This thread is for everyone who wants to stick to their diet, and would like to benefit from public support in doing so.

Rules for participants:

  1. Define your own limits - post them here or keep to yourself, but be clear and specific about which foods are allowed and which ones are not;

  2. Keep your diary - post here on a daily basis what you've eaten, and how this deviates - if it does - from your goals;

  3. Be honest;

  4. 1 month commitment required - which means that even if you have a diet slip, you are still expected to keep posting your daily reports (and hopefully get back on track in the meantime) until at least 1 February;

Feel free to talk about anything health and diet related - especially the difficulty you're facing when trying to change your eating habits - but please be supportive and sensitive to other people's decisions/choices. Negative or judgemental posts about somebody else's ability to keep to their promises strictly not allowed.

Remember - this thread is more about making it happen than talking about it.

Believe in yourself! You're doing this to become a better YOU.

Welcome jolyonsmummy Smile

I went to an exercise class this morning so have been really hungry all day. I've tried to reign it in though !

Brekkie - Smoothie
Lunch - 2 slices of wholegrain toast, 1 slice of ham and a poached egg.
Snack - cup of tea and half a picnic bar
Dinner - Roasted cod with lemon & mint salsa, green lentils and 2 circles of garlic bread

I still feel hungry though

Woolwif · 19/01/2012 21:21

Hello all (including jolyonsmummy)

Don't think I ate enough yesterday after Zumba, I've been starving today and snacked more than I should, I think.

Bfast: grapenuts, raisins, natural yoghurt
Lunch: Innocent Thai veg pot
Dinner: Mexican chicken soup, mange tout
Snacks: 2 packets of snack a jacks, packet go ahead biscuits, 4 chocolate coins (raided the Christmas chocolate stash again)

By the way, I've got a copy of the 'Shred' that I don't want. Tried it a couple of times and wasn't for me. If anyone wants it, PM me and I'll gladly send it to you.

Glenshee · 19/01/2012 21:23

Today's report:
B - barley coffee, porridge with honey
2 cups of green tea
L - sweet and sour chicken with rice
snack - 'Eat Natural' bar
5 glasses of water
T - dumplings with spinach, 3 small pastries with custard
2 cups of tea

Not at all ideal - unnecessary sweet stuff and not enough water. No raw veg. Doh.

I'm loving this thread. Really interesting Grin
Good luck everyone!

fluffyanimal · 20/01/2012 12:38

Hi everyone,

Two days to report.
Wednesday:
B - Oatibix, skimmed milk.
L - Miso Soup, vegan salad
D - 4 slices ham and mushroom pizza. Skinny Cow ice-cream.
Snacks - fresh fruit smoothie, Options hot chocolate.

Thursday:
B - Oatibix, skimmed milk
L - Miso soup, salmon sushi box (that was a bit of an experiment - it was OK, but a bit stodgy and same-y by the end).
D - Small portion of chilli and rice with grated cheese. Fat free yogurt.
Snacks - Options hot chocolate, 1 chunk of Dairy Milk.
Went swimming in the new uni pool too.

So the good news is, that when I weighed myself this morning I have lost 2lb!! HOORAY!! Grin Finally moving in the right direction.

Also, I'm using myfitnesspal.com - thanks Tilly for mentioning it. I can recommend it to anyone, it's really helpful.

Tillyscoutsmum · 20/01/2012 14:36

Yay fluffyanimal - well done ! myfitnesspal.com is really handy.

I'm off out tonight for drinks and a curry. I genuinely can't decide whether to just have a night off completely and have a proper blow out or whether to try and make "healthier" choices, even if it means I don't enjoy the meal quite as much. I strongly suspect that after a couple of alcoholic drinks, my mind may well be made up for me Blush Smile

Woolwif · 20/01/2012 16:01

I'm out for curry tonight too tilly. Am going to try and avoid rice and naan bread but other than that nothing else is off the menu. Weighed myself this morning and have lost 6.5lbs since New Year so figure I deserve it. Am really chuffed and feel so much better (even though I think it's far more indicative of the amount I filled my face with before and over Christmas) :) Will be back to confess tomorrow...

Glenshee · 20/01/2012 21:32

Tilly - if I were you I would just enjoy myself - regardless of whether that's right or wrong :o

Confession time...

Yesterday bfast: grapenuts, actimel, raisins
Lunch: chicken sandwich, snack a jacks
Snack: go ahead biscuit
Dinner: 2 popodoms plus mango chutney, chicken shashlick or was it shishlack? (no sauce so I'm guessing not too bad), spinach, tiny bit of naan but no rice, 3 glasses of red wine

So felt pretty pleased with myself and really full...and then came home and ate half a box of chocolates argh (they were yummy though). So back to eating healthily today and may go on the cross trainer as penance for the chocolates. Big question though, what do I do with the other uneaten half a box?

Tillyscoutsmum · 21/01/2012 08:41

Grin at Woolwif licking your lips and patting your stomach - I have a mental picture of you looking a little bit like the wolf in the 2 little pigs just after he's gobbled up one of the pigs Grin. Fantastic news on the weight loss though !

Today hasn't been great if I'm honest. I've felt a little bit hungover and in need of "stodge"

Brekkie - 1 slice of wholegrain toast with peanut butter and mashed banana
Lunch - Jacket potato with tuna, sweetcorn and natural yog
Dinner - Peppered Beef Grill steak on ciabatta roll with a couple of chips (literally about 6 or 7). We also took the dc's out for tea and I picked at a couple of their chips Blush

I feel stuffed and lethargic and generally a bit fed up. I think the novelty is wearing off a bit Sad. Oh well, hopefully I can get a decent night's sleep and be back on form tomorrow.

vanfurgston · 22/01/2012 18:10

Dinner - Salad with lentils and smoked mackerel

Weigh in tomorrow. I strongly suspect my weight loss has come to a bit of a standstill Sad Just hope I haven't gained Shock. My shred dvd has been dispatched so I am hoping it will be here tomorrow.

Well done vanfurgston :)

Couple of days to update for me...feel myself falling off the straight and narrow and am out for dinner 4 times in the next week plus a lunchtime award ceremony so planning on trying to up my exercise levels to compensate.

Yesterday bfast: grapenuts, yoghurt and raisins
Lunch: chicken soup
Dinner: bolognese with green beans instead of spaghetti
Snacks: rest of previous day's box of chocolates (knew it would happen), snack a jacks, go ahead biscuit

Today bfast: sausage (low fat), bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms
Lunch: none
Dinner: roast chicken and veg (no potatoes)
Snacks: 2 packets of snack a jacks, bar of Green & Blacks chocolate.

Am feeling so much slimmer so really don't want to blow it. Please shout at me tomorrow if I'm still eating chocolate...

Tillyscoutsmum · 23/01/2012 12:21

As predicted, no loss this week (well, about 4 ozs but I'm not sure that counts). I know I had a bit of a blow out on Friday night and probably a few more cals than I should have on Saturday, but I was really good the rest of the week. I'm pissed off Angry.

Ho hum - onwards and upwards. The shred dvd has arrived and I've just done Stage 1. I'm still alive to tell the tale but suspect I will feel it tomorrow Hmm
