Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/03/2012 11:00

well done 14k -that all sounds a good plan- you aren't being a hypochondriac- just sensible Smile
amber gah, what a choice - try to be easier on yourself-- you have a hugely demanding job and responsibilities and are always on the go.
smee voice ok, just a bit creaky Grin

l4k · 05/03/2012 13:22

Thanks ladies, have been to gp's.She said she could clearly feel the lump, and that it could be cystic but needs checking out so will refer me to clinic.Which is just what i'd thought she'd say.She is really nice,I'm lucky to have her as a gp.
Still feeling ok about it,haven't told anyone in rl (apart from doctor)Just hope the appointment isn't too long.
I'll come and tell you when I get the letter if you don't mind.Smile

and why the creaky voice?

NedSchneebly · 05/03/2012 13:22

smee Hair not significantly on the move, but few odd strands coming loose, so I guess it won't be long. Hair "elsewhere" on the move too Blush

14k def good plan to get yourself checked. I'm sure DH would want to support you, and you'll feel better when you know what's what and you can talk to him about it.

amber not much of a choice, is it? Hope you can get some answers from your specialist.

Have had a productive morning - sorted washing and sewn name tapes into DSs new school trousers - not sure how he's managed to grow without me noticing. . . Smile

Hope everyone else having an OK day- sun shining here, so think a walk to the post box in order later.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/03/2012 13:58

hopeyou aren't waiting too long 14k - glad GP is nice, always helps.
Voice is creaky as have had pesky cough and cold.
Met the lady I used to travel in hospital car to rads with in town- she is doing well, thank goodness- she is called Glinda which makes me think of a witch or something.

KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 14:10

Afternoon all, - just been to yoga, and had blood test on the way home for thyroid (should have had it on friday but got muddled)

Stars - lovely to see yo and thanks for link - I'll check it out shortly Smile - sorry you are having a tough time though, - but you have had such a long time of feeling unwell, it must be very miserable and frustrating. I'd give yourself a chance to feel fed up about the whole business - if you think it might help, - you don't have to pretend to be cheerful all the time.

14k - it's good you have been referred - at least it will put your mind at rest, but stick with us so we can help with the waiting Smile

amber Sad - there never seem to be any of the kind of choices where one thing is horrible and the other one delightful do there? {grrr}

Ned - my hair came adrift just after my second chemo, which was two weeks after my first (so not sure if it is related to cycle or time - mine came off pretty much all in one, just so you are forewarned in case yours does the same thing)

LJ - isn't it weird how we seem to get through the big stuff and somehow hold it together, then a seemingly small thing can make us burst into tears - am sure I would have cried too at a the bump. BUt everyone safe and sound is the main thing Smile Well done to DS1 for his clarinet playing - bet he looked sweet in his bow tie Smile

skyblue - welcome again from me, - I'm going to finish my cuppa and then have a look for those book titles. I'll post them on your other thread, because I think someone else there said they'd like them too Smile - hope you are feeling OK this morning, and it helped you to talk about how you were feeling last night. Putting it all down can be very cathartic I find, and - the feelings you have described, I have actually in the past written very similar myself in a notebook when I needed to get it out, - just so you know you're not on your own Smile

Hi to MAS, Smee and OneInEight - hope you are all OK today.

I also have visions of old ladies hurling themselves at each other - last one standing is the winner! Grin

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 14:11

sorry - mammoth post again Blush

OP posts:
Gigondas · 05/03/2012 14:14

Amber good that have appt but sorry you are suffering . 14k - do let us know when you hear.

Mas - I would think exactly same re Glinda Grin

Smee- funny you should say that but are off to our holiday home in france this weekend . It's small and cosy and had same effect on midi gig (can't use maxi gig as she is a strapping great 19 year old) when she was a baby. Although putting mini in cot last night was loads better as only woke for one feed and settled quickly so result.

I have been most productive today as took girls to pottery cafe to do gifts for mothers day/Grandad birthday. Mas would shudder to see my efforts (dd lost interest) but fortunately they look passable as a child's work.

Hope Holsten first day going ok.

Ned- am impressed at name tags . I try to avoid sewing into anything but coats.

Gigondas · 05/03/2012 14:16

Oh and lj - sorry about car bump and I would have cried too . Waves at kurri as cross posted .

amberlight · 05/03/2012 15:00

14k, 9 out of 10 lumps are harmless, so fingers crossed that your is something quite ordinary. Yes, let us know what's going on...we all know what it's like to be in the waiting and panicking bit.

KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 15:22

Hi Gig Smile - weekend in France will be fun, - and something nice for you to look forward to, to help recuperate.

Disaster here in Kurrisville. DD's bedroom ceiling has just sprung a massive leak - it is raining so heavily here. So we are running up and down with buckets. Unfortunately she hadn't been upstairs for a while, and it had managed to soak loads of her stuff. I've got lots of her books drying in the airing cupboard and on the radiators. Bugger. Bugger.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 05/03/2012 15:25

Oh no kurri- is it a flat roof? Used to have nightmare with flat roof that leaked over bay window in old house. Hope dd stuff dried out.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/03/2012 15:52

oh no kk Sad what a pain

KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 15:52

Her bedroom's in the roof Gig - we have a chalet bungalow - so there is a built in window which has a flat roof. We've managed to get stuff out of the way - by shoving it into DS's old room, but she can't sleep in there until its sorted, in case the ceiling comes down. DH is coming home soon to have a look.
Why does everything decide to fall to pieces when you are strapped for cash? - Sod's law maybe? Grin

OP posts:
LimeJellyforBrains · 05/03/2012 16:26

Oh no Kurri - sod's law indeed! Maybe it might be something that's covered by buildings insurance? [hopeful] We had a leaking downpipe once that caused damp and ruined decoration in two rooms. Insurance covered drying out, making good and redecoration of the two rooms, plus of course replacing the pipe. In that case it was well worth paying the excess and, presumably, increased premiums, but I know not always.

and What a lachrymose lot we are!

NedSchneebly · 05/03/2012 17:37

Oh kurri what a nightmare! Sounds like kurrisville has really taken a battering, weather wise. Hope you can get it sorted out. Definitely worth a conversation with insurance company?, I would have thought?

Tried to be good and make a "proper" appointment with GP to talk about ADs, but not one available until 20th March Confused My surgery does walk in "emergency" clinics every morning and afternoon, where you just turn up and wait for your turn, usually 2 docs on duty, so no guarantee who you'll see. I guess it just means that "proper" appointments are significantly reduced, hence 2 week wait. Walk ins are great for chest infection that day, but it feels a bit wrong to turn up and use emergency clinic time for something like ADs. The other option is to email the nice GP who gave me his email address for questions etc when I w diagnosed, and see if he can squeeze me in sometime. . .

holsten how was your day? Hope it was a positive start back?

lime I would definitely have cried too, with a car bump. Hope you are Ok and can get it sorted!

gig weekend in France sounds great- am very Envy ! Sure little gigs will love it.

Waving to amber, stars, 14k, skyblue, smee, eight, anyone else lurking! BIg hugs all round x x x x

NedSchneebly · 05/03/2012 17:44

Waving to MAS too - didn't want you to feel left out!

Got v itchy head. . .

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/03/2012 18:14

I'd email the nice GP ned
I remember my bedroom ceiling collapsing when I was a girl- the cold tank was above my room and the ballcock would often stick making it overflow- out of the overflow pipe but also down my wall -happened fairly frequently so was used to the drill- run the cold taps and turn the water off at the mains !! The ceiling falling in gave me shock of my life and I spent the night at a friends (something I never did normally as I was such a home bird)
Am off on my cat injecting duties...

skybluechair · 05/03/2012 18:23

Waving back to everyone - am I too late for a cuppa (or viola as my iPhone's decided I meant..)??

Kurri that sounds rubbish. Hope it gets sorted soon. Docs appointment are a pain aren't they Ned? I tried to get one in advance last week and the soonest I could book in other than calling on the day was 3 weeks. Three weeks!! That's a long time.

And gig a trip to France sounds idyllic right now..

Dh's off to the us of a tomorrow for the rest of the week with work which is lonely (and means I have to get up for DD at 3am!).

Otherwise all good. Feeling a bit more positive today - starting to consider the career change I was going to organise pre-diagnosis again..:)

Xx

KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 18:23

Well DH has fixed up a sort of make shift repair - which seemed to involve him hanging out of the upstairs window with DD holding onto his feet Shock - Not sure that insurance will cover it, - our building insurance you have to pay the first thousand pounds yourself - don't think its a big enough job to make it worth it.

Sorry about the itchy head Ned - that might be your hair, - it's weird when it happens, I know you are well prepared and know its coming, but its still a bit of a shock. So hang in there Smile and you've got yourself some nice hats and scarves all ready, so you'll be fine Smile

LJ - I cry at the oddest things - much more so since Dad died. But other stuff which it might be more usual to struggle with I cope well - so I've no idea what's going on. Probably just another sign that I'm losing my marbles! Grin

DH is bringing me an old steam powered laptop home from work tomorrow, as this one is really on it's very last legs.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 18:25

x-posted skyblue going to get those book titles for you now. Slight delay due to ceiling falling down Grin

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 18:26

It's great you are feeling more positive, and thinking about your career - good for you Smile

OP posts:
holstenlips · 05/03/2012 18:27

Hello all, sorry to hear of trials and tribulations within our clan.
I've been to work today , my boss has to be the most understanding ever! She's given me alternate days only this week...so...I got a day off tomorrow! Result. Was great to be back and see all work chums.
Ned, hope heads not too itchy. You are going through such a big ordeal with amazing tenacity (im not great on big words but I think that means..like a tough little warrior not giving up!)
KK, argh to water damage. One thing that gets my goat is anything house related going wrong.
Gig, I'm 'well jel' of weekend in cosy French cottage. A change of scene will hopefully do u all good.
How many midi/maxi/mini gigs are going with you?
Aww lime, Poor you re car bump. I cry at spilt milk if that helps (hug)
Hiya everyone else, I'm knocking off in case my post vanishes (on phone!) Lots of love to all x

NedSchneebly · 05/03/2012 18:38

Aw shucks holsten thanks Blush Don't always feel very tenacious! Feeling bit better than last week tho.

Sounds like you had a good day. Yay for your lovely boss x x

KurriKurri · 05/03/2012 18:58

Sounds a good day Holsten - well done to understanding boss - that sounds like an idea way to ease yourself back in, and you will feel much better for seeing all your work mates again Smile

Skyblue - have posted on your Relationships thread Smile

OP posts:
smee · 05/03/2012 20:06

Blimey, high drama for Kurri. Am impressed by your DH and DD's repair job. Hope it holds.

Hurls Skyblue a viola. Grin Does your DH go away lots with work? Those long nights are tough alone.

l4k, glad you've got a good GP. Makes all the difference. Stick with us while you wait for the appt. We can distract you with fbs. Smile

Holstein, your boss sounds good. Brilliant that you don't feel wiped out by it all. Don't get too used to the alternate days though. Wink

Gig, v.impressed by your pottery presents and your French retreat sounds perfect. Is it a long haul to get there? I'd imagine two teenies in the car might be a bit of a handful.

Ned, I like the way Holstein describes you!! Hope you're okay with the whole hair thing. Tricky time I think.

Jane, how's your mum now?? Is she okay?

MAS, Grin at Glinda the Witch.

I have just reorganised DS's books - put all his picture books up high as he's reading longer stories and chapter books. Got all nostalgic remembering them all. Smile
