The first episode was last Wednesday topsy. I feel that having watched The Killing and The Bridge I am pretty much fluent in Scandinavianish Grin

Wine would definitely help the scratching, I feel as if I've got beasties living in my hair because the nerves keep firing off ( I may also have beasties in my hair, one doesn't necessarily preclude the other Grin)

NedSchneebly · 16/06/2012 19:53

Found you too! Hope everyone OK this evening. . .

After feeling a bit more positive, I now feel crap, and am not holding out much hope for staying out of hospital again. It's like it was before - headache and very sore back, and feeling wobbly. Sad Will obviously love to be proved wrong, and then everyone can come and laugh at me for being melodramatic. . .

Sorry to not post more - uncomfy to sit at the computer. Will try to update later.

jchocchip · 16/06/2012 20:01

smee I've seen the picture and I'm none the wiser!!! LOL red, white or blue may have been more appropriate!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2012 20:03

smee that is very very funny - if a little obscure - made me and dh laugh (he was looking over my shoulder)
Poor, poor kk -shingles aren't much fun at all, and so sorry it's delayed your visit to Dorset. ned you too- poor love- fingers crossed that you feel better and don't have to go to hosp.
topsy can recommend SpecSavers -I did feel a bit guilty handing over my opticians prescription but I will be going to them for my contact lens check ups and I pay a monthly thing to be on their care programme-even with that SS is cheaper and with the exciting free pair.
kk sending you special love and thoughts for father's day as am sure you'll be thinking of your dad. xxxxx

smee · 16/06/2012 21:06

For those who didn't get it, I'm a pea in a pod. Not even a v.good one. How that related to the Queen's Silver Jubilee I haven't a clue. Grin

Elibean · 16/06/2012 21:31

Smeeeheeheehee!! Was that back in the golden days of that Birds Eye advert, by any chance?! Grin Thank you for letting me peek. And in gratitude, I shall add that you were a very cute kid (in spite of the costume).

Kurri, I nit combed when I first had shingles Blush and found lots of weird little bumps on my head. Cold packs helped a little, iirc. A friend of mine got shingles during her chemo (one of the chronic leukaemias) and then had it again once a year later - never had it since. Apparently, that's quite common, something to do with immune system not having responded fully during chemo so then can come back. So take heart: your immune system should give it a good kicking this time!

Topsy, sorry to hear you're viral too - sending virus-busting-vibes across the Irish Sea to blast the cold away by Monday Smile xx

passivehoovering · 16/06/2012 21:36

I just want to blurt...

I think I might have secondary skin cancer, following breast cancer 3 years ago. Dd is 3 and I will be 40 in a few days. I should have had an appointment on my 40 th birthday but I got hospital to change it. It may be fine and nothing. But the original cancer was supposed to be nothing too, and xm now two mastectomy s and radiotherapy further down the line.

Sigh. I just feel a bit sad

topsyturner · 16/06/2012 21:57

Hello Passive and welcome .
What makes you think you have skin secondaries ?
Are you still under treatment ?

I'm sorry you are going through this , but feel free to blurt anything at all on this board .
It's what we do !

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2012 22:04

passive welcome and blurt away...as topsy said-why do you think you might have secondaries ?

passivehoovering · 16/06/2012 22:06

Funny skin on the breast that had the cancer, the one that had the radiotherapy. I got an appointment at the one stop breast clinic and surgeon said he didn't want to biopsy as I have very thin skin and very little fat in the area, he is concerned that a biopsy would puncture my implant. I was told to come backbin a month and to hope the skin would have sorted itself out. It hasn't, but area has changed. I was due a nipple re construction but that gas been cancelled till we know more.

I just thinkbi must have because it really didn't look good for me when dd was a baby. I thought I was going to die. But at least ben she wouldn't have known me at all, it seems so unfair but just the sort of thing that would happen

passivehoovering · 16/06/2012 22:08

Sorry for typos. iPhone, fat fingers and crying. Going to have a nice cuppa and go back to pretending it is all, all right. Friends don' t really want to know the truth of cancer.

topsyturner · 16/06/2012 22:30

What are the docs planning to do to find out what is going on Passive ?
Feel free to have a weep on here , it's a safe place .

passivehoovering · 16/06/2012 22:43

It's all a bit of an unknown as my fab surgeon has left and this is the first time with new one. So it seems it is 1) wait and hope it goes away and therefore isn't cancer 2) I'd it doesn't go away do a biopsy with the very real risk of deflating me/ causing infection.

Arse, arse, arse to always wondering if the next thing is the last thing. Anyhow thanks for welcoming me and I am giving a round if virtual hugs

jchocchip · 16/06/2012 22:45

Oh heck passive what a worrying time for you. Waiting for tests and results is horrible. Sending +ve vibes to you.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2012 23:01

stick with us passive -we'll see you through it x

Smee no rads planned possibly chemo but might get away without if cells all grade 1 and lymph clear...here's hoping!

Baskets found Maggies last week. Was just lovely to find a place for a cuppa that didn't feel like a hospital. Also borrowed some great books for the girls.

ANother bbq planned tomorrow...here's hoping the rain stops.

sleep well x

MJennieJ · 16/06/2012 23:33

hug to passive...what a pooh pants knicker face....hoping that you get some clarity soon.

Figgyroll · 17/06/2012 00:16

Evening all.

Passive, welcome, and blurt away as much as you like, we'll listen and hold your hand.

Smee, I got it straight away. It made me laugh out loud - DH gave me an odd look. Smile Can't see a connection at all but at least you were probably the only one.

Sorry about the shingles, KK. Ouch. It seems like you got it seen to early so hopefully horse pills will stop it in it's tracks. Shame about cancelling your trip but hopefully you will feel okay in a few days. Let DH spoil you in the meantime.

Oh dear Ned, I hope you start feeling better soon - keep taking your temp just in case.

Glad you love your new specs, MAS. I'm a great fan of Speccysavers.

Just got in from a fun night out with friends and their hubbies. Such a giggle!!!

Gigondas · 17/06/2012 08:05

Hi all- am posting with swish new short hair and having purchased a v nice wig (I have quite fine hair so actually looks more realistic than I thought).

Topsy your post got me all emotional too but also helped me a lot with my wobbles. How is the cold going? Do I need to add more to fbs to help feed it? Re growth I know how much that sends me insane but I doubt from what scan showed last time spreading that quick - I asked my onc about this and I think If they had been concerned they would have got on with it -not let you have the op.

Thanks for all Nice thoughts .

Passive sorry you are here but welcome .

Ned- how are you? Hoping that good night so are feeling less yuck and can avoid a trip in.

Mas love the new glasses- I have on order some new big sunglasses but had opposite experience. Local opticians actually cheaper than specsavers.
Sorry to kurri

Waves to j, baskets , Jenny and anyone else?

I am being summoned to watch mamma Mia yet again by big gig- at least hospital will give me a break from that Wink

KurriKurri · 17/06/2012 12:10

Quick hello to everyone,

welcome to Passive, - sorry you are feeling so anxious at the moment Sad - I think any new scare brings back all the emotions from the first time round, so you are bound to be feeling scared. Hopefully you will get some answers soon, meanwhile stick with us and let us give you lots of support and

Gig - new haircut and wig sound very swish, I'm sure you look fab Smile

Glad you had a good Night Figgy - sounds fun, and jennie enjoy your bbq, - Maggie's sounds like a good place, - I go to something similar in my area and it has been a Godsend - so nice to have somewhere to go that isn't hospital!

Shingles still tingles (see what I did there Grin) but not as bad as it could be atm, so hoping the horse pills have knocked it for six.

Happy Father's day to all the Dad's we know in our lives, and to those that are sadly missed but fondly remembered today. xx

smee · 17/06/2012 12:29

Hi Passive, sorry you're here. What a sod it's so tricky for them to do a biopsy. Must be horrid waiting. Definitely stick with us. x

Smile at Gig's swishy new hair. Hope you swished it to Mama Mia..

Topsy, are you better today?

You too, Ned - do you feel a bit brighter?

Kurri, sounds like you got it early if it's not so bad.. Fingers crossed for that.

MJennie, hope you get away without chemo. When's your next appt?

Nowt to say here. DS and I have been trying to nail his times tables, as apparently he has some big test next week. He's managed somehow to forget the 3's and 4's, but knows the 6 & 7's. We've been playing basket ball, with a question for every hoop got. v.boring otherwise. Quite sunny here. Hope it is for all of you. Smile

graciesmall09 · 17/06/2012 13:05

Hugs to kurri and her tingly shingles. It seems to be doing the rounds here as a couple off at DH work and chicken pox is rife at the school and nursery.

topsy hope the dreaded cold is sent packing with all the fbs and wishing you lots of luck tomorrow and your pre-chemo appointment.

passive really hope it proves to be nothing but stick with us and we will see you through it.

Right have to go as off to in-laws for lunch and everyone is waiting for me. Haven't really the inclination as a very late night last night with some friends it was 3 am before I got to bed. waves to everyone else, will catch up later.

amberlight · 17/06/2012 14:20

Passive, hi from me too...ready to do some hand-holding for you or anyone else that needs it. Yes, it's hard to know what it feels like, for people who haven't been through any of this.

topsyturner · 17/06/2012 14:24

Any pics Gigs ? Of the swishy new hair ?
Oh and I saw a bottle of wine called Gigondas the other day , I am presuming that's how you got your name ?
Actually that's an idea for a thread , how we all got our user names ?

Thanks for all the cold busting positive thoughts , it's still here . But I have decided it will be gone for tomorrow .

Anyone else with appointments tomorrow ? Is it Tuesday you go in Gigs ?

Granny away on her hols for 3 Sunday's , so we had to fend for ourselves lunch wise Grin
I made lamb cutlets , roast potatoes and sweet corn .

DH seems to be in a bad mood . Not sure why . Prob because the world didn't stop turning for him for Fathers Day !
DD made him a card and drew and painted a picture of him .
DS drew a caricature of him .
I got him a card too .
And still he didn't seem happy .

I'm not very sympathetic , if there's a problem , tell me .
Passive aggressive grumps do not work on me !
