@BestIsWest, the climbers I have are:

Strawberry Hill, which is gorgeous and has won an award for its scent. I’d say it’s quite a subtle scent, but complex if that makes sense 🤓

James Galway, which is a very full rose (picture attached), but I don’t think it has much scent.

The generous gardener, which is a new one for me, but it seems quite easy to grow and has a beautiful scent too. Not overpowering, but just lovely ☺️

@noflora I planted a Wollerton old hall a few weeks ago. I love the blooms when they first open but find that they tend to droop downward. Is yours doing that? Mine is growing very well also in the shade

Noflora · 04/07/2020 12:39

I have had to support mine in the rain and the big clusters apricot but I am working on the basis that this is still a young plant thing and will improve. Having said which when it is tall I'll want them not to all face upwards anyway.

AnneKipanki · 04/07/2020 13:46

Strawberry Hill is a very pretty shape @Crazzzycat.

Once again I'm blown away by all of these amazing Roses 😮 And by all of the knowledge, which by far exceeds my own!

Great photos @Buffthemagic especially that stunning Lily! None of mine are out as yet.

Love the Water Lilies @Vicliz24, your pond looks lovely!

AnneKipanki · 04/07/2020 14:10

@BestIsWest , one flower is 4 inches across, another is about 3 .

Those are all beautiful. I’m taken by the Generous Gardener. It’s a space on the back wall about 10 feet by 7 so plenty of room.

Mamia15 · 04/07/2020 16:27

No Mamia15 It doesn't look like GJ. It actually looks more like Harlow Carr, but I'm not saying it's that either. Are you sure it's a David Austin? I can check in my book for you 😊

Thanks Always and yes please to checking your book - I ordered it online from DA and it arrived last week, I'm wondering if there has been a mix up although it is labelled GJ.

AnneKipanki · 04/07/2020 16:34

Mistakes do happen.
My GJ today.
I think your leaves look darker too .

That one is 4 inches diameter.

Very confusing! Maybe email them the picture and they will advise. GJ is the book does look quite pale.

*in the book

Mamia15 · 04/07/2020 19:14

I have emailed them - the size really threw me, about 1.5 inches wide...

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 04/07/2020 19:53

Thanks @Noflora does yours, and yours @apricotdreams have a strong scent? It's marked as strongly scented and I want one that is - I'm just wondering what string actually means. How far does the scent travel?

It look beautiful from your pics noflora Grin

ditavonteesed · 05/07/2020 07:48

Such beautiful pictures, this thread makes me smile so much. You all have such beautiful gardens. My David Austin roses are coming this week. I’m very excited.

Love the group of pots dita!

Noflora · 05/07/2020 13:25

@BewareTheBeardedDragon The scent is nicely there. I chose it mainly for that. It is too young I think to be near its full fragrance but it is showing promise. My The Generous Gardener had nothing like the scent strength last year compared to its amazing waft this year. My 1 yr planted Claire Austin is still dissapointing and the Strawberry Hill which I planted earlier this year is very light. But as their literature and Crazzy atest there is more to come.

Which DAs are coming dita? I find rose deliveries really exciting. I still have Boscobel on order. I like a good pot grouping too, easy to change and tweak, very satisfying.

GiantKitten · 05/07/2020 13:37

@Oldraver

If you’re still wanting tagetes, Aldi have potted bedding plants in on Thursday (9th) & the pic includes them Smile
