Thanks gigondas. :) was the galactaceole painful? My breast just aches at the moment - even when I'm not touching it :( I'm trying to reassure myself that breast tumours aren't usually painful.

Sometimesiwonder · 13/02/2012 10:29

Ooh there has been quite a bit of good news on here over the weekend -i am so please for all of you with clear margins, fat healthy boobs etc.

ILGC - good to hear from you, you have all been through so much. here's to a better 2012.

I am sending positive thoughts for all those embarking on more treatment - it is a long old road, but you'll be surprised how quickly you get down it. Take heart. Also special good wishes for smee's dad.

Bumbley - my advice is just to get to the doctors and get it checked, worrying is just horrible. Chances are it is fine, and the sooner you know that, the better. But in the meantime - a very warm welcome. Hang with us, we know it's a duff old time until you get answers. x

Lots of work to do here - and it's half term. AGAIN! ALREADY! Shock I'll drop in when I can, otherwise I'll never catch up with all your news Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/02/2012 10:30

Not painful as much as sore (it used to build up to a golf ball sized lump every time they drained milk out of it) . When it was big it was tender to touch so used to avoid it.

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2012 10:40

Just updated on the other thread. I rang back and I don't have an appt yet but I'm on the list of a doctor who I used to go to school with Confused. Feeling a bit self conscious now and worried that if I ask for a different doctor I won't get an appointment today at all :(

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2012 10:41

Thanks for answering Gigondas. I'm now triangle to figure out if this is painful or sore? Confused

Gigondas · 13/02/2012 10:44

Same thing really although I suppose sore is what I would say about something that is ok if you don't touch it (but hard to do if wearing a bra). I suppose the closest thing I can say it was like is when you rub a blister- does that make sense?

I would take appt and not worry about school thing- they will have seen it before .

Gigondas · 13/02/2012 10:45

And if I kept poking at it (i made an early mistake of trying to clear it with a wide toothed comb Hmm) it certainly did hurt

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2012 10:48

Yes, I keep poking at mine too! Probably not the best thing for it! Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 13/02/2012 10:55

A comb? Yikes Shock

Bumbley - take the appointment. He/she will have seen so many sore boobs they'll be so used to it. Honestly, it'll be worth a moment of embarrassment to get the thing over with.

Gigondas · 13/02/2012 10:57

Don't ask sometimes - some of the suggested treatment for blocked duct terrifying Confused

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2012 10:59

I actually used the comb thing for smaller blocked ducts - usually when I was in a warm bath and it did actually help. I think gof ball sized lumps are in a league of their own though! :)

Sorry - should have kept my galactaceole gore stories to myself. Needless to say the home cures plus several doses of anti biotics whose only effect was to upset my tummy weren't as bad as having it aspirated. [this was my good times lucky story when dd1 was newborn so am just building on my horrific times with newborn now to scare dd1 And dd2 Wink).

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2012 11:28

It brings a whole new level to pus porn Gigonadas :)

Appointment is for 3 this afternoon. She was lovely on the phone. I'm just going to get on with it. It's just a breast after all! Still wish they weren't lopsided at the moment though Confused

Sometimesiwonder · 13/02/2012 11:42

Attagirl! Just do it. Fingers firmly crossed here.

topsyturner · 13/02/2012 12:00

Hello Bumbley welcome to the board .
Don't worry about your old school friend being your GP . I once went for a smear test and the practice nurse was having difficulties so she called a doctor in . In walked the father of one of DSs classmates ... Blush

Gig Shock < pukes in mop bucket , takes a seat beside mas and sometimes Grin

Gigondas · 13/02/2012 12:13

Sorry - I will offer chocolate biscuits to fbs trolley for lowering the tone

KurriKurri · 13/02/2012 14:31

Hello Bumbley, and welcome Smile - I'm pleased you've got an appointment, - it's worrying I know, but the less waiting around to know what's what that you have to do, the better IMO. Anyway chances are it will be something totally harmless, but hang around with us while you wait Smile

Gig - I liked the galactaceole story (even though I'd never heard of the condition despite the fact that I am a qualified MD from the University of Holby City Grin) - I quite enjoy a bit of gore Blush [weirdo emoticon]

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today, - but very wise to stay in hospital until you really feel ready to manage at home.

I had to deal with DD slicing her finger with the bread knife yesterday, - she always panics and says 'I can't look, is my finger still there?' - she's a pianist though so some excuse for being a drama queen Grin

Seeds I'm growing, - mainly bedding stuff this year I think, I grow loads of cottage garden type stuff - pansies, verbena, ageratum, gazania, stock, antirrhinum etc. - to fill up my beds and tubs, and most years I try to do two or three new perennial, so the garden is gradually getting filled and maturing. Mostly I just like grubbing about in my greenhouse, and weirdly I really enjoy weeding (which is lucky in our garden!)

topsy - My Doctor's two girls went to the same secondary school as my kids - one was in DS's class, - it is a bit disconcerting having to say 'how are the kids? - oh and by the way can you have a look at my undercarriage' - but he was really great when I got cancer and I think knowing him helped, - he's a nice chap.

MAS - good to get the stitch out - they always start itching after a while I find, - have a nice lunch out Smile

Waves madly at Sometimes - nice to see you, sorry you are bogged down with work, have you got anything planned for half term, or are you too snowed under?

I did yoga for 2 hours this morning - feel very relaxed. Oh and good news - I've been trying very hard with the sensible eating and I've lost 6 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks - not earth shattering I know but a small step in the right direction Smile

topsyturner · 13/02/2012 15:21

And you know what kk ? Even if I ask to see another GP , his partner in the practice is the mother of one of DDs classmates !!!
And DHs dad is a GP too !
Oh and all DHs uncles and cousins are doctors at the hospital I attend . One of the Uncles does the exams for the baby doctors , so it's always a joy when one of them makes the family connection and gets the shakes whilst trying to place an iv ... Grin

My new purple dress from Dotty Ps arrived today . I have just tried it on and I like it muchly !

More Pringles anyone ?

KurriKurri · 13/02/2012 15:29

Can you link to the dress? I'm very nosey Grin

Wow - loads of medics in the family - no-where to hide then Grin

jchocchip · 13/02/2012 15:34

Hi everyone. Morning at work so I am neglecting you! Welcome to bumbley, hope you are getting on ok at the gp.

Well done kk 6.5lbs is a great achievement :)

Sometimesiwonder · 13/02/2012 15:37

SIX pounds in two and a half weeks? SIX??? That's terrific KK, bloody well done

No nothing really planned for me for half term. Have just got an urgent new job in (as of half an hour ago) so no hope of it either. Shame for dd, but I'm quite happy, I have pounds signs where my pupils should be Grin
