Thought I would do some bamboo photos

First one is the daddy bamboo, now around 21 years old and has spread to around 3ft round, so no they don't all go rampant. ( or I'm rubbish at growing them) I have taken four successful plants off this one that are above 6ft tall and thee others that can't decide to grow or not

Second one is a blank bamboo and third a red one. I managed to kill a blue one though nursery owner said they'd had problems with them all and were no longer restocking. Interested to know if others have had success

@AnneKipanki I was talking about the other thing that holds the 6 pots. If you could find out and tell me I'd appreciate it so much! Thank you

AnneKipanki · 19/05/2020 16:26

Ah ! Sorry!
She said she bought it as a milk bottle holder for her mother BUT as she was not able to see her with the lockdown she used it for plants . If I find out more I will let you know!

I've just discovered this thread and I'm loving all of the photos, some really beautiful gardens you all have 😊

Wanted to join by adding a gorgeous Rhododendron I have flowering at the moment.

Link did not work.
Something similar did come up when I googled. It was a wine bottle holder.

One of only two fuschia this year, the squirrels have developed a taste for their bulbs Envy I used to have a lovely display of them.
They decimate my flower bulbs but then repopulate my garden with horse chestnut and oak tree seedlings - they are my main gardening foe followed by the pheasants which just eat everything

I went to the garden centre this morning (re-opened last Monday) and bought a Rhododendron, a David Austin rose (not pink)!! daisies & raspberries.

Anne I didn't see a viburnum or other shrubs you've often mentioned. It was a strange experience because I had no choice but to bring my children (I rang in advance to see if it was ok) and I had to hold my son's hand, and my girls had to hold hands and stay no less or no more than 2 metres behind me... not easy to browse! Confused Not sure I will go back again, it's not really fair on other customers who are queing alone or as a couple anyway.

So maybe I will wait until the autumn. I think that's the best time of year for planting anyway.
Looking forward to seeing your lovely pots Smile

I love seeing all the roses in bloom on this thread. We are still waiting

One of my least appreciated roses: David Austin Desdemona.

I was thinking yesterday that there’s absolutely nothing about this rose I like. I hate the colour, I don’t like how prissy it looks or how small and neat the actual plant is. But then I lent in to take this photo and was hit by its scent....all is forgiven little Desdemona! 😍

In Autumn I might still move it to a place where I can see it less, but smell it more though 😄

I’m loving everyone’s poppies by the way. I think I need a few of those in my life!

I’ve heard good things about that rose you bought @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet. I’ve been led to believe it is absolutely spectacular, so I’m sure you’ll love it.

Speaking of viburnums, here is a picture of my viburnum Kilimanjaro, which is currently in flower. This one is grown against a north facing wall, in pretty poor soil, but that doesn’t stop it from putting on an impressive display each May. They’re great shrubs for tricky conditions

@Crazzzycat Snap, I think I have it too! I'll post a picture. Looking a little brown around the edges.
It's near the Lilac and Lupins.

I had never heard of my new rose. I will consult my David Austin book later Smile
Yours is beautiful. Sometimes they look even more beautiful in a photo, the camera really captures the detail. Lucky you having that beauty in bloom already

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet I knew I'd seen that Golden Celebration rose mentioned recently. It's Princess Alexandra's choice for the royal virtual Chelsea this year 'Princess Alexandra’s choice was a yellow rose: “My Alexandra rose dominates my garden, but this Golden Celebration rose gives me great pleasure to look at and has the most extraordinary and unique scent.” '
Looks lovely

I planted 4 David Austin roses yesterday, I have been waiting so impatiently. But te only rose currently flowering in my garden is this old unknown one. It must have been planted long before some trees got very large as it is in deep shade apart from the last evening rays. But it flowers every year

Thanks for sharing that @Noflora
I'm excited about it now Smile
Roses can surprise you, even though I know it's recommended they get full sun.

What 4 did you plant? Last year I only had Harlow Carr (picture) and wild Edric. This year I planted these, just before everything shut (tags). They were bare branches pruned right back to just a few inches, and now they're about to burst into bloom Smile

It's so lovely to share the enthusiasm and pictures with you all Smile

That’s a lovely collection @AlwaysOnABloodyDiet!

I thought i had quite a few DA roses, but out of these I only have Thomas A Beckett. It’s not the most floriferous rose for me, and always the last to flower, but it’s so beautiful with the most gorgeous scent, it’s worth the wait!

I’d love to see pictures of these roses in flower when the time comes 🙈
