I've just had a whimpering text to say that she went to buy soup and bread but she didn't have enough money for the soup. Please send soup funds.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2019 16:26

Tell her she can make French onion soup for about 30p.

Did your dd do pyschology A level? Time for an "extinction burst" I fear.

or failing that a soup making gadget the kind that cooks andliquidises.

ds1 told me he had "some shoes", his only decent ones, but he couldn't wear them any more because he had trod in something so he had put them in plastic bag, and would bring them home for me to clean in a few weeks!!!!!!Not in a million years am I doing this. we gave him instructions about rubber gloves and sink scrubber. Alas he gave up rugby or he would have been encouraged to learn how to clean the mud off shoes. shocking.

UrsulaPandress · 18/03/2019 18:14

DD tried that with dog shit shoes but she got a boy to do it instead.

I love soup. I am a big maker of soup.

Hi all, sorry I've not been around for a while- real life getting in the way.
Ds1 is still loving his new life, has a group of friends that he is planning to share a house with next year and Shock got himself a girlfriend. I haven't met her yet but I have spoken to her, she seems lovely and is very pretty. They look incredibly happy together. She's pulling him out of his comfort zone which is brilliant.
Ds2 has his date to join the army having been given the all clear on his health. We take him on Sunday. I am so proud of him but putting my head in the sand at the moment. Dh has helped him with his preparation as I am really struggling. I'm pleased he is doing what he wants to though, he just seems so young.

ShanghaiDiva · 19/03/2019 04:40

Ds is home - yay.
Brought with him two packs of Tesco finest hot cross buns - double yay!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2019 07:18

How lovely about the girlfriend LDG :) Massive changes for you though with your ds2. Flowers

You've trained your ds well Shanghai!

dd is home for Easter now, she seems happy, more confident and totally exhausted.

It's lovely hearing about DC growing up.

starfleet · 19/03/2019 13:54

Some of these posts have made me smile. They are growing up which is lovely to hear but don't they just revert back to kids sometimes when they see something as being slightly complicated.

DS was back for the weekend - one of his old school friends had come to stay with him at university on the Friday night and caught the ridiculously early train back home in the morning so he could get enough sleep to enable him to stay awake to go to the concert that DS and other friends came back for. The later trains were all over the place on Saturday due to flooding and poor time management on DS's/friends part meant they got to our house an hour before the gig was starting.

Then there was the debacle of how they were getting back into the city. The tired friend was supposed to drive them all but then realised that his car only had 2 seat belts in the back so 5 of them ended up like sardines in DS's two door car, (four of them including DS are well over 6'). We then had a trauma the next day for three of them to get back to university - the trains were delayed or cancelled and I ended up driving them. Just how I wanted to spend my Sunday.....

TheFirstOHN · 19/03/2019 14:44

MrsAwesomeDragon hope your DD is adjusting to being back home and that you've been able to access some support for her.

UrsulaPandress · 19/03/2019 15:11

Sounds like a fun weekend starfleet

TapasForTwo · 19/03/2019 18:22

I think I asked this before, but do the students get bored after a few days at home, without having friends on constant tap and loads of socialising opportunities available?

UrsulaPandress · 19/03/2019 18:52

Yes dd does. Although she hasn’t been at home for that long yet. We are away at Easter (yeah) but I imagine summer will be quite painful. I’m hoping she will get a daytime job and an evening job to fund next year’s shenanigans.

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/03/2019 20:09

DD didn't have time to get bored at Christmas, she went back to her fast food job, caught up with local friend, went back to uni for New Year. She had 3 weeks off. She got back to uni and realised she hadn't seen us, so came back for a weekend to chill!

It might be different this time. After lectures finish on Friday she has 3 exams in May, then nothing until September

MsAwesomeDragon · 19/03/2019 22:48

DD gets bored, yes. She's already bored and has only been home since Wednesday. It's going to be a long few months till September :( I'll try to facilitate a social life as much as I can, but there's not many of her friends who are here, her home friends are away at uni (but will be back soon for Easter), and her uni friends are also at uni. She's got one friend who is here, but I don't know if that's going to be enough to keep her occupied.

starfleet · 20/03/2019 06:57

DS doesn't usually. He finds himself stuff occupy his time. Easter will be spent revising, sleeping and probably celebrating his birthday several times.

He has 3 festivals over the summer and hopefully his retail job to go back to.

TapasForTwo · 20/03/2019 07:00

DD's BF doesn't even intend coming home for Easter, or if he does it will only be a flying visit.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2019 08:08

dd didn't get bored over Christmas.
She's at her job interview at the moment.... I'm a bit nervous for her.

TapasForTwo · 20/03/2019 08:29

Good luck to her Kitten

UrsulaPandress · 20/03/2019 08:32

That's an early interview!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2019 08:34

Well technically speaking, she's waiting for the interview in a cafe somewhere.

marmiteloversunite · 20/03/2019 08:56

Good luck to your DD Kitten!

My DD was bored and a bit grumpy at Christmas. She's not got that long over Easter but I think the Summer holidays might be a bit of a trial. I found she was a bit selfish and resented parental input as obviously she is an adult now! 🙄

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2019 10:20

dd isn't going to be bored over Summer :)

Oh, well done Kitten's DD.
On a sad note MIL died this morning. She was very old, ill and had advanced alzheimers so it wasn't unexpected, and TBH, a bit of a relief all round.

UrsulaPandress · 20/03/2019 10:56

Sorry for your loss Tapas.

And well done kittens dd.
