Has Keir come to his senses or is he still insisting that some men have cervixes?

What's your view on who a GC woman should vote for?

OP posts:
WaitingfortheTardis · 22/05/2024 20:33

Still not Tories.

Ritadidsomethingbad · 22/05/2024 20:34

Conservatives for Kemi.

I just cannot bring myself to vote for Labour - they told me to leave so I did.

GC5 · 22/05/2024 20:35

RemarkablyBrightCreature · 22/05/2024 17:44

Labour. Just because the tories supposedly “know what a woman is” doesn’t mean they give a flying fuck about them 🙄

Exactly this!

Just to add, I had some professional dealings with Keir many years ago. I was impressed by him, he does genuinely care about women’s rights and he did some positive and practical work on important issues. So even if the party seems to have lost the plot over this trans stuff, I know he’ll be better than the alternative.

Blahdymcblahdyface · 22/05/2024 20:36

The tories have done fuck all about this subject

aplthtoa · 22/05/2024 20:37

Labour. As much as it's an important issue to me, I think a Labour government is more in need by most. I feel some common sense is coming into this debate now, I feel more hopeful than I did a year ago.

WaitingfortheTardis · 22/05/2024 20:37

Sorry, but after all the lies, does anyone really believe the Tories? They're just saying what they think people want to hear. Meaningless words.

ThreeDimensional · 22/05/2024 20:37

Labour, but I'll be writing to the candidate to express my concerns about their stance on this issue.

FunkyMonks · 22/05/2024 20:39

Independent i hate both tories and labour both awful parties.
To be honest I don't trust either they are all snakes cheats and lairs they all proclaim to help and want to make changes but they never do they just both take it in turns which one is going to fuck it up so that the other gets a go of doing the same thing.

TheThingIsYeah · 22/05/2024 20:42

takemeawayagain · 22/05/2024 17:58

Your title needs fixing:
If you know men and women can't change sex, who are you going to vote for.
It's not a belief.

Exactly.

Anyone trying to convince you that man or a woman can change sex is basically asking you to believe a lie. The whole thing is absurd, but that's the clown world we live in.

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 22/05/2024 20:43

It isn't a 'trans issue', it's a 'rights of women and girls' issue and it has an impact across many other areas of policy. So it may not be the only issue but it's pretty fundamental

If men can be considered women, then women cease to exist as a separate class in law and we have no protections. Everything aimed at protecting women will have the unsaid caveat of 'and any man that decides he feels like one'

I won't vote Tory and can't vote for any of the others so my only possible option is to vote for our (sensible) local independent

Frankly Labour need to get their heads out of their arses on this one because they look fucking disingenuous and spineless every time it is brought up, and I don't think they are going to get anywhere near the landslide some people are expecting

AlltheFs · 22/05/2024 20:43

Probably Conservative. I don’t want to but I can’t bring myself to vote Labour as they will fuck me as a landlord but will actually read all the manifesto’s first.

Barleycat · 22/05/2024 20:43

Labour. There will be nothing left of this country if the tories get in again.

Dakotabluebell · 22/05/2024 20:45

I'm gender critical and I'll be voting Labour. Because i can see that there is more than just one issue that affects women, and the tories have destroyed this country with women being more severely affected in pretty much every way than men. If you can afford to vote tory based purely on gender critical stuff then you are presumably not using schools, the NHS, emergency services, road, benefits, social care etc etc

All of the recent changes in law that Mumsnet is so up in arms about happened under the tories.

Crumpetsssss · 22/05/2024 20:47

Labour. Because this is not a one issue election. I can be a feminist AND care about education, health, immigration, etc.

it’s a case of choosing the least worst option, and the Conservative Party isn’t it.

Dakotabluebell · 22/05/2024 20:49

Screamingabdabz · 22/05/2024 19:43

Exactly. This idea that it’s ‘daft’ or insignificant is so shortsighted. I feel like I’m living that poem about who will fight for you when there is no one left. When they eradicate all rights women have by including males we are back to the law of the jungle. Women will get hurt, raped and more. Women will have no voice, no true representation in law or politics.

I can’t vote for that no matter what else is going on.

Women are already getting hurt and raped, and the tories have decimated police numbers and slashed budgets. At the same time the nhs has been dismantled and sold off to their mates so good luck for those women getting any kind of mental health support because it simply does not exist.

NewName24 · 22/05/2024 20:50

I’m not going to base my vote on one single issue like this. Instead I’m going to take a broader and more balanced look at the main parties and then make my mind up.

This.
Like I hope probably in vain everyone does.

I have no idea. I've never voted Tory in my life. My current MP is SNP, and I believe he's standing down now. I have no idea whether his replacement candidate is sensible or another heidbanger.

I was a member of the SNP. I left because I couldn't stand the gender woo. Previously, I voted Labour, but I don't really trust Labour now.

tedgran · 22/05/2024 20:55

I live in a solid Libdem constituency, council as well. I won't vote for them, so I have just emailed local Labour Party to say that I would have voted for them, but won't after the statement issued by Annalise Dodds. I'm hoping that there will be a sensible independent candidate in my constituency. Yhis is avery important issue for me.

Garlicked · 22/05/2024 20:55

Underthinker · 22/05/2024 17:46

Usually a Labour voter.
I'll vote party of women if they have a candidate in my area, but I would guess they'll only stand in a few places to begin with.
Failing that, if Labour completely U turn on their "almost self ID" proposal then maybe Labour.
Otherwise spoiled ballot.

(I don't have the complete hatred of the conservative party that many here do, but I am politically left leaning so I don't see myself voting for them.)

Similar. I'd love it if Party of Women had a candidate here, but they won't and my health's too crappy to deal with standing 😢

There has never been a Labour MP here and I don't think there will be this time; I just bung my red vote in by way of a tiny statement. I am furious with them, though! I resigned my hitherto lifetime membership after one of their fucking idiots on Twitter told me the party didn't want "anti trans bigots" like me. The local party leader said he understood but, sadly, felt he couldn't say anything.

They'll do better nationally if they get off the fence and pull the glittery splinters out of their misogynistic backsides.

LadyHavelockVetinari · 22/05/2024 20:58

What's your view on who a GC woman should vote for?

I don't think this question makes sense. GC women come from all walks of life and have all sorts of priorities. I am GC but on this occasion that won't influence my vote. I'll vote for the party that I judge can deliver the best for schools, infrastructure, housing and health in the country as a whole. If they need to pretend to think that trans women are women, well, I'll pick my battles.

In my opinion it's a real luxury to have the GC issue be a vote deciding priority.

AgathaMystery · 22/05/2024 20:59

I live in a super safe Labour seat. I’ll vote Tory for the first time in my life because I’m a single issue voter and don’t identify as a cervix-haver or a birthing person.

LadyHavelockVetinari · 22/05/2024 21:01

Screamingabdabz · 22/05/2024 19:43

I can’t vote for that no matter what else is going on.

The point of that poem, though, is that if you don't act when an evil doesn't affect you then eventually the evil comes for you. If you believe (as I do) that the conservative government already is "coming for you" (in the sense that they don't prioritise your interests) then the best thing to do even on this rhetoric is vote them out.

MagnetCarHair · 22/05/2024 21:02

I'm voting for the Tories. There's no point wishing this and that about Labour at this point, it is what it is.

Gnomegarden32 · 22/05/2024 21:03

Labour. Due to the massive increase in child poverty over the past decade and the state of the NHS, schools and public services. There are so many serious issues at stake, I wouldn't just vote on one issue.

StandardSize14 · 22/05/2024 21:04

Tory
