This thread is for everyone who wants to stick to their diet, and would like to benefit from public support in doing so.

Rules for participants:

  1. Define your own limits - post them here or keep to yourself, but be clear and specific about which foods are allowed and which ones are not;

  2. Keep your diary - post here on a daily basis what you've eaten, and how this deviates - if it does - from your goals;

  3. Be honest;

  4. 1 month commitment required - which means that even if you have a diet slip, you are still expected to keep posting your daily reports (and hopefully get back on track in the meantime) until at least 1 February;

Feel free to talk about anything health and diet related - especially the difficulty you're facing when trying to change your eating habits - but please be supportive and sensitive to other people's decisions/choices. Negative or judgemental posts about somebody else's ability to keep to their promises strictly not allowed.

Remember - this thread is more about making it happen than talking about it.

Believe in yourself! You're doing this to become a better YOU.

Monday's report:
Breakfast: Oatibix, skimmed milk.
Lunch: Vegan salad.
Dinner: A bit of a disaster here. Plan was: chorizo and lentil casserole. I usually put in half a pack of chorizo, was planning to put in only 1/3. But had a few probs putting the DC to bed and DH thoughtfully decided to get the dinner on the go while I was with them. He put in the whole chorizo! Shock
So damage limitation was that I ate as small a portion as possible and froze about a third of the casserole, but I reckon I still ended up eating more chorizo than usual!
(it was yummy though)

Dinner: smoked salmon, innocent vege pot with green beans
Snacks: (here's where it all goes wrong) 2 packets of snack a jacks, 2 oatabix yoghurt biscuits, 3 chunks of toblerone (DH's chocolate still untouched on top of cupboard but DD2 made fatal error of telling me she didn't like toblerone much, so really I was doing her a favour Blush)

Have been really hungry today so snacking not good but would have been SO much worse if not for having to report here. Now off to watch the Biggest Loser for inspiration.

fluffyanimal · 18/01/2012 11:41

Woolwif, arf at your 'helping' with the Toblerone. No good when you have loads of chocolate in the house, though. I reckon DC's Christmas haul will last till Easter.

Tuesday's report:
Breakfast: Oatibix, skimmed milk
Lunch: Miso soup, vegan salad
Dinner: 1 chicken fajita with salsa (avoided the cream dips).
Snacks: 1 sachet Options hot chocolate - only 40 cals and provided a well-needed chocolate fix; 1 small DC-made shortbread biscuit.

Tilly, I'll check out myfitnesspal, sounds useful. I'd like to know if my healthy choices are in fact lower calorie.

Hello Jolyonsmummy! :)

Glenshee · 19/01/2012 12:15

quorn is a meat substitute, it's a processed food made from fungus. You can buy quorn sausages, quorn burgers, minced quorn etc, and they are suitable for vegetarians.

Had another migraine this morning :(, I am a little concerned that last night's chocolate may have been the trigger. I had to give up coffee because the caffeine triggered them, and there is a little caffeine in chocolate, would be gutted if I couldn't have any at all! Anyway at least it's a good incentive to avoid choc for a week or two, then I'll see what happens when I reintroduce it.

Anyway, today:
Breakfast: shredded wheat
Mid-morning: bowl of cornflakes (post-migraine I always feel hugely hungry)
Lunch: quorn ham bagel, bag of oaty bites
Afternoon (still hungry): huge fruit salad with low-fat yoghurt, breadsticks
Tea: mushroom and cheese omelette, waffles, salad
