That is such a clever poem.

Thanks double, I hope I will. It terrifies me that my dcs are going to the schools here. They're entirely white, and when i worked in on of them I heard such lovely things as kids calling each othe ngger and pki and other vilenesses. If watching a video and anyone non-white appeared they'd groan and ask the teacher why they had to watch some effing foreign "insert expletive of choice" and the teacher wouldn't even call them on it!

I was constantly confronting them and they just seemed entirely bemused that anyone wouldn't just see skin colour.

So sad :(

It really is. It was such a shock to come across it as the norm. It's not aggressive racism, just completely ignorant racism. And I can't stand the idea of my dcs being around that. I find it hard enough seeing it on a daily basis at work.

God I'm just being dragged down by everything at the moment. Normally I can fight it all and assure myself my dcs will learn from me. But at the moment I just want to run away.

BrianAndHisBalls · 27/11/2010 11:44

jesus christ uno, that's horrible. Sounds like the whole place is stuck back in my grandparent's generation Sad

Hello Smile

Mouse - how is ds now?

YouKnowStuffingisforLunch · 27/11/2010 11:49

Brian that is exactly it! It's got all the bonuses (helpful neighbours, safe areas, children playing out, no crime) and the negatives (small minded bigots, racism, inter-family feuds, not being 'local'unless your great grandfather's great grandfather was born here) of living in the fifties. No one goes to uni.

It's all very restrictive.

Hello ham :). tWas me who wants to live over your way. I love it down there. Got lots of friends around Bristol.

I want to move!

Fancy a swap?

YouKnowStuffingisforLunch · 27/11/2010 11:50

Double late is simply not on! I have a friend who lives in a canal boat. I'm veery jealous, except when it's winter.
