here we are- how did that happen ?

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 27/03/2012 15:00

You can pay in installments Smee Grin

Yes to capes - excellent addition (long and flowing if possible - can you tell I've veered slightly from the original idea of being silent and invisible, to OTT and camp-as-all-get-out Grin)

topsyturner · 27/03/2012 15:07

I have a selection of false moustaches ? (don't ask) Grin

KurriKurri · 27/03/2012 15:20

I'm intrigued topsy ConfusedGrin

We have some Groucho Marx glasses/false noses/moustaches things which we wear at birthdays and Christmas because I force people to wear them

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/03/2012 15:30

I have a cat mask I'm sure and a feathery beaked thing ds and I made (trying to make Venetian masks in yr 4)...
figgy I do get on well with MIL - it's more me just hating being out of my own space. SIL does all MILs laundry (SIL's choice-she told mil she'd take over) but makes a real hoo ha over doing the guest laundry and to compromise we bring our own towels- MIL thinks we shouldn't-but SIL is in charge.

Anyone want a cool orange ice lolly from M&S ?

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 27/03/2012 16:14

Cool ice lolly for me please MAS! Will definitely help my sore mouth. . .

Can I be in on the cerne Abbas design party raid too? I have no balaclava to offer, but do have a very camp academic gown I could swoosh about in?

Mouth bit better after doing salt water and soluble aspirin drowning gargling thing. Thanks for advice!

I have the largest arse here and will happily do shift on the box. Bugger to paranoia indeed.

I find I am more in the mood to spend since dx. Not like car-type spending (go for it sometimes!) but frivolous things. I bought a beautiful pale green leather shoulder bag in white stuff today - £50 - I don't need it, but I like it and it is smaller than my cavernous Cath kidston one which you could lose a small child in, so has a different purpose Hmm that's my reason and I am sticking to it! Before dx I wouldn't have spent that much on a bag that I don't really need. It is very nice though. . . .

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/03/2012 17:09

sounds wonderful ned and why not ! I do spend time justifying purchases and I do tend to comfort buy Grin But if it's pleasing and makes you feel good, buy it !

Am waiting for ds to get back from choir/celebration of success thing-choir is having longer and longer rehearsals - one on Thursday from 3.15 to 6.30 !!

OneInEight · 27/03/2012 17:32

Well the good news is the echo was fine. Got back though to find dh and ds2 at home because he had refused to go into school!!! I think he is being teased but he is finding it really difficult to tell us what is happening and unfortunately it is coming out in bolshiness instead. We are going in to school to try and sort it out tomorrow. Because we had problems with ds1 earlier in the year the school have decided its all connected to the bc diagnosis - I don't think this time it is because the timing is all wrong - I hate to see him so miserable and wish I could help. I don't know about the boys needing a holiday but I definetly do!!!

amberlight · 27/03/2012 17:44

Ned, you do not have the largest arse - I can assure you that will be mine Grin. We'll have to take it in turns!

I can assure the good peoples of thread 21 that my long walkings are probably a sign that I should be in the rubber room too. Thinking about it, I was a long way from civilisation. But dh was with me and might have remembered how to get help (depends how panicked he was Grin )

KK, take your time, and get your confidence slowly with the driving thing. Took me 5 years to feel confident enough to take the test (stopped learning a few times but it's honestly the best thing I've ever done (barring getting wed, having ds and beating cancer thus far). Try an automatic if you are getting too baffled by gear changes. They're brilliant.

SparkleRainbow · 27/03/2012 18:10

OneinEight - am so glad the echo was fine...such a relief. I am sorry to hear about your ds though. I do hope the school are open minded and not pre judging what is going on for him. I will have my fngers crossed for you.

Sometimes - good luck for you with parents evening too! and you too smee for later in the week. We must have had ours early cos it was ages ago!!!! School think ds is going to be a physicist/mad scientist/ astrophysicist...yep they got him about right.

At the moment ds is trying to persuade me to buy an iphone, or ipad touch so he can download the skyview app.....bit obsessive my son, and my mum is egging him on...gave me some claptrap reasoned argument about how if he was like Jacquline duPre (sp?) I would fork out more for a decent cello, so I should embrace his geekiness and fork out for technology.

Mum bought her flat today, all completed. She just has to finalise the sale of her house (which is under offer in complete chain, so should move) then she can down size from her rambling 6 bedroom Victorian semi (semi it is but it doesn't do it justice), to her little new little flat, which she is going to get remodelled and kitted out! Apparently.......

Topsy...... moustaches....really.......Hmm!!!!!!!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/03/2012 18:11

oh oneineight poor ds Sad such a worry-really hope it can be sorted- a big hug for you lovey xxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/03/2012 18:13

oh and v good news about the echo Smile
Well done to your mum sparkle
Ds is back and a bit grumpy...

OP posts:
thegreylady · 27/03/2012 18:19

I am still here and desperately trying to keep up with everyone. We are going to Northumberland on Saturday-for a week!I bet it flippin' snows!Cantt find a long range forecast for the area.

thegreylady · 27/03/2012 18:19

Can't

SparkleRainbow · 27/03/2012 18:21

Sparkle celebrates because she has lost 6 lbs although recognises that this is of little use for sitting on the paranoia box, although still quite substantial enough to get the job done.

Did my time on the wii today, jogged 2 km....I think.

SparkleRainbow · 27/03/2012 18:23

xpost greylady and MAS

Mas Have a missed something abiut why ds should be grumpy, or is it just normal teenage angst?

Greylady - maybe not be as sunny and warm as this week, but surely not snow? !!

smee · 27/03/2012 18:56

for you grey lady. Smile

Eight, that's great about your echo then. Must be a relief. Sorry to hear about your poor son. So grim when they're miserable in every way. Hope school is good and intuitive about it all, rather than just attach it all to BC.

Ned bag sounds fab - you need it, honestly you do. Glad to hear mouth a bit better too. Maybe they're connected.? Grin

Sparkle, your DS sounds fab. Wonder whether they're all right. I think mine's going to be a drop out artist like his dad. I quite like that though, so that's okay. Grin

I am twirling my moustache, cape ready. When's the mission start? Grin

Figgyroll · 27/03/2012 19:32

Eight, yay for good news re your echo but am sorry to hear your DS is finding things tough at school at the moment. I hope they treat him fairly and listen to what he has to say, if he feels like opening up to them.

Hi Amber. I'll join you in the rubber room I think. I've lost my marbles - forgotten loads of stuff today - and a spell in solitary confinement might make me focus.

Greylady, I'm sure it won't snow? Will it? No, I don't think so (but who can tell in this country). Just take snowsuits and boots along with shorts and sandalls then you'll be well prepared.

Ned, love the sound of your bag. I'm very staid when it comes to bags and shoes - they have to be matching colours. You'll never find me with brown shoes/black bag and vice versa. It's my mum's fault, she instilled in me that shoes and bags MUST be the same colour. So a gorgeous green bag would be out of the question unless I could find shoes in exactly the same shade of green.

Sparkle, good to hear about mum's flat. That is going to be some down-size!!!! How will she fare, clearing out her possessions and choosing a few much-loved items?

I took our dog for a walk earlier which left me a bit wibbly legged and out of breath so am debating whether or not to go into work tomorrow. There was an excellent article in the Mail today about how we (British public) have lost the art of convalescence and rush back to work too soon.

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 21:02

Figgy - my mum was saying same thing.

Lots of luck and candles for Gracie tomorrow

Am now addicted to draw something- like words with friends for the illiterate.

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 21:03

And Ned Envy re bag. Hard to keep up here .

I will Try and post when I can tomorrow

graciesmall09 · 27/03/2012 21:07

Eight Delighted your echo was clear, sure you are really relieved. Thinking of your poor son. I hope the school deal with it quickly if he is being teased in school.

greylady sending warm and sunny vibes for the weekend.

Anyone else looking face masks for the raid - Next have Royal family masks, absolute steal at £3.00. :o

graciesmall09 · 27/03/2012 21:08

Crosspost - Thank you for wishing me well tomorrow. I am taking all day off so DH has promised me a lie in :o :o

smee · 27/03/2012 21:15

My DS is at home all tomorrow due to the strike. G'ah.. I applaud the politics, but I have so much to do.

Gig will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope it's hugely reassuring and stuffs that Paranoia deep into the box.

Gracie, will be thinking of you too. What time's your appointment? Lie in sounds good. Am glad your DH has taken the time off. He sounds lovely. Smile

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 21:25
