The big worry about Reform's success is it means the Tories will move to the right and so in a few years' time we are facing a very nasty right-wing government.

I thought this too. It's the seeds of a very popular, right wing facist government.
Labour, greens, LDs need to start preparing for this together.

Farage has received half the number of votes as Labour. That is way ahead of expectations.

He has massively outperformed all analysts expectations.

He will be delighted with the outcome. It is almost the perfect result for him.

Reform hasn't outperformed the polls, we all knew the party was going to get over 15%.

PickAChew · 05/07/2024 00:14

And yes, love how Mandy was needling the Refkixit Party guy about it not being a new party.

Labour haven't lost any seats to reform yet.

They've gained massively

Word is 30p Lee is out.

How comes BBC keeps saying Labour %swing to reform? A PP posted a screenshot pages ago

Exactly.

This thread is full of people in denial.

Reform hasn't outperformed the polls, we all knew the party was going to get over 15%.

The markets had him winning 2 or 3 seats. If 13+ seats ends up being correct that was around a 4% probability of happening according to the analysts even taking into account the polls.

Aladdinzane · 05/07/2024 00:17

Result in Sunderland Central shows the Labour % of the vote remains the same, Tories lose more than half to Reform.

Differentstarts · 05/07/2024 00:17

Do they get paid for counting votes or is it voluntary. I'd like that job

Good to see you. I live in England but hate that NI never matters.

lazzapazza · 05/07/2024 00:19

What is this? An Oscars acceptance speech?

Turmerictolly · 05/07/2024 00:19

@Differentstarts, you get paid, but not sure it's the same rate as the poll clerks.

I've no idea why.

They showed in in Sunderland North where Labour won more of the vote than last time and the Tories massively lost their share.

The swings are blatantly from Tories to Reform.

Although the last time they showed the " Swing" to the Tories, who won 1% more than Theresa May, whilst the Lib Dems the majority of the national swing away from Labour.

If Hull West goes to Reform I would like Clive and Laura to ask Peter Mandelson how responsible he feels for people not believing anyone cares. He's supposed to be the high steward of the city, a lobbyist for the interests of the people of Hull.

Morishe · 05/07/2024 00:20

Will they show every single constituency or just the key ones? I’d love to see my little town!

Cant figure out BBCs stats. Im looking at the numbers on Guardian page and theyre showing small % increases to Labour. BBC doing some proportional calcs but no idea what!

PickAChew · 05/07/2024 00:21

Even longer speech by Buckland, who lost his seat.

Depends a bit, on what’s going on in the studio, whether it’s a marginal seat, an unexpected result, stuff like that.

Great speeches from Labour and Tory

Wigtopia · 05/07/2024 00:24

RedToothBrush · 04/07/2024 22:38

The BBC did it on tv, but i've not found a breakdown by constituency online yet.

Guardian have a map which shows a breakdown for each one of you click on the little constituency area/ type the constituency in

Callmemel · 05/07/2024 00:25

BurntBroccoli · 05/07/2024 00:23

Great speeches from Labour and Tory

Absolutely. Gracious and dignified, both.
