SparkleRainbow · 21/03/2012 13:51

Just wrote and deleted moany email about how ds and single earner family, with me as carer continued to be unrecognised and supported by budget again....but realsied just have to get on with it, and that quite frankly the attitude is as ds' parents it is out fault he has this genetic condition, and therefore it is our fault we are so hard up. Right an going to shake off this defeatest gloom and have another cup of tea, and some chocolate from the fbs trolley.

smee · 21/03/2012 13:57

Sounds like you deserve some treats. Sad

I like Chuka Umunna too, Kurri. Though Yvette Cooper might be our next great hope.

Gigondas · 21/03/2012 14:04

Sparkle have some FBs.

Am floating voter but frankly labour not enticing with current leadership

SparkleRainbow · 21/03/2012 14:20

Gig I know, I have always voted labour until last election, when I thought they couldn't manage themselves a piss up in a brewery, never mind run a country...don't think they are any better now. What really annoys me is all governments past, present, and I am sure future, pander to the loudest voices/voters rather than the moral good, and take it out on those whos voices are quiet, like 8yr old little boys with life threatening illnesses. If my ds makes it through this period of his life, and achieves his potential, and therefore gets a chance to put back into society, it won't be because of the NHS, or any government recognising his vulnerability and supporting him, it will be because I fought a loud fight, his dad never saw him because he worked all hours, and a few individuals tried to help along the way. How many other potential/future givers to society are cast aside, because their voice doesn't count? Isn't the protection of the weak one of the things we have strived to support in the last century? Sorry will put my political outrage and personal misery away now.

Where is that chocolate?

I have good news. I got in and the doctor said straight away that although something shows up on the MRI, she was pretty sure it's not cancer. She did the ultra sound and said there are a lot of benign changes but also a fibrodema or something that sounded like that. She said she is almost certain that it's fine but has to take a biopsy. So did the biopsy, which wasn't too bad and I will get the results at my scheduled appointment in 2 weeks.

When I mentioned, what if it's something bad, she looked at me and said i'm telling you now that it isn't.

So although not 100% it's as near as dammit. So now just got to look at the surgery, which after this week I think I defintely want as this has been pretty horrendous.

Thank you all so much, you have been bloody wonderful xxxxxxx

amberlight · 21/03/2012 14:26

Probably, yay!!!!!! Grin Have a celebratory Brew !!

smee · 21/03/2012 14:31

Ooh, huge yelps of Yay from me too. Fab news, Probably. Go celebrate.. Smile

KurriKurri · 21/03/2012 14:32

Hooray Probably, - so pleased for you Smile is it too early in the day for Wine? (I don't think so) Grin

Sparkle - you have every right to be politically outraged. Sad

I am trying to get through to the plastic surgery department because I have still had no news about my reconstruction appointment, Dr knob was supposed to have referred me Angry

smee · 21/03/2012 14:41

Sparkle, am hurling slab loads of chocolate on the fb trolley for you. You're more than allowed to rant. Every which way you turn you hit brick walls. It's not just unfair, it's inhumane the way you have to struggle for DS. Sad

Kurri, hope you get some answers.

Have just had a text from school to notify that the teachers are on strike again next Wednesday. Am not against them taking action, but I have heaps of work and can't afford to lose a whole day. Waaah...

KurriKurri · 21/03/2012 14:41

OK - just got through, - no referral has been made. Have left a message with Mr Knobby's secretary. Angry

smee · 21/03/2012 14:55

Angry He really is well named..!

KurriKurri · 21/03/2012 15:08

Ha - she has just phoned me back. The referral has been made ......today Grin what a coincidence that I happened to phone.

Lucky I am the kind of person who doesn't mind badgering, I feel cross on behalf of people who find that sort of thing difficult.

SparkleRainbow · 21/03/2012 15:15

Just leaving on school run...a bit late Blush but have rushed in to grab chocolate off fbs trolley to keep me going there and back!

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/03/2012 15:25

adds a doughnut for sparkle - grrrr
And what a knob is Mr Knobby - very shoddy in my opinion.
probably fabulous and fantastic news !! Wine definitely- really happy for you x

ds home and cheery-said exam was 'fine' - he might be more forthcoming in the car on the way to piano. Also found a small certificate in his bag saying that junior MAS has successfully achieved the Olympic Values Award for excellence - what can that be ? He has a doughnut with sprinkles on and some sushi to celebrate with.

KurriKurri · 21/03/2012 16:43

yay - mum has here appointment for the falls clinic starting next week, - at last! The thing she's most excited about is the 'break for refreshments' half way through Grin

I'm glad T's exam went well MAS, am curious about Olympic Values award- sounds very impressive Smile

Gigondas · 21/03/2012 17:38

Break sounds like what I would like to kurri Smile

Mas clearly the award meant loads to ds given the careful way it was treated Wink

Still feeling bit flu like and sick (not helped I expect as don't feel like eating) - how long do Anti bios take to work?

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/03/2012 17:50

Your mum has her priorities right there, Kurri! How very typical and annoying of Mr Knobby Angry.

Well done MAS Junior on exam and mysterious Olympic Award.

And Super-Yay for Probably!

Have had a lovely birthday starting from two little boys giving me cards, smellies and cuddles this morning, all the way through a day at a local antiques auction (love it), surprise visits from friends, then DH arriving with flowers and very generous amount of vouchers for my favourite clothes shop, and (soon) onto dinner out at our local Prezzo. Smile

Thank you all for your lovely messages too, I am feeling extremely gruntled Smile xx Thanks

Dances (?) off, strewing pieces of assorted cakes (just choose your favourite) on the fbs trolley...

SparkleRainbow · 21/03/2012 17:52

3 to 5 days gig...I do hope you feel better soon.

Kurri - am a little concerned about "break" in falls clinic...sounds serious Wink I am glad she has her appt. Hmm Mr K.....me thinks he has just issued the referral seconds after your phonecall...shouldn't be like this, you are so right ,what about the people who don't feel able to hassle the medical professionals.

MAS like your ds' celebration style!

Probably - this is really good news. I hope you can relax a bit over the next few weeks.

SparkleRainbow · 21/03/2012 17:53

LJ I missed saying happy birthday...I am so sorry. I am glad you have had a lovely day. Can I offer you Wine and Thanks to make up for my tardiness? Blush

Gigondas · 21/03/2012 18:05

Yes lj happy birthday and have a great evening.

Kurri - mr k inability to refer without a good kicking reminding not unusual. And agree wtf to those who dont chase up.

I really should know better but opened another oncologist letter. Wasn't actually saying anything new (just telling Gp rads can start) but why they have to put all the science shite in incl all the bits about spine spots (now ok) and lung nodules I don't know. Like I need to see this or it's not on
Record

KurriKurri · 21/03/2012 18:25

Have a lovely evening LJ, - sounds like you had a perfect daySmile

AB's should start working soon Gig. - I know what you mean about hospital letters - they still freak me out, even when I know what's going to be in them and even it's nothing to do with my cancer. (Our hospital letters are very recognisable by their envelopes).

Can you get your DH to diffuse them and just pass on appointment info? Not sure why you are being sent all the stuff they are sending to your GP, - you don't need that.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/03/2012 18:29

try not to be upset by onc. letter gig - things written down in an official manner always seem to be scarier.
Ds has no idea what his certificate is for.
kk glad your mum has her appointment - Grin at the break for refreshments
Birthday sounds lovely LJ have a good time at the Prezzo !
Not long until Lord SR'alan is on !! very excited here.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 21/03/2012 18:38

Oh yes sr'Alan and midsomer murders.Grin

You are right-dh should read them. Also they do a mini case history so contains everything incl stuff now ruled out. You must tape my hands up if I open them
Again.

I also need to eat something as that is most definitely not helping

The Olympics has unfortunately moved to
Our bed and involves eating biscuits so better go supervise before I end up in crumbs when go to bed.
