If you believe men and women can't change sex, who are you going to vote for?

Has Keir come to his senses or is he still insisting that some men have cervixes?

What's your view on who a GC woman should vote for?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/05/2024 22:39

Don't know. I would like to spoil my ballot paper but I really don't want the Lib Dem nutter to get in. Really don't want to vote Tory though.

bilgewater · 22/05/2024 22:42

I will have to tactically vote Lib Dem in my constituency to keep the Tories out. I'm not wasting the vote women died for me to have. I don't really trust Labour on this issue but I do think KS is a grown up and can see the way public sentiment is going.

HRTQueen · 22/05/2024 23:46

Labour

I am very concerned about the erosion of womens and girls rights to safety, privacy and dignity in some situations being ignored

but this doesn’t impact my life in the way low wages, high interest rates, poor healthcare services, poor emergency services does

And I believe many people have the same concerns but everyday issues they are facing is more urgent to deal with

Previousreligion · 22/05/2024 23:56

Lib Dem as I vowed never to vote for the Conservatives any more after Brexit, and Labour can't win in my area.

QueenofTheBorg · 23/05/2024 13:26

crowgift · 22/05/2024 21:53

OP but do you grasp that this mess has happened under the Conservatives?

Well I'm not stupid so yes, of course I "grasp" it. But Keir hasn't been clear on his stance on this.

I don’t understand how idiotic you have to be to think this is the most important thing. Even if you feel what gender people are has anything to do with you, I don’t understand how you think it’s MORE important than having schools that aren’t falling down, a healthcare system that functions and enough money to feed your children. It’s so obsessive and weird.
Like the people who voted for trump purely because they didn’t like the fact Hillary “stood by her man” when trump was raping people and having affairs left right and centre.
I think people should be ashamed of themselves who are considering voting Tory and sacrificing their fellow humans and OWN CHILDREN on one invented tiny issue

Stop with the insults please. I'm entitled to my opinion.

TooBigForMyBoots · 23/05/2024 13:32

I know that humans can't change sex. I will be voting for the party most likely to remove my incumbent MP. Knowing that humans can't change sex plays no part in my decision one way or another.

BonzoGates · 23/05/2024 13:38

No chance of the Tory candidate bearing the SNP in my new constituency. There is a shot of the Labour candidate beating the SNP though. They also aren't great on self id and gender issues but I'm hoping that a bigger labour majority will allow Starmer to oust the rot.

SnowFrogJelly · 23/05/2024 13:43

I'm voting Labour whatever.. there are many more important issues than men with cervixes

Greenroof · 23/05/2024 13:45

This is not a deciding factor for me and I imagine most other people.

traytablestowed · 23/05/2024 13:51

Is this thread for real? If this is seriously the biggest issue and a true vote-swinger for you then you must be living quite a privileged and sheltered life right now.

GasPanic · 23/05/2024 13:54

IMO people shouldn't be worried about what the Labour Party policy/ideology is now.

It's where it's going to get to in 4 years from where it is now - that is what I would be concerned about.

DogsOnPatrol · 23/05/2024 13:58

Not sure. I’ve always voted labour but them not being clear on what a woman is, is a big issue despite others saying it’s not. Women’s safety is at risk and this ideology is especially dangerous to autistic girls and I have one of those.

I also don’t agree with VAT on private schools. I know lots of parents with children who have SEN, for who state schools could not and were not interested in meeting their needs. If those children have be pulled out of their private school, it will be a disaster for the parents and children. I think the policy will also have negative effects on other kids in private school and state school.

So, I’m undecided. Possibly conservative for the first time ever. I’ll see what each party comes up with in the next few weeks.

Or like me, it’s a big issue because gender ideology has the ability to devastate the lives of our autistic kids.

Men with cervixes.🤔

beguilingeyes · 23/05/2024 14:01

The rivers are full of shit. we are on the verge of having to boil our drinking water. The NHS is functionally dead. The Tories are going after disabled people now.
I think right now there are more important fish to fry.

EXACTLY!! For so many people the trans issue seems to be the only thing they care about!

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 23/05/2024 14:07

Labour.

Link to tories concerns about women op? Our local Tory cllr (with his own little area fb page) verbally attacked someone online for posting about being followed by a man, a man who had inflicted DV on his partner. But hey he was a Tory supporter. They don’t do themselves any favours.

Lovelyview · 23/05/2024 14:09

I'm going to ask the candidates their position and vote accordingly including looking at independents. If I was in Rosie Duffield's constituency I would absolutely be voting Labour but I'm very concerned about Annalisa Dodds latest announcement on self id.

crowgift · 22/05/2024 21:53

Meanwhile Labour say the Conservatives haven't gone far enough.

I think it is for real @traytablestowed. There are some Mnetters for which this is the most important issue. I assume they'll be voting Reform UK, SDP, Party of Women or George Galloway's party.

Outside of Mnet, the polls show that this is a non-issue for most voters, not even appearing in their top 5 concerns at all.

It's great that you and both know that humans can't change sex.

The problem is too many senior Labour figures would say we are hateful bigots for expressing it. (While some in the SNP or Greens would like to make saying it a sackable or even a criminal offence).

For me this is a problem of an even higher order than the very serious questions of how our public services and economy are run. A politician who thinks stating a simple well known truth deserves "consequences" or "repercussions" is entirely unworthy of my vote as I have no wish to live in an Orwellian dystopia.

Mothmansknickers · 23/05/2024 14:18

I'll be voting to get this shit show of a government out. Whether a man/woman can change sex is way down on my list of priorities.

TooBigForMyBoots · 23/05/2024 14:21

Tory MPs reported other MPs and regular citizens to the police for stating it. Or even just retweeting JKR.

If this is the most important issue for you @Underthinker there are a number of options open to you as I said in a pp. Voting Tory isn't one. They just can't be trusted on this issue.🤷‍♀️

Or any other issue.

MaidOfSteel · 23/05/2024 14:21

I know that males & females can't change sex. It's not just a belief.

I've been a lifelong Labour voter but I'm worried the hard left might somehow stage a comeback if the party wins. However, I'm in Scotland and first priority has to be getting the SNP out, so I'll be voting tactically.
