Going for a driving lesson in a minute...nerves a rattling...wish me luck

weesaidie · 15/11/2005 15:09

Good luck!

That is another thing I need to do!

lucycinco · 15/11/2005 15:27

Just wanted to say hello, still smoking the eveil weed but have jacked my job in at last. So should be stress free soon and ready to give up. Ive still got your goodies, except for the chocolate of course.

dropinthe · 15/11/2005 15:59

Well done-why did you give the job the heave ho?

lucycinco · 15/11/2005 19:11

because i hated it and it was the most unprofessional place that I have ever worked. I was being set ridiculous targets that I just couldnt meet. They were giving me special needs Russian and Spanish children and saying if I hadnt taught them English by Christmas they would be asked to leave the school. It was impossible these children shouldnt have been put in such a position, they should have never been in the school. It also meant teaching a class with them in was nearly impossible. I spent my whole time trying to make sure that they didnt run away or climb out of the window. Sorry, I just needed a rant!

dropinthe · 15/11/2005 19:31

Always here for that, hon!! Well done, you! Won't affect your CV,I hope?

lucycinco · 15/11/2005 21:12

might do but I couldnt stand it any longer.

charliecat · 16/11/2005 12:31

Sounds awful

nzshar · 16/11/2005 13:31

Hi all

I just wanted to say i think i have done it

It has been 12 days since i last had a smoke. Have had to give up due to health reasons but just really needed the extra push cos i hated smoking really. Was smoking 20/30 a day until 12 days ago when i picked up all my sokes, lighters etc and dumped them in the bin.

Its not been as hard as i thought it would be....though dont get me wrong its not a walk in the park either huh.

Anyway hopefully now i wont die a premature death (well not from smoking anyhow ) and be able to see my son marry and have kids too LOL

charliecat · 16/11/2005 16:22

Well Done you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The art of it is not having another fag, I think all of us here can say our one mistake in the past was having just one fag but it leads to you being back on your previous amount in no time.

swings · 16/11/2005 19:34

Hurray for you nzshar! That's amazing. I was only on around 10 a day at the time of quitting and I was a real wreck so you've done brilliantly.

How's everyone else today?

Cc your horrible thread seems to have died down at last, eh? I got slightly embroiled in one about Madonna. There's some really really cliquey people on here even if they say they're not. Really make you feel small. And angry. But how daft is it to get mad at a computer?!

weesaidie · 16/11/2005 20:19

It is daft dearie, but I do it too so don't worry!! That thread of CCs really p**d me off!

You are right about the art of not having a fag CC... as Swings's favourite person (ExpatinScotland ) said recently, 'you are only a puff away from a pack a day!'

I love that.

charliecat · 16/11/2005 21:16

Woohoo...Like that..gonna steal it and quote it to AT LEAST one person every day

charliecat · 16/11/2005 22:53

Well I will just talk to myself then shall I?!!!

FIONA* Emailed Mink the other day and havent heard back. When was the last time you heard from her?

For anyone who was around when i was having a fit about a grands worht of stuff being ordered in my name at my old address i finally got a phone call from them yesterday..asking why i hadnt paid
Had to go through the whole thing again rah rah rah rah

swings · 16/11/2005 23:01

Cc! Are you there?

weesaidie, you read some of that bloody madonna thread then? I guess you're expat's mate then. Grumble ... grumble ...Well at least she ONCE said something sensible.

charliecat · 16/11/2005 23:03

Just going to watch U2 On Channel 4

Obviously I should have read the madonna thread ...

charliecat · 16/11/2005 23:05

Night Swings xx

swings · 16/11/2005 23:06

I wouldn't bother, cc. U2 or the Madonna thread. Stay and swing with me!

The madonna thread was really just me getting pissed off with women being horrible about other women's physical appearances. I hate those mags like Now which try to pinpoint 1cm of cellulite on a 'celebrity's' thigh. I just think women should stick together. sister.

swings · 16/11/2005 23:07

dont gooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!

swings · 16/11/2005 23:19

....... waaaaggghhhhh ..........

charliecat · 17/11/2005 06:10

Hey brother Im beginning to think your one of mumsnets famous hairy truckers LOL...I mean sister how you doing LOL
U2 was good, did you not watch it. I had done my housework to them earlier so I couldnt not watch IYKWIM

weesaidie · 17/11/2005 08:20

I did actually make a couple of comments on the Madonna thread but not about her looks I promise!

I don't really know Expat but I did like that quote!

Hope all are well today. I think I am getting a throat infection, with is typical isn't it? To have a sore throat after quitting smoking??!

swings · 17/11/2005 11:26

cc, as a cat, you know all about being hairy. As for me, as a Jew, I know all about it in a different way. My eyebrows leave many awestruck.

weesaidie, well I didn't like expatinscot at all. Nor rhubarb. they both reminded me of the Horrible Girls at school. Except I'm too big nowadays to put up with that bollocks.

But yes, sore throat! I think it's very typical after quitting smoking. Smoking anaesthetises the small hairs which coat the tonsils and also inside the lungs so you're less likely to get sore throats if you're a smoker. And if, like me, you're asthmatic, smoking can even 'seem' to make your asthma better because you have less attacks. Each time I've given up my asthma has got worse and my throat got sore. But it doesn't last long at all and is way way way better long term. My GP told me once that with asthma and smoking it hits your lungs suddenly, one day you'll find yourself with serious lung disease which is irreperable.

swings · 18/11/2005 11:17

Am I alone today in my battle against fags then?

swings · 18/11/2005 13:32

... sigh ...
