gig and topsy - have a good day everyone.Hope kk is less itchy.

Gigondas · 18/06/2012 09:20

boots topsyoff the fbs trolley and off to get tested.

have updated profile so people can see photos.

nanny 1 dealt sternly with so crisis over (for now...). also she has reverted to having no free will as can hear big gig ordering her around now...

Am saving all the scandy crime stuff for one of next trips in. Now I think about it the thought of a few trips in where I can just read or watch tv isn't so bad. its a bit like going to a spa but with less swanky surroundings and more of a focus on the toxifying than the detox.

NedSchneebly · 18/06/2012 09:29

Just dashing on to send positive and loving vibes to gig and topsy for today. Thinkng of you both lots and lots x x x x x x

Knackered today - think I might creep back to bed later. . .

Sometimesiwonder · 18/06/2012 09:30

Swinging in to send good vibes to Topsy and Gig, and sympathies to Baskets for the abscess, and mini Smee for the hay fever. And to apply calomine to KK's itchy parts.....

AND

Swinging out to do a new business proposal Sad
