tsk that dh didn't seem to appreciate father's day efforts topsy - harrumph.
Dh got 4 bottles of beer and a card and my dad got a card and beer and I made him a cd. Thinking of you especially kk.
gig hair sounds good and swish and that's encouraging about the wig - will be thinking of you this week -will you stay in touch while in hospital ? Have you packed fbs ?
smee times tables- ds could never remember them,me either.
We had lunch outside in the garden- a little blowy, but warm in the sun.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 14:43

My nom de mumsnet is the name of a main character in the Tales of the City books, by Armistead Maupin- which I love.

topsyturner · 17/06/2012 14:45

Ooh very classy Mas

Mine is the name of my Old Dead Cat Grin Blush

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 14:59

Yep my name is wine inspired - user name originally was my old dead dog too.

Will try and post some swishy hair photos later. An gorging now on basis need to feed up while I feel like it (have been warned hospital food yuck so have fbs). And should be online when there (prob more than usual if twiddling my thumbs whilst being pumped full of the good stuff).

Nanny playing up again- has been arranging day switches etc without our permission which isn't on and also I am sensitive about as potentially might have left us short on cover on Friday when am
Meant to be home (and will need dh to help). All this was exactly why bit the bullet to get extra help... Had various passive aggressive texts and phone message about how this was all agreed (not in writing and certainly not that dh me or other nanny can remember). I could quite cheerfully deck the woman. I know I am
Mega sensitive but now see what all those posts about women about to give birth getting sensitive about small things. I don't have the energy to have perspective and the least thing ESP about arrangements upsets me.

Have scan/Cbt tomorrow then in proper on tuesday.

Fathers day relatively low key here- card Made for dh. He cooked breakfast and is Doing dinner with me so no days off Grin

My user name is not inspired by anything, except the fact that i am pretty clueless and spend a lot of time wondering what the hell is going on, and how everyone else seems to know stuff that I just don't.

Lots of good wishes for everyone especially Gig - will be thinking of you my lovely and will light a candle - and for KK's break. I hope it stops raining enough for you to get out in the sea air. (By the way, I got a Desmond as well: it's a sign of a well-rounded university life, I think Wink)

Took myself for a very gentle and short swim today - the first since my back op. Not sure if I am supposed to do that yet or not because i was a bit woozy when they read me the rules - must remember to fess up to the physio on Tuesday and see what she says. Anyway, it seemed OK and I could still walk when I got out, so that's a start.

It has just started pouring here - again Sad All washing drenched.

NedSchneebly · 17/06/2012 15:59

Afternoon all - lots to catch up on. . .

Did end up in hospital, but levels not too critical, so sent home with 2 lots of oral antibiotics and codeine for aches and pains. Feeling a bit better this afternoon.

kurri shingles sounds rotten - sorry you missed out on trip to Dorset. It's actually quite sunny here for once! Keep takin the horse pills, and hope you feel better soon.

topsy feeding a cold is definitely the way forward. Caramel nibbles and popcorn on fbs trolley for you x x

smee loving the outfit!!!!!!!!! he he he he!

sometimes good work on the swim. . . I can't wait to get back in the pool, its definitely my favourite exercise.

gig I definitely found the reality of chemo was significantly easier than the sense of anticipation of what it could be like. I have now lost every scrap of hair from everywhere (sorry tmi!) though eybrows and eyelashes hung on til last cycle. Sending you masses of strength and positive vibes for this week. Thinking of you lots. Sorry nanny being a nightmare - you definitely don't need that hassle.

My MN name is from my favourite film, School of Rock. Being a musician too, it sort of fitted!

Have got planning appointment on Thursday for rads. What is it likely to involve? Says I need to be there an hour.

A while ago I applied for a breast cancer weekend of fly fishing for beginners, funded by charity called casting for recovery. Anyway, I got offered a place! It's the weekend after my rads finish so I am hoping that I'll not be too knackered to go. . .

Waves to everyone - I am constantly in awe of the bravery, support and love that flows from every pore of this thread x x x x x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 16:17

oh thank goodness you're out ned - hope you're feeling much better.
Rads planning is fine- you'll go on a simulator thing where everything is mapped out and measured for your treatment and you'll get the pin prick tattoos and probably be told about aqueous cream etc..really nothing to worry about. They will probably draw on you in pen too.
gig sorry to hear that the nanny is being a pain again - very annoying.
Am sure the anticipation of the unknown is worse than the reality -I've always found this to be the case.

Sometimesiwonder · 17/06/2012 16:24

KK got shingles??? How did I miss that???? So sorry to hear it, what a pig. Hope you feel better soon. Sad Was it you KK, that asked about the frankincense moisturiser for papery skin? I've only been using it for three days, but my skin at last feels as if it isn't too small for my face, which i reckon is good. £23.50 from Neal's Yard - quite a big pot, though.

Ned - sorry you have been in again. But on the up, now. Smile

The rads appointment will involve a kind of scan and a bit of tattooing. Very tiny and completely painless. You CANNOT ask for a rose Wink Grin

Very good news about the fly fishing. You go for it, girl!

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 16:24

Agree with mas that should be fine- it used to take me Friday/Saturday to feel ok on rads from fatigue as would build up over the week then I wasnt too bad. So should be fine for weekend. May have the skin reaction but that is more awkward than it is limiting .

NedSchneebly · 17/06/2012 16:32

Aw, come on sometimes, not even a weeny one? I was thinking a little one like this!

Sometimesiwonder · 17/06/2012 16:45

Oh I can't see that for some reason, but no, they are v. unimaginative. Little black dots are the only available option Angry

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 16:54

mine are blue !!

Sometimesiwonder · 17/06/2012 17:01

Ah yes, on closer inspection, so are mine Blush

topsyturner · 17/06/2012 17:01

Mine are red !

NedSchneebly · 17/06/2012 17:04

We always suspected you were a scarlet woman, topsy Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 17:07

red ?

NedSchneebly · 17/06/2012 17:11

Perhaps I could choose? A tasteful purple perhaps?

topsyturner · 17/06/2012 17:31
Grin
Gigondas · 17/06/2012 17:41

Envy so unfair you had red. Mine are black biro squares. One is right where you should have a tramp stamp so maybe I should convert it?

OP posts:
Figgyroll · 17/06/2012 19:03

I found the tattooing quite painful even if it did only last a teeny fraction of a nanosecond. I'd definitely NOT want to convert them. In my case, they just look like a freckle.

Ned, glad to hear you were let out for good behaviour. Smile Great news about the fly fishing weekend, something to look forward to is always lovely.

Topsy, grrrr about DH not being in a good mood. Leave him alone to wallow a bit.

Gigs, your nanny is taking liberties. As if you don't have enough to worry about, you could do without all her shenanigans.

Interesting reading how you all chose your names. Can you guess why I chose mine?

It's been a glorious day here, sunny but not too windy. I've got loads done in the garden - pruning mainly - and think a trip to the tip will be on the cards some time in the week.

smee · 17/06/2012 19:03

Mine are black too Gig. Trust Topsy to have red. Envy

Ned, hooray for not being kept in. They always seem to get it right for the last one. Grin

Sometimes, most impressed by swim. I think if you don't push it, it's probably okay.

My user name's 'It's me' said quickly and with a glass of wine or two inside...

DS has hay fever - he must react to the same pollen as me. He is useless at all things medical, so poor kid was refusing eye drops and looked horribly pink eyed and sore. In the end I persuaded him, so am hoping they work quickly.

smee · 17/06/2012 19:04

Ooh, x-posted Figgy, so am waving. Smile

Gig missed your post on Nanny somehow. Am growling at her on your behalf. Last thing you need. Hmm

Meant to add, DH got a jar of double strength marmite for Father's Day. Grin

Figgyroll · 17/06/2012 19:18

Double strength Marmite!!!!!! Wow, I'm impressed Smee. Grin Poor DS, fingers are crossed for the drops doing their job in double quick time.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2012 19:20

poor junior smee Sad
I always thought your name was from Peter Pan...
