Crumbs GDG/Jools, quite a weekend for you
Hope your ds1 continues to make a good recovery, GDG, and so good to hear your dd is on the mend as well CD

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 13:29

dgs has to stay in for a few more days

Aero · 20/02/2006 13:37

Blimey GDG. I've been wondering how your ds was as his symptoms sounded familiar to ds's. Poor wee man. This is what happened to us when ds1 first has the dreaded pneumonia - at least two trips to GP (locum) and being told it's nothing to worry about before finally getting appropriate treatment when he became seriously unwell and had breathing difficulties. Parents often know when their child is truly unwell and as he's been admitted, it must have become fairly serious. You poor things. I hope he recovers quickly.

CountessDracula · 20/02/2006 14:53

Jools/GDG are you mother and daughter?

Poor thing having to stay in a few days I think we were lucky with the speed of diagnosis because of the suspected meningitis, she better still today

Well, ds seems to be getting better though still needing oxygen at the moment. But the consultant wants to test him for cystic fibrosis! I don't believe he has this for one minute - he wouldn't have got to 5 without anyone picking this up surely. This is the first time he's had anything like this - he's never needed antibiotics before and only ever had a snuffle, if that. He's mega active, swims like a fish - I just can't see it.

I think she was looking at his size and he is quite little but he's particularly skinny right now just because he's not been eating.

So, I'm not worrying about cf because I don't think he has it - he's been on the 9th centile since he was about 4 months old!

Potty1 · 20/02/2006 17:02

Glad he's a bit better GDG.

I seem to remember being in our local hospital once and a girl in the opposite bed had pneumonia. She was about 7 I'd say. They tested her for cf and said it was routine for all pneumonia sufferers (at that particular hospital).

I'm sure your ds will be fine.

nutcracker · 20/02/2006 17:09

GDG - I wanted DD tested for CF when she was had pneumonia and they refused. This was a child who had had more chest infections and courses of antibiotics than i could remember.

They said if she had it they would have know way before then (she was nearly 2 at the time)

I honestly wouldn't worry about that at all. As you say it would have been picked up before now.

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 21:28

CD - yes! how have you missed that?!

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 21:29

btw dgs has the oxygen mask off tonight

CountessDracula · 21/02/2006 09:45

hurrah!

I think I did know but forgot Jools

I have been meaning to post on this since the weekend, glad that both childred are progressing.

Such a worrying time motherhood.

GDG · 21/02/2006 12:32

How's dd CD?

Ds1 was off the oxygen all afternoon yesterday but I did the nightshift and he needed it all through the night. Had a rubbish night sleep but I guess it's part of the job description!

He's off oxygen again this morning but they are keeping him in until he doesn't need it at night as well - makes sense.

Have hardly seen dh or the younger two as we are just passing as we swap 'shifts' and when I've got the boys I'm having to rush round doing washing and sorting clean clothes and food parcels for ds1 (not keen on the food on offer at the hospital )

Aero · 21/02/2006 13:28

Oh bless him GDG - I hope it's not long before he's allowed home. At least he's eating again I presume, if he wants food parcels!

CD - Is your dd well on her way to recovery now?

Marina · 21/02/2006 13:30

Good to hear he is making progress GDG and hope Draculette is too

CountessDracula · 22/02/2006 13:19

How is ds GDG?

DD much better I have taken her to nursery for a couple of hours to see how she fares. She was so happy to see her friends!

Just seen this - "Thank god is Pneumonia" is exactly the reaction we had with DS1 a couple of years ago. Horribly, horribly scarey. Glad your DD is fine!

JoolsToo · 22/02/2006 18:22

dgs in for a another night - his SATS are still not quite there for night-time

foxinsocks · 22/02/2006 18:29

what a worry jools. Poor lad has been in there a while now. Glad they aren't letting him go till he's better though but poor GDG - it's such a strain when they are in hosp.

CountessDracula · 22/02/2006 18:31

oh no so sorry to hear that

GDG · 22/02/2006 18:32

Hello - thanks for all your kind wishes. Ds much better - he ate quite a lot of lunch today and dh was just starting on his tea when I left. I've caught some horrible lurgy now so my lovely dh has taken on the nightshift at the hospital again - I get to stay home with my brother with a chinese take away and the first episode of, the long awaited, Apprentice

Fingers crossed ds will be out tomorrow. Dh trying to decide whether to take his time as holiday or unpaid leave. Hmmmm - neither very tempting!

SoupDragon · 23/02/2006 14:22

hope he's better soon, GDG! didn't notice you were going through this too. bl@@dy scarey isn't it?

CountessDracula · 23/02/2006 16:36

is he coming out today?
