Evening All

Yawn ... very tired thus evening , but can't seem to sleep for some reason .

Watched Lord S'Alan , think a few characters may emerge as the series progresses !

How's your sore bits tonight gig ?
A/Bs kicking in yet ?

Hope all the birthday girls had a good day today .
DD started off ok , then mid morning I got a call from school saying she wasn't well and could I come and get her .
Got there and she was a bit pale and had a tummy ache . Got her home , she changed into pjs and went up to bed .
Then funnily enough , at precisely 2.40 (her getting out time from school) , she miraculously felt better !
Grrrrrrrr !

How's the Great Neighbour Saga going kk ? Have thoroughly cleaned out my brain cavity with bleach after the nude hot tubbing idea ... Grin

Got half a left over choccie cake for the fbs trolley , dig in .

jchocchip · 21/03/2012 23:21

Yay for probably :)

Bit fraught here. dh was in trouble as he phoned when tea was nearly done to say flat battery (again) 4 hours working in the car does this quite often don't leave the radio on! Anyway he redeemed himself a bit running up a hill to get a bus home before it was ruined so dd2 could have birthday cake with us all there. I'd delegated making the cake to dd1 so it had a picture of a tardis and was marbled red inside. scrummy. will put a bit on the fbs trolley. Anyway dh, ds and I went to retrieve the car. Managed to reverse it to turn pointing downhill ish and a good push from the boys started it. Just got in and dh has taken it for a little run to try and put a little more charge into the battery.

Feel I have missed today. Sounds like you had a lovely day lj and glad minitopsy feeling better now.

dd2 really pleased with her present (cheapish laptop) she wasn't expecting it but the others have had their own computers for gcse so its about time. Glad I don't have work first thing think I will try to have a lie in (if the cat lets me)

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2012 07:43

bah about car jane but v glad that dd had a lovely birthday cake and fab present ! Have a nice relaxing day today Smile
I'm off up to the big smoke with dad to see the Hockney exhibition- really hope the queues aren't too long- meeting another friend at the RA then dad says tea at Fortnums !
Hope antibiotics have kicked in gig and hope everyone has a lovely day.

mas have a great day in That There London . Tea at Fortnums ? I'm not jealous , no not me ... Envy Grin

Nothing planned for me today . Might run the Hoover round the house , then again might not Grin

jchocchip · 22/03/2012 08:15

Sounds like a great day planned, mas. Enjoy :)

Hi Topsy. I should scrub the kitchen but I'm enjoying the lie in too much at the mo!

car started so dh went to work for 7. Hope he gets the car home in time for me to go out later...

ribs still achy, I could get a bit paranoid..

LimeJellyforBrains · 22/03/2012 08:37

Have a great day MAS.

Amber - good vibes for your surgeon appointment.

I have an appointment today for an abdominal ultrasound. Reason: things in liver that showed up on original pre-chemo CT scan but resisted all attempts to be looked at by ultrasound. GP noticed had not had repeat attempt after chemo. Appointment at 11.20am, no food or milk for seven hours before, grr Sorry hurried typing off to school!

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 08:51

Morning all.

LimeandJelly so glad you had a wonderful day :)

probably that is wonderful news about your MRI! Many congrats!

Amber that is great news about your BP!!!

gig I agree with KK. about the letters. I guess there IS such athing as TMI! I really hope you're feeling better today. re: Ed Milliband. Do youever see him on breakfast TV? he's not the best spokesman is he?

Sparkle send your email. I know it can feel like 1 against 1000 when you're trying to get your voice heard about this stuff but, when I have to do stuff like this, even if I know I'll almost certainly lose it makes me feel better that at least I've given my tuppence worth. Sorry you're feeling so crappy :(

kk good luck to your Mum at her appointment :)

smee strinking again?! Is this just down your way or all over?

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 09:12

Can anyone help me understand afew things? My doc sent a sample of urine away for urinalysis because there were leukocytes present and she thought that I had a UTI ontop of the tonsilitis and ear infection.

I called for the results this morning and they were normal! So why would I have leukocytes in my urine? Why do my kidneys and urethra nip and why are there (Sorry for TMI) air bubbles coming out of my urethra?

My pelvis, whole back and general uterine area are really sore today. I want this stupid waiting to be over. I want my ultrasound appointment so that I can just be out of this black, answerless void. I hope to Heaven that I don't have cancer. Wahtever it is, I just want them to find and fix it.

The NHS are amazing when they finally give you a diagnosis but it's getting that that's been the problem. Nearly a year I've spent going back and forth with the same symptoms except each time I have a new one to add. Til Monday, all they did was treat the symptoms (assuming them to be related to 4 close childbirths) instead of trying to connect them.

Even if all of this is because of the babies I still need to know what it is and have it fixed. My Gran went to the doctor for years with problems and all they said was "It's the smoking" and she said "Ye, I know what's CAUSING it, I want to know what the problem actually IS!" A year later she was dead from Cancer. I know lt was her fault for smoking but I'm just telling that story because of the parallels with my own treatment. You know, don't tell me what caused the problem with your magic X-ray eyes, just fucking find it and fix it, if you can!

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 09:13

Sorry for spelling. My space bar and 'S' keys are sticking.

topsyturner · 22/03/2012 09:42

lj good luck with the ultra sound today . I am the scan queen ! Have been ct , MRI , ultrasounded , everywhere and many many times .
If they don't get a clear pic , they repeat until they do . Doesn't mean they think there is anything there , just need to get a clear pic .

amber good luck for your appointment today , hope it's all good news .

topsyturner · 22/03/2012 09:44

Autumn sorry I don't have any wise words for you . All I can suggest us you ask to speak to your GP and get them to explain the results .
So sorry you have been waiting so long for answers .

amberlight · 22/03/2012 10:07

Brew for everyone.

Autumn, no wise words from me either, but I know what you mean about just wanting them to fix the stuff, not frighten the whatsits out of us in the process.

Appointment is at 11. Still calm. Will let you know how I get on.
Hugs/hand holding/thoughts for those having medical stuff today and those feeling yuk.

smee · 22/03/2012 10:52

Morning all - another lovely day.

LJ, really hope they reassure you at ultrasound. Am thinking of you. x

Amber you too. Imagine you're arriving right now. I am vibe-ing you the best of consults. Smile

Autumn, I think you're right, as the hardest bit is not knowing. I haven't a clue what those blood results mean. Maybe post a new thread in General Health - there seem to be a lot of medics around who post. Really hope you get you some answers soon - stick with us though. We totally get how scary it all is.

MAS, have a fab time at the Hockney. Am Envy as I just can't seem to get there..

Gig, step away from the envelopes. Seriously bad for your health. Hope your bed survived the Olympics. Grin

Topsy, any news on BCN?! Hope DD doesn't do the same today.

Jane, glad DD got some cake - all sounds a bit fraught though.. How's DS? Is he feeling okay now he's back at home? On ribs, remember that's my thing too and I had clear scan. I was told lots of women suffer aching ribs post treatment, so try not to get too paranoid. LJ and Sometimes (can't remember maybe others) get rib ache too.

Kurri, any neighbour news??

I am having an extraordinary day. DH is going to New York for work next week and in the spirit of life being for living (I'm two years from dx tomorrow..!), have just got flights for me and on my credit card. Not at all sure how repaying that will go, but DH has accommodation all set up, so the flights are the only big expense. Am ridiculously excited... ! Grin

Waving to anyone I've missed. Smile

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 11:14

Good luck with appointment Amber.

Thank you smee OMG NY???!! thta is a lifelong dream of mine. I really, REALLY hope you enjoy yourself!!!

Mas have fun today :)

smee · 22/03/2012 11:22

OMG just about covers it Autumn - should have said 'flights for me and DS'. Have been to NY once years ago with a friend for 3 days and loved it. Do feel incredibly lucky. Grin

amberlight · 22/03/2012 12:26

Yay!!!! Mr Surgeon says I'm OK so far!!! First six monthly checkup done!!!!

amberlight · 22/03/2012 12:27

Smee, wheeeee re the flights!!!

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 12:28

amber fabulous news :)

LimeJellyforBrains · 22/03/2012 12:39

Just wrote a big post and lost it, poo!

In the meantime....Amber! Woohoo! That is brilliant news, well done, I am delighted for you!

Me OK too - nothing untoward could be seen in my liver, although he did struggle to see the right bit again. I suggested I stand up so my liver would 'hang down' with the gravity. Nurse laughed and said "We like patients with a sense of humour". Few mins later con asks me to stand up - not such a daft idea after all then! Grin

He did say "You've got a gallstone". Me: "Oh. What should I do about that?" Him: "Nothing. Forget I said anything." Me: Hmm

And...OMG Smee!! Grin Good for you for 'seizing the day' too! I have never been to New York, or anywhere in the States in fact. How fabaroony it will be - hope the weather is nice like this!

Hope the other birthday girls enjoyed themselves too. Tardis cake sounds fab! Hope car behaves today Jane, and that miniTopsy is OK today x

Forgot to relay a very cute moment: evening before my birthday, boys go 'shopping' with DH then are sneaking about getting scissors and tape etc. DS2 says to dh: "I held my breath so she wouldn't see me" Grin

AutumnSummers · 22/03/2012 12:43

I held my breath so she wouldn't see me! Adorable!!!!!

smee · 22/03/2012 12:56

Ooh good news all round then. Am cartwheeling round for Amber and LJ - flinging fbs onto the trolley. Let's eat them in the sun. Smile

LJ, my GP mentioned gallstones to me about my rib pain. He told me to ignore it unless the pain became excruciating. Hmm

v.cute story about your DS. Small boys are so very sweet. Smile

smee · 22/03/2012 15:17

Did you see the news on Asprin. This seems a good balanced piece. Was wondering what you all think?
scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/2012/03/21/aspirin-and-cancer-the-picture-becomes-clearer/

amberlight · 22/03/2012 15:21

I'm on it already for the heart thingy, so double good news, really. Worth a try! (Er, if safe, given its side effects).

smee · 22/03/2012 15:34

I know, don't fancy stomach problems. I took loads of anti-inflamms for my back before my spine was fused and don't want to add to that in some ways. Still tempted though.

SparkleRainbow · 22/03/2012 16:42

Am severely allergic to asprin and all NSAIDs, so will be avoiding that bit of advice.

Hasn't it been a lovely day. Been to see my mum and sign paperwork for her flat purachse and throw a few things in the skip for her, as she clears out decades or assorted rubbish. Left my mum, sis, Uncle and Aunt doing all the real work, sorting stuff out for her...very stressful for her, so quite glad I had to leave to cross the country to do the school run Grin

Amber - fanastic news!!!!!

LJ - Good news too.

smee - wow you will have such a wonderful time. NYC, wow, haven't been there fore a while, but we used tomlive in upper New York State, about 4 hours drive away in the countryside and it was wonderful!!!! Only place I would ever leave here to go and live, iyswim.
